When I was a freshman in college I watched the film Gua Sha Treatment for the first time, now I am a junior student and I come back to review the movie from a multicultural aspect, I have many different feelings after watching the film again.

What makes me impressed most is in his speech he says “one day I will become one of you, a truly successful American, today this award proved that America is a true land of opportunity and I am the living proof of that.” At that moment Xu thinks he has realized his American Dream totally with his lovingly wife and adorable son. However, I think it is ironical that to make a speech like that and I assume it is made on purpose to hind a clue for the story’s development. How many non-American people have such a beautiful American dream? One of my classmate studies in American now and before he went aboard he told me his American dream is he can stand at the top of the New York. To be honest, I also dream that one day I can get the Green Card living there happily and successfully maybe working at the Wall Street. When Xu gets the award he thinks he entirely melted in the melting pot neglecting the multicultural obstruct, later the plot goes against the way he thinks. And later Quinlan asked Xu ‘why you be the scapegoat of your father?’ Xu answers ‘because he is Chinese.’ Then maybe Xu knows that there is always a wide gap between Chinese and American cultures.

The invisible nature of ones cultural beliefs also makes it difficult to impossible to explain yourself to others when questioned. Da Tong experiences an excruciatingly painful and difficult struggle while trying to protect his son, an ordeal that forces him to examine the validity of some of the most vital things he thought he knew about his identity, his Chinese culture, and the new American world hed chosen as his home.

The movie showed me how normal it is for people to look for ways that their culture is superior to others and how the misunderstandings arising from different cultural perspectives can seem very large, but can be nullified with si-mp-le, 2-sided explanations when people are willing to listen.

It appears this film is not readily available in the USA, but its the best Ive seen at highlighting the differences between American and Chinese culture. Parts of the movies dialog are only in Chinese and Ive yet to find a DVD with English subtitles, although its easy to get the gist of whats going on during those short passages. The credits are a combination of Chinese and English, holding true to the integration of both worlds. Ive noticed some important roles are not credited here on IMDb, such as Judge Horowitz, who was played by Alexander Barton。

It’s totally a happy ending. I like this movie because it shows the colorful and amazing high school life, which fascinates me so much. Besides, everyone loves happy ending of love story.

我喜欢电影，平时有时间的时候我一般都是看电影。特别是借助看外国电影有利于促进我的英语学习。在我所看过的电影中，我最喜欢的是《歌舞青春》。这部电影讲述了两个高中生的故事——学校篮球队的队长Troy Bolton和性格害羞、长相甜美、成绩优异的新生Gabriella Montez，这两位男女主人公一起为主演学校的音乐剧而努力不懈。在这个过程中，发生了一系列事件，而最终，音乐剧获得了成功，他们之间也碰撞出了爱的火花，完美落幕。我喜欢这部电影是因为电影中展现的高中生活丰富多彩、奇妙无比，让我十分着迷。再者，有谁不喜欢爱情故事的大圆满结局呢。

郑晓龙2001年的影视作品《刮痧》，由梁家辉和蒋雯丽主演，在以美国为背景的环境中，以中医疗法“刮痧”为线索，形象展示了中西文化的差异。刮痧在中国是一门医学上传统的手艺，在两千多年的历史长河里，一直稳稳健健地在中国大地上繁衍生息，然而有一天，它出现在美国社会中，便被人误解，以至于上演了一场家庭的悲欢离合。

在这部影片中让我看到了中西方文化差异之外，也看到了父爱的伟大。作为一个中国知识分子的老人只身一人来到美国，一句抱怨也没有，哪怕听不懂，但是用自己的眼睛，慢慢观察，细细相处。当他看明白了，也只是抽烟，也许这样他可以沉默，他可以更加想清楚，想透彻。这样的男人就是典型的中国父亲，但是他也有缺点就是他的毛病--抽烟，抽烟的频率太大，不论场合不论地点都抽。哪怕媳妇再不喜欢也要偷偷的抽，也许这是老一辈的通病吧!但他对子孙的爱确实是那样的伟大，当他知道他给丹尼斯刮痧，没想到会扯上这么多事，他主动儿子上司家里解释，他不懂英语，搭车过也只是一张纸片，但是他有他的聪明，最后他还是让上司知道刮痧不是许大同做的，刮痧也不是件虐待儿童的事。因为自己的过失而使儿子吃上官司事，他选择离开，在上飞机前他捧着儿子的脸，细细的看着。那一刻无不让人感动。这就是秉承传统的父亲啊!

