Dear Sir,

I am writing to apply for a British Council scholarship to study in Britain. I did my five years basic training in medicine at Shanghai University. After this I successfully completed a one-year postgraduate course in Ophthalmology at the Peoples General Hospital, where I am at present serving a two-year probation in the Eye Clinic.

As a result of the publication in 2003 of my article in New Scientist entitled "Soft and Rigid Contact Lenses ", which was based on a survey of 37 patients over 6 months, I made contact with Dr. Li Ming of the Capital Hospital and Dr. Ma Li of the University College Hospital. I have received their help and advice with my current research project, which is a two-year survey of the acceptance of various types of contact lenses in 200 patients.

Despite their help, I feel that I cannot make real progress in this field unless I can actually have day-to-day contact with these specialists. I would therefore like to continue my research at either the Capital Hospital or the UCH as soon as my probationary period here is completed, and I would like to study in Britain for two years.

I enclose a detailed curriculum vitae and an offprint of my article, together with two letters of recommendation from Dr. Li Ming and Dr. Ma Li.

LostTimeis never found again. This is something which I learned very

clearly last semester. I spent so much time fooling around that my grades began

to suffer. I finally realized that something had to be done. It was time for a

change. Now I have a new plan for using my time wisely. I have set my alarm

clock ahead half an hour. This will give me a head start on the day. I have also

decided to keep a log of what I do and when I do it. Looking back on what I’ve

done will give me some ideas on how to reorganize my time.

火速起床、洗脸，匆匆刷牙，心不在焉地扒了一口，赶紧往学校飞奔。啥日子?干嘛这么心急火燎?

秋游，百年不遇的一次集体秋游啊!今天我们要去双龙洞!在这节骨眼上，我竟然睡过了头!

来到学校，看了看手表，还好，还好，离八点还有20分钟，我松了口气。教室里，同学们有的在整理东西，有的在聊天，还有的觉得无聊，拿起拍照要用的手机玩了起来。

人到齐了，老师让我们排队上了公交车，一会儿便到了双龙洞。

进了景区，我们坐小船来到了洞内，许许多多像剑一样的钟乳石悬在我们头顶，好像随时都有可能掉下来。

岩壁两旁有许许多多的怪石有的像一只倒立的青蛙，有的像一只去了耳朵的羊，还有的像两条黄龙……这莫非就是双龙洞名字的来历?

这些怪石到哪里都有，真是形态各异，争奇斗艳，让你不得不赞叹大自然的鬼斧神工!

美好的时光总是那么短暂，不知不觉就到了吃午饭的点，我们坐上大巴车去浙师大，在那儿边吃午饭边闲谈。

天下没有不散的宴席，秋游活动结束了，同学们还意犹未尽。这次秋游活动不仅让我懂得了凡事预则立不预则废的重要性，也让我收获了一些知识，增进了和同学之间的友谊。

下一次，我还会再来!

互相关爱

“叮零零……”，随着一阵阵清脆的铃声响起，老师宣布我们下课了。并叮嘱我们说：“暴风雪马上就要来临了，你们要赶快回家，不能在路边逗留玩耍，一定要注意安全！”我和同学们听完后马上收拾好书包，跑出了教室。

来到路边，我看见天空中乌云滚滚，路上人来人往，都急着往家里赶，我也加快了脚步。当我走到一个“十”字路口时，突然，一位骑自行车的叔叔把一个小女孩撞倒在地，他看见没人注意就赶快骑车溜走了。我看见那个小姑娘的脚擦破了皮，并且有血迹渗出来了，小姑娘一下子被吓得哭了起来。路上的行人也没有去理会她。我觉得她好可怜就连忙走过去，用妈妈给我装在书包里的手巾纸帮她擦血迹，她一边哭一边叫：“疼！疼！好疼……！”我说：“你忍着点儿，擦干净了我就送你回家，你住在哪里呀？”“在世纪广场”她哽咽着说，“真巧呀！我也住在那里。”我擦好了就扶着她一瘸一拐地回家去。

终于走到了她家门口，她告诉我到了，我帮忙敲了敲门，小姑娘的妈妈把我们迎了进去问清了原委，并连忙向我道谢，还拿出糖果和饼干给我吃，我很不好意思就赶快回家了。

走在回家的路上，虽然天空一片灰暗，但是我还是感到心情格外的愉快。因为我今天做了一件非常有意义的事，同时明白了帮助他人，才能快乐自己！我希望每个人都能献出一点爱心，千万不能像那位叔叔那样对自己的行为不负责任！

时光匆匆，转眼间，我将要告别六年的小学生活，心中有些暗暗的不舍……

青青草地

走进校园，那一排排高大而又笔直的杨柳使我难以忘怀;小花园中，那一簇簇粉红的满天星使我难以忘怀;操场上，那草地，还像六年前我刚踏进校园的一样，依旧那倔强地生长着，依旧充满了勃勃生机。如今即将离开母校，这里的一草一木怎么能让人忘怀呢?

还记得五年级的那次趣味运动会上，我们全班参加了集体项目：拔河比赛。起初我使出了全部的力气，放手一搏，可惜对方实力太强，我们还是不相上下。在我几乎就要放弃的时候，我后面的同学突然大声地对大家说：“加油啊!我们马上就要胜利了!”大家听了这句话，又斗志满满，我们团结一心，双手紧握生字，一、二、三拉，终于，那红红的彩带过了我们的河界——我们胜利了!我们如同夺得了奥运会金牌一般，抱在一起欢呼着、说笑着，这声声笑语

谆谆教诲

六年中是老师倾注了心血，把我们从一个个年幼无知的孩子培养成为一名有知识，懂道理的少年。老师就是我们前进路上的导航。记得那是六年级的一次月考，我只考了九十二分，老师把我叫到了办公室，她拿着我们的卷子，面色严肃地对我说：“错在哪了?”我如实地回答着：“以为马虎，所以得数错了。”老师又语重心长地说：“孩子，今后道路你要自己走，马虎是学习上的大敌，不能因为马虎毁了前程。”我听了老师的话，不禁潸然泪下，老师为我擦去了眼泪，我又破涕为笑。

校园的青青草地

Winter holiday is coming. I am so excited.

