On lunar New Years Day, the Chinese family eat vegetarian dumplings which

imply they will plain and neat in this year. People change their new

clothes,this stands for a new beginning.Next,people visit relatives with some

gifts.The second day is son-in-laws festival,the husband and married women

visit their side of the family.In a word,Chinese attach great importance to

Spring Festival.

From then on, the tradition of observing the conquest of Nian is carried on  from generation to generation. The term "Guo Nian", which may mean "Survive the  Nian" becomes today "Celebrate the (New) Year" as the word "guo" in Chinese  having both the meaning of "pass-over" and "observe". The custom of putting up  red paper and firing fire-crackers to scare away Nian should it have a chance to  run loose is still around. However, people today have long forgotten why they  are doing all this, except that they feel the color and the sound add to the  excitement of the celebration.

对于我们学生来说，春节是寒假的开始，是在美味佳肴里流连，是拿压岁钱的日子。而对于大人们来说春节又是一个忙碌的开始……

中国人的春节不同于外国人，在外国1月1日元旦后便是新一年的开始，而在我们中国，到了农历正月初一才算真正的过年。当然，在中国每一个地方的春节习俗都是不同的。

就拿我们余姚这个鱼米之乡来说吧。农历中的最后一天被称之为“除夕”，在这一天里，全家人要坐在大圆桌前吃一顿年夜饭，寓意“团团圆圆、和和美美”，餐桌上都要留下一条鱼，寓意“年年有余”。吃过年夜饭，一家人其乐融融地坐在电视机前看春晚。（1983年央视举办的“春节联欢晚会”已成为了中国人的“新民俗，新文化”，是每年除夕夜必看的电视大餐。）华丽的舞台上火红的灯笼高高挂起，绚丽的红绸在半空飞舞。雅俗共赏的相声让人开怀一笑，惊心动魄的杂技让人叹为惊止，宛转悠扬的歌声让人萦绕耳畔，优美动人的舞蹈让人浮想联翩……当屏幕上出现一个个跳动的数字——“十、九、八、七、六、五、四、三、二、一零——”新年的钟声在此刻敲响，十三亿中国人民一起欢呼起来，窗外的礼花似乎在为新一年的到来而欢呼喝彩。天空，在那一刻不再是一片黑暗的，礼花把它照耀得是如此绚丽多彩。在那一刻我们也又长大了一岁，以更加矫健的步伐迈向我们的黎明……

辞旧迎新，当太阳迫不及待地探出脑袋要在这新年的第一天散发出他无穷无尽的光芒时，勤劳的人们已经在自家的门前贴上了春联、贴上了“福”字。当然这贴春联和贴“福”字也有很多的讲究：由于春联的种类比较多，依其使用场所，可分为门心、框对、横披、春条、斗方等。“门心”贴于门板上端中心部位；“框对”贴于左右两个门框上；“横披”贴于门楣的横木上；“春条”根据不同的内容，贴于相应的地方；“斗斤”也叫“门叶”，为正方菱形，多贴在家具、影壁中。而“福”字指福气、福运，寄托了人们对幸福生活的向往，对美好未来的祝愿。为了更充分地体现这种向往和祝愿，人们就将“福”字倒过来贴，表示“幸福已到”、“福气已到”。

在这一天，走亲访友当然也是少不了的。父母都会带着孩子们到亲戚朋友家给长辈拜年。长辈要将事先准备好的压岁钱分给晚辈，相传压岁钱可以压住邪祟，因为“岁”与“祟”谐音，晚辈得到压岁钱就可以平平安安度过一岁。而民间认为分压岁钱给孩子，当恶鬼妖魔或“年”（传说中，中国古时候的怪兽，头长尖角，凶猛异常，“年”兽长年深居海底，每到除夕，爬上岸来吞食牲畜伤害人命。）去伤害孩子时，孩子可以用这些钱贿赂它们而化凶为吉。在吴曼云《压岁钱》这首诗中写道：“百十钱穿彩线长，分来再枕自收藏，商量爆竹谈箫价，添得娇儿一夜忙。”

放爆竹也是中国的民间习俗之一，爆竹亦称“鞭炮”、“炮仗”，在我国已有两千多年的历史了，相传最早的爆竹是人们焚烧竹子而发出的巨响，用来吓走“年”。而现在，放爆竹这个历史悠久的传统已经成为我国人民（尤其是孩子们）欢度春节的一种不可缺少的形式。这种活动，虽然可以给节日增添欢乐的气氛，可是却大大影响了自然环境，严重的还可能引发火灾，所以我们应该尽可能少燃放烟花爆竹，以保护自然环境，同时保护我们的自身安全。

写到这里，我突然想起很多描写春节的古诗比如王安石的《元日》：“爆竹声中一岁除，春风送暖入屠苏。千门万户曈曈日，总把新桃换旧符。”文征明的《拜年》：不求见面惟通谒，名纸朝来满敝庐。我亦随人投数纸，世情嫌简不嫌虚。还有林伯渠的《春节看花市》：“迈街相约看花市，却倚骑楼似画廊；束立盆栽成列队，草株木本斗芬芳。通宵灯火人如织，一派歌声喜欲狂，正是今年风景美，千红万紫报春光。”……

春节、春节、春节。这个代名词结束了2012年，2013年从耀眼的阳光中向我们走来……

I like The Spring Festival. The Spring Festival is the most important festival for the Chinese people and is when all family members get together， just like Christmas in the West. All people living away from home go back， becoming the busiest time for transportation systems of about half a month from the Spring Festival. Airports， railway stations and long-distance bus stations are crowded with home returnees.

During Spring Festival， the most improtant days are Spring Festival Eve and the first three days.Many customs accompany the Spring Festival.

During Spring Festival time， you can see kinds of decorations.you can go to temple fairs and enjoy superb performances of the dances， stilt-walking and amazing acrobatic shows.
