同学们会笑话我，要不就放弃吧!担又转念一想，如果就此放弃，太可惜了，还会给班级扯后腿，不行，第三次我一定要加油。坚定信心后，我卯足了劲，在同学们的鼓励下，我紧握双拳，全神贯注的助跑，快跑到沙坑的时候，我使出浑身的力量，纵身一跳，啊，这次的成绩比前两次的都好，同学们都替我高兴，纷纷给我鼓掌。

下一个项目是接力比赛，老师带我们来到起跑线上，给我们讲了比赛规则。我是接力比赛第一组上场的，一声枪响，我们飞快的跑起来，同学们你追我赶，毫不示弱。跑了一半的时候，我已经大汗淋漓，气喘吁吁，两腿发麻，一点力气也没有了。

哦，真不想再跑了，可是听见同学给我的加油声，我觉得我不能放弃，同学们信任我，选我为班级代表来比赛，我一定要拿到好成绩，一定要坚持下来。我使出浑身的力气拼命的跑着，在同学们得呐喊声中，我终于第一个到达了终点。最后，在我们班同学的共同努力下，我们班夺得了第一名。

According to a recent article on Newsweek concerning children’s’ education,

there is an increasing number of parents worrying their kids to an extreme

extent, depriving them of independence and freedom by keeping them around

parents all the time.

Some people applaud this phenomenon, suggesting that kids’ safety is the

most important. Thus, they’d better not enter the hazardous society without

supervision unless they become adults. From my point of view, some of their

opinion is correct but keeping children away from independence is a completely

erroneous decision. The reasons are as follows:

First and foremost, “locking kids” may hinder their healthy growth, both

mentally and physically. The kids who are locked may have heavy reliance on

their parents, as their comprehensive skills such as communication skills or

cooperative spirit being prevented from developing.

Secondly, what these parents fail to see is the fact that the crime rate

and accidents aren’t on a rapid rise. It is the abuse of mass media that make

crimes and violence more scary. The parents, who love their kids so much, are

completely forced to live under the illusion that our society is full of riots

or threats of accidents. Thus, kids can be allowed to have more freedom such as

walking to school by himself, for instance.

From what has been discussed above, we may safely draw a conclusion that

kids should be given more freedom by parents’ effort. At the same time, parents

should take many factors into consideration such as the time restriction for

children and the evaluation to kids’ maturity and capability. Only then can they

enjoy a safe and meaningful childhood.

People always complain time is limited, they want to have more time to do more things, but the time stops them. Actually, I once feel my time is less while others have a lot of time to do what they want. I start to think about myself, I realize that I always waste my time on playing computer games, so I decide to not to play computer games.

New Year is the biggest festival for Chinese people. After about half a

month, there is a traditional festival, it is the Lantern Festival, which is

also important. The first round moon day in the New Year is special. People

continue to celebrate the New Year and enjoy the time with their families.

The coming of Lantern Festival is various. Some people said that it is

related with Buddha. When the Buddhas meditated, they need light in front of

them, so the light can drive away monster for people. Today, in some areas,

people light up lanterns to beg for a son from god. No matter what the story is,

the traditional festival is favored by people and the government pays special

attention to remind this tradition.

There are many activities on Lantern Festival, and the most traditional

game is the riddle. People can read some riddles that are written in the

lanterns. They can get prizes if they know the answers. I love riddle so much,

because when I figure out the answers, I will be very proud of myself, at the

I like dancing very much. I learn to dance from four years old. Until now,

there are already nine years. I take part in many activities, because I think I

want to perform in front of people. I have a good dance teacher. She dances very

well. She is strict with me. Once I make mistakes, she points it out directly. I

learn a lot from her. Now, we are good friends. She always encourages me. I

think dance is good to me. I make many dancing friends. And it’s good way to

在我多姿多彩的生活中，有过许许多多的第一次，但要提起最难忘的，莫过于是20xx年暑假最刺激的第一次。

在20xx年的暑假里，我到了香港的海洋公园，疯狂地玩着各种机动游戏，最后，就打算玩下从未玩过的“越矿飞车”，我光看到名字就觉得很好玩，于是迫不及待地冲上前去排队。

车，又回到刚刚出发的地方，我下了车，但似乎还没有回过神来，我向后望了一望，一个比我小一两岁的小女孩，却显得那么自在，难道我比她胆小吗?是的，这一点我不得不承认。

从那以后，我暗下决心，一定要锻炼自己的胆量，如果胆量小，又能够做些什么大事呢?

There is always a pile of smelly rubbish in front of the building we live. Everyone has to cover his nose with his hand while he passes by. One day, our teacher told us in class some good deeds done by Uncle Lei Feng. I was moved deeply by that. So after school, I started to clear the rubbish away. Now my neighbors dont have to cover their noses.