In this winter holiday, I am going to take a trip with my parents by plane.We are going to Beijing. Then, I am going to go ice skating there. I am going to see the snow. I will play with the snow. Before I go to sleep, I like to listen to soft music, it can help me relax

屈原是战国时期出国人，很有学问。他在楚王身边做官，以形象是自己的国家富强起来。昏君楚王却听信奸臣的话，把屈原削职流放。在流放中，屈原听说楚国的都城被敌人占领，百姓遭难，悲愤极了。五月初五这一天，他来到汨罗江边，怀抱一块石头，以纵身跳入汨罗江中。出国的百姓听到屈原投江的消息，都十分悲痛。他们含着泪划着船赶来打捞屈原，还把粽子扔到江里喂鱼，希望鱼儿不要伤害屈原的身体。这就是五月端阳包粽子的来历。

端午节还有许多有趣的活动。列如赛龙舟，挂香囊，香囊内有朱砂、雄黄、香药，外包以丝布，清香四溢，再以五色丝线弦扣成索，作各种不同形状，结成一串，形形色色，玲珑夺目。还有挂艾叶、菖蒲的习惯。

端午节的活动可真多啊!

一头乌黑光亮的秀发下，有一张泛着红润的脸，一对水灵灵的眼睛显得炯炯有神。你们猜猜这是谁？这就是我——庄滢。

我喜欢给大家猜脑筋急转弯，当他猜不出是什么时，我说出答案时，总是令他大吃一惊。

每个人都有自己的优点和缺点，我也不例外。我的英语和写作都不错，我写的作文曾经被登在书上;英语还得过好几次奖呢！

我们都知道端午节是我国的民族节日，在那一天，人们会赛龙舟、包粽子等来纪念伟大的诗人——屈原。今天我们全家一起包粽子、吃粽子。

我的母亲在端午节之前就把粽叶买回来了。并在头天晚上，把江米、花生米、枣、等各种东西准备好了，又把买回来的棕叶在锅里煮了一会，粽叶的清香漫漫的从锅里散发出来，那淡淡的清香跑进了我的鼻子里，我的口水都要流出来了。

马上就要开始包粽子了，我兴奋不已。只见我的母亲先拿一张粽叶，然后再卷成像喇叭似得桶，再在“喇叭”里装上准备好的江米、花生米、枣等各种东西把它紧紧地包成一个三角形，再用一根线绑起来。我很好奇，也想试一下，我的母亲同意了，我就学着我的母亲的样子做。可我没注意到，在我的母亲绑“喇叭桶”时没有透一点点缝，可我透了一个大大的缝，当我已经用线绑好之后，才发现里面的食物都从那个大缝逃走了我气愤愤地说：“这是怎么回事？”我的母亲耐心的给我讲，我听取了我的母亲的劝告，又做了一次，然后用线绑起来，包的是妖不是妖，是鬼不是鬼。

煮完了，我把锅盖一掀开，一股清香味跑了出来，又忽然很惊讶，我发现我包的粽子里面的食物溢了出来，想一个爆炸三角。我又难过又快乐，因为我既体会到劳动的快乐，还尝到了自己包的粽子。

Computer has considered to be one of the most important inventions in 20

century. It has brought many changes in this world. With the rapid development

of science and technology, more and more people have their own personal

computer. It’s not only can do the calculations at a very high speed, but also

can access to the Internet to get information from the outside world.

Computers play an very vital role in our daily life. They can do a lot of

things. Access to the Internet, you can find the answers to your questions, you

can do on line shopping without going outside. Computer has provided us lots of

convenience. There is no doubt that people can have a better life with

computer.

Some people worry about that someday computers may replace human beings.

Then most people will have no jobs. However, in my opinion, computers are not

人人都知道元宵节，月亮比中秋节还圆，喜庆味儿比除夕还足，美丽的灯笼把黑夜照得比白天还亮。

元宵节是正月十五，也是农历新年的第一个月圆之夜，天上的明月与彩灯交辉相映，美得宛如人间仙境，所以它还有个“小名”——元夜，之所以叫元夜，是因为“夜”和“宵”在古代是一个意思。元宵在很久以前是一个祭祀的日子，后来才逐渐演变成了一个娱乐的节日。

明朝和清朝的时候，元宵节迎来了“节生”中的巅峰，朱元璋先是把吃豆粥改成了吃元宵。元宵又叫汤圆，外面是一层白白的糯米粉，又柔又韧，里面的馅更是多种多样，有绿豆沙馅的，有红豆馅的，有芝麻馅的，还有各式水果馅的呢!我最喜欢芝麻馅，吃起来香甜可人，美味极了!元宵还有团圆的意思，十足的美味又美好。

明朝时期，有一种龙灯，民众和军士们都玩，有十余丈的，也有百余节的，玩起来多则上百人，龙会跟着绣球灵活地做出扭、挥、仰、跪、跳、摇等动作，用来祈求平安与丰收。而另一种纱灯则是在上面作画，越是高手画的，灯就越有价值。我最喜欢走马灯，一圈圈地动着，有《西游记》、《水浒传》、《三国演义》等，人物都有趣又不失美观，好玩极了。

美味诱人的元宵，气势磅礴的龙灯，精美绝伦的纱灯，这真是“银烛影中明月下，相逢俱是踏灯人”啊!
