中国人走出国门到全球旅游，是改革开放以后出现的新气象，这无论于人于己都是一件大好事。然而，美中不足的是，一些国人的不良习俗，也随之带到世界各地，无意中损害了祖国的形象和声誉。诸如，随地吐痰、在公众场所大声喧哗、随手乱扔废弃物、过马路抢红灯等等。这些细微琐事，或许被一些出国旅游的人认为是不值得“大惊小怪”的小事，然而，对于中国国家和民族在国际上的整体形象，却是万万忽视不得的大事。

中国原本是一个享誉天下的礼仪之邦，几千年积淀下来的文明行为规范是很有讲究的，特别是像北京这样的千年古都，更是礼数繁多，所谓“礼多人不怪”。然而，经过“文化革命”的荡涤，加之近年来社会转型的冲击，我们自己的好习俗渐渐丢掉了，国外的好风尚又未及引入。相反，上面列举的种种不良风气倒是自然而然地蔓延开来了。

其实，与许多国人的不良习俗相对照的一些良好风尚，像自觉维护公共场所的卫生、不喧哗、遵守交通规则等并非某些国度的异国风情。如今，时常走出国门、见多识广的中国人是很多的，他们不难发现，无论是古老的欧洲大陆，还是新兴的北美国家，抑或地处亚洲的日本及新加坡，这些良好的风尚随处可见，早已成为现代文明社会的共同行为规范。改革开放20多年来，我们的经济持续高速增长，人民生活水平大幅提升，物质的富裕应该适时引领出相应的精神文明。也就是说，国人应该自觉地吸纳当代人类社会的共同文明成果，提升我们民族的现代文化素养。特别是有条件走出国门的中国人，更应当时时刻刻注意克制和改正自己的陋习(如果有的话)，以现代文明行为的规范约束自己，“从我做起，从现在做起”，只有这样，我们民族的整体素质才会提升，中华民族在世界民族之林中的光辉形象才能愈益夺目。
