洪水过后，一些幸存者侥幸活了下来，他们有的失去孩子，有的失去父母，并且失去了食物和生活用品。在这些村民当中，有一个青年人名叫张亮，他年仅十八，父母亲都在洪水中被冲走了，只有他和他年幼的弟弟张龙活了下来。他每天在洪水淹没的地方不停的寻找，希望能够找到父母的下落，更希望父母还在活着。就这样，一天一天过去了，希望渐渐变成了失望但他还是没有放弃仍然在不停的寻找。有一天，在寻找的过程中他碰见了一位老人，这位老人看到张亮失魂落魄的样子就走了过来问：“孩子，你在这里找什么呢?”张亮说：“我的父母被洪水冲走了，至今下落不明。现在只剩下我和我弟弟了。”老人说：“孩子，在这场灾难中不知有多少个家庭失去了亲人，不知有多少人妻离子散，我们不应该一直沉浸在痛苦和悲伤中，我们要积极的去帮助那些需要帮助的人们，只有在灾难中坚强、勇敢、乐观的活下去才能对得起失去的亲人们。我相信，他们的在天之灵也不会希望像你现在这样生活”张亮说：“因为父母失去了消息，让我一直摆脱不了思念的情绪，忘记了自己还应该有更多的责任帮助和我一样的人们，你的这一番话使我茅塞顿开，人不应该私心太重，只顾自己，在大灾大难面前首先应该想到的是如何帮助别人，而不应该想着自己的小圈子等待别人来帮助。”老人笑笑说：“好啊小伙子，你这样想就对了。但是，靠你和我两个人的力量是不行的，我们应该把周围的人团结起来，大家拧成一股绳，没有什么困难克服不了，再大的灾难也压不跨我们。”

张亮想着老人说的话，觉得只要大家齐心协力、众志成城就一定能重新建设自己的家园，重新过上幸福的生活。俗话说 “一人难挑千斤担，众人能移万座山。”“滴水不成海，独木难成林。”灾难已经发生，现在最主要的是重建家园。想到这，他连忙拉住老人的手说：“老人家，真谢谢你，我年轻有的是力气，只要你振臂一挥我们跟随着你，重建我们的家园。”在外面的救援还没有到达的情况下，他们首先开展了自救互救，救治伤员，维持社会秩序，用现有的条件解决吃、住问题。

虽然这次受灾损失严重，但令人感到欣慰的是，灾情发生后，受灾区县和有关部门行动果断、措施得力、组织及时，使受灾群众得到妥善安置，而且，灾后重建的工作措施除解决好日常生活外，在开展恢复生产的同时强调了保护环境的重要性，通过这次灾难也教育了这个村的人们，要与自然和谐相处，如果乱砍乱伐必将受到大自然的惩罚。