我们家住的楼前总是有一堆垃圾，天长日久都发出了恶臭。人们经过时都得捂着鼻子。有一次课堂上，老师给我们讲了雷锋叔叔助人为乐的故事，我被深深地感动了。于是我放学回家后就开始清扫那堆垃圾。现在我的邻居们就不必捂着鼻子进家门了。

上课了，原本热闹的操场变得安静，大家撒腿就往教室跑。这次活动不但让我学会了守门，而且还锻炼了身体，所以我要多参加课外活动。

有一天，我梦见自己变成了一片银杏树叶，此时正是冬天，北风肆虐地扫荡着大地，大雪覆盖了马路，一个人影都没见到。我禁不住北风的呼啸，在空中像陀螺似的打转，最后飘飘悠悠地落在马路上。接着，一片梧桐树叶落了下来，摔在我旁边。

我们两片树叶太普通，谁也未曾去留意，车辆的轮胎无情地从我们身上碾压过去。“哎哟，痛死我了!”梧桐树叶痛苦地呻吟起来，望了望躺在身边的我。他好奇地问道：“喂，朋友，你痛不痛啊?”“怎么会不痛呢?”我平静地回答。梧桐树想：“唉，我们现在就这样被践踏，这世界太不公平了。”我看出了他的心思，说道：“我们曾经为人们遮风挡雨，这不是很好吗?”梧桐树叶哀叹道：“有什么好的，我们落下来要么腐烂，要么被环卫工人丢进垃圾桶，宣告我们一生走到了尽头。”话音刚落，空气仿佛凝固一般变得沉重，就连我的心也隐隐作痛“话也不能过么说，并不是每片树叶都像你说的那样。风会带我们去游览，也可能被人做成精美的标本或书签。”我擦了擦眼泪抬起头说道。梧桐树叶冷笑道：“你想的太美了。”

I am a December 2003 graduate from the University of San Francisco (USF) with a bachelors degree in International Business. As part of my career planning, I am very interested in supplementing my international business education with a basic knowledge of the Chinese language. I already have information from BLCU and hope to study there for at least one full year starting with this summers program continuing through the fall and spring semester 2006. Can your office advise me if such scholarships might be available to me?

I have been studying Chinese for one year now. I am not sure what level I belong to. I was told that there will be an HSK test in our university in September. I am planning to attend the test. But I dont know if the result of the test is recognized by your university. If so, can it be a help for me to apply for the scholarship?

接着，对门的王爷爷进来了，说：“走啊，老张，老年文化中心有节目，让咱们去唱戏。”一听这个，爷爷很痛快的就走了，爸爸妈妈也说：“走，看爷爷唱戏去！”说完就走了。

Dear Sir,

I am writing to apply for a British Council scholarship to study in Britain. I did my five years basic training in medicine at Shanghai University. After this I successfully completed a one-year postgraduate course in Ophthalmology at the Peoples General Hospital, where I am at present serving a two-year probation in the Eye Clinic.

As a result of the publication in 2003 of my article in New Scientist entitled "Soft and Rigid Contact Lenses ", which was based on a survey of 37 patients over 6 months, I made contact with Dr. Li Ming of the Capital Hospital and Dr. Ma Li of the University College Hospital. I have received their help and advice with my current research project, which is a two-year survey of the acceptance of various types of contact lenses in 200 patients.

Despite their help, I feel that I cannot make real progress in this field unless I can actually have day-to-day contact with these specialists. I would therefore like to continue my research at either the Capital Hospital or the UCH as soon as my probationary period here is completed, and I would like to study in Britain for two years.

I enclose a detailed curriculum vitae and an offprint of my article, together with two letters of recommendation from Dr. Li Ming and Dr. Ma Li.

勇气是一个真正的男子汉必备的品质。勇气不是天生就有的，是需要慢慢培养的。曾经一段时间，“胆怯”这个敌人伴随了我很久。 Courage is a real quality of a real man.Courage is not born, it needs to be cultivated slowly.For a while, the enemy "timid" accompanied me for a long time.

那时我九岁，在某一个早上，我的肚子特别痛，疼得我昏昏沉沉的，浑身没有一点力气。妈妈带我去医院检查。大夫为我进行了仔细的检查，并让我去抽血化验。当我听到要抽血时，我的腿都发软了，我从小就最怕打针了，记得有一次护士在我的头上扎了三针，都没扎进去，疼痛的感觉我至今记忆犹新……但没有办法，在妈妈严厉的眼神下，我勉强跟着妈妈去了化验室。

只见护士的手指间夹着一块药棉为我的手臂消毒，并用一根皮筋绑在我的胳膊上。随后又转身去拿针头。当她转过身来的时候，我感觉到她手中的针头怎么这么“粗”……心里想着那一阵阵巨痛正在狞笑着向我走来，我紧张得要命，手攥得紧紧的。就在针头快要接触我的皮肤的一霎那，我猛地将胳膊抽了回来，由于用力太大，差点摔个跟头。