梁家辉所饰的许大同更把这个受过传统教育的人表现得淋漓尽致!他的坏脾气，他的爱，是一个没有经过任何修饰的，丝毫不掩饰，有了很多美国的气息，更多的直接和鲜明的表达。但他内心深处仍保留着传统的观念。丹尼斯和保罗打架，他硬生生的给了丹尼斯一掌，他在用中国的方式表示了他对上司的尊重。儿子不能回家，他心力交瘁，他用中国的方式求上司，求朋友，但是美国是个讲求原则和证据的地方，不是这样就可以解决的。为了儿子他自己写证词，证明自己多么多么爱孩子，组织了无数次，但在听证会上他是有感而发的，那是一个父亲对儿子的爱，是真挚的善良的。他在公园里，迎着寒风，自己做了一个有孙悟空面相的熊仔，在公园被打劫，二话不说的把钱包给他，但是劫犯伸手抢走他的熊仔时，他奋力的扑上，好像什么都不怕，差一点把他打死，这样的勇猛也是爱的表现。最后他化身圣诞老人企图进入家里，但是被发现，他竟想着从外排水管爬上，幸好法院撤销他的分居事宜，不然他这样进又是违法。总的来说中国的父亲都是这样，为了孩子可以做很多很多他们以为做不到的事，父爱也许不及母爱那样细腻。但他就像孙悟空，不管前途多么艰辛，他依旧会对你笑，一眼嬉戏的带着你千山万水，不然你看出他的疲倦。父爱，深深感动每一个人。

最后就是那些不认识的人，对于别人的孩子护士发现小丹尼斯背上的刮痧所致的伤痕时马上报案，其他人也为了小孩不生活在自己认为的虐待环境中而不惜出庭作证，连许大同的老板兼朋友那个人同样出席，因为他们认为这是为了对小孩好。这在今天的中国这些精神是非常重要的。

这部电影除了让我感到到了中西方文化差异之外，也感受到了深深地父爱。

电影里面的王后非常妒忌白雪公主的美丽。王后想了三个方法陷害白雪公主。第一个方法是让仆人把她带进森林里把她杀了。但是仆人同情她，就把她放走了。第二个方法是用一个毒梳子毒死了她，被七个小矮人发现，帮她把梳子拔了，白雪公主又复活了。第三个方法是王后做了一个毒苹果，骗了白雪公主吃了毒苹果，把她毒死了。七个小矮人都没办法救活她。结果是邻国的王子把白雪公主救活了。他们还结了婚，王后知道后被活活气死了。

电影里的白雪公主虽然很善良和美丽，但很容易相信陌生人，还很贪心，随便拿别人的东西，她还随便吃陌生人的东西。最后害了自己。我不能像她那样随便相信别人，不贪小便宜，就不会受到伤害。

这部电影非常好看。我非常喜欢。

The Functions of Movie电影的功能

I like to see movie so much, because movie can catch my eyes so easily, I will be immerged into the story soon, unlike the books, which are full of words, make me get bored easily. One of the movie’s functions is to catch people’s attention fast, as the movie is interesting and people can see what is going on clearly. Another important function of movie is to show people the culture. We can see all kinds of the countries’ culture from the movies, a good movie reflects the director’s opinion about the world or the value. Like the American movie, individual heroism is everywhere, in the reality, American people indeed admire individual heroism, they chase for individuality. In the Indian movie, we can see there are a lot of poor people and the women’s situation is not that good. Movie is a good way for people to learn things.