护士生气了，说还算是男子汉呢，没见过我这样没有勇气的小孩。在羞愧不已的同时，我的心里还是很矛盾，就是鼓不起勇气。我犹豫着，是抽呢?还是不抽呢?不抽吧，我的病不但好不了，还得挨大人说;抽吧，又要忍受剧痛。在我的眼中，那只小小的针头已变得又粗又大。

我用企求的目光望着妈妈说：“我不想抽血。”妈妈说：“你已经是大孩子了，要有勇气。”这时，我也想起了爸爸经常对我说的一句话：如果有一件事，你很不想做，但这件事又必须去做，那么你就要鼓足勇气，克服困难，踏踏实实地去做。思前想后，我终于找回了勇气，把胳膊伸了出来。

这件事情过去快有三年的时间了，每当我想起这件事，我就对自己说：“恐惧只能增加你心里的负担，要排除万难，战胜恐惧。”勇气在人的一生中是非常重要的，无论干什么都需要勇气。我已经找回了勇气，终于战胜了这只纸老虎。

我有个愿望，就是自己也拥有一朵七色花，那时我就可以做许多我想做的事了。

我首先把一片红色的花瓣送到伊拉克战场，让硝烟弥漫的战场被灿烂的阳光和欢悦的笑脸代替，让刀枪厮杀的场面变成握手言和的祥和气氛。那时候，我们的地球就多了一份和平，少了一份战争，世界人民都在安全、平和的环境中快乐地生活。

我再把橙色的花瓣扔向空中，让中国成为一流的商贸城，一座座大商场拔地而起。商场里的人们，运用智慧的头脑，过人的胆识，上等的服务和过硬的商品质量以及严格的管理制度，使中国更加繁华。那时候，不管你要买什么，都会得到热情周到的服务。

我还要把绿色的花瓣捧给小草，让小草重新发芽，让废气自动过滤，让小草不再枯黄，无论何时它都泛出盈盈的绿色，呈现出生机勃勃的景象。

我还要把蓝色的花瓣洒向蓝天和大海，让天空明净，海水湛蓝，空中的小鸟欢快地鸣唱，大海中的鱼儿自由地游玩......那时候，我们的心情多么畅快。

用完了七色花，我们周围的一切都会像刚造出宇宙万物时那么美丽，那么祥和，没有战争、没有污染、没有......有的只是大自然最初赋于我们的宁静、和平和自然。

世界如果能像这样美好，那该有多好啊!

人生中有许许多多的第一次。第一次往往令人难忘，令人回味无穷。我一想起第一次洗碗，我就会发笑。

记得那是暑假里的一天，爸爸妈妈都不在家，我闲着没事干，便想帮妈妈做点家务――把碗洗干净。我心想，这是我第一次洗碗，想必我一定要好好表现，让妈妈高兴高兴。首先，我像我妈妈一样系好围裙，然后把所有的盘盘碟碟集中在一块，嘴里哼着小曲，便开始"动工"啰！然后，拧开水龙头，水"哗啦啦"地流着，这使我不由得想起了一句诗："飞流直下三千尺，疑是银河落九天。"好诗呀，好诗。我久久地沉思在诗海中，手不经意从橱柜里拿出一个瓶子，就往水里倒，突然，我好像嗅到一股强烈的花生油味儿，是那样香浓。我定神，低头一看，哇，怎么是花生油呢。这下可好了，所有的盘盘碟碟都变得黄澄澄，亮晶晶的了！我苦笑一下，只好从橱柜的第二层里找到洗洁精来收拾这场闹剧。这下我可要看清楚，仔细一看，洗洁精这家伙似乎在对我嬉皮笑脸，好像在对我说点什么，可我耸耳一听，什么也没有，不用说，这家伙肯定是在笑我粗心大意！我很生气，于是，把它用力狠狠地挤。很快我又闻到了一股清香的菊花味儿，原来我的"榄菊洗洁精"全被我挤光了。算了吧，用多一点洗洁精，也许会干净些。我自我安慰着，于是，我马上行动起来，洗着，洗着，不一会儿，就出现了成千上万的白泡泡，我双手捧着一吹，便出现了无数个小泡泡，有的像小球，有的像雪花，有的像精灵，美丽极了。转念一想，我要排除干扰，很快不要浪费人力财力了。很快我就把碗洗得一干二净了，这时我额上已经布满汗珠了，想起能帮妈妈减轻些家务负担，我用袖子擦擦汗，欣慰地笑了。

不知妈妈如何评价我的工作呢这个第一次可给我许多人生感悟――人就是这样长大的。
