长期以来，人们并不把治理污水放在心上，而放任污水横流，甚至把大江小河当作城市“清洁器”，只望一江春水向东流，带走垃圾和废物。据联合国统计调查，全球河流的稳定流失的40%左右已被污染。

水污染不仅仅对淡水，而且海洋污染的情况也是令人震惊的。海洋的浩瀚无边与自动净化能力，使人类一直把海洋当作最好最大的天然垃圾坑，倾废是人类利用海洋的主要方式。各国特别是工业国家每年都向海洋倾倒大量废物，如工业废物、疏浚污泥、放射性废物等。

回顾历史，水是养育了人类，造就了文明。两河流域兴起了古巴比伦文明，尼罗河创造了古埃及文明，黄河是中华文明的发源地，海洋使古希腊文明一度辉煌。但今天，水却成为人类生存的障碍。1977年，联合国警告全世界：“水不久将成为一项严重的社会危机，石油危机之后的下一个危机是水。”

面临这严峻的水资源形势，我们应该做些什么去保护水资源呢？

1、要有惜水意识。长期以来，人们普遍认为水资源是 “取之不尽，用之不竭”的，不知道爱惜水资源，有的甚至将水白白浪费。例如：洗手、洗脸、刷牙时，让水一直流着；设备漏水，不及时修好等等。这使水资源越来越紧缺，自来水更加来之不易。爱惜水资源是节水的基础，只有意识到“节约水光荣，浪费水可耻”，才能时时处处注意节水。

2、不污染水资源。现在生活上总是存在着污染水资源的情况：如农药、重金属、化学物质、油类以及各种垃圾被人为的排入水中；大量的生活污水也被排入河流，造成水域的污染，就连地下水也难逃厄运，而且排放的生活污水还大大超出了水本身的自净能力，于是水污染就越发的严重。因此，为了防止水污染，我们应该从身边的小事做起，比如：使用无磷的洗衣粉……当我们看见破坏水资源的行为时，还要积极的向有关部门举报。

3、使用节水器具。家庭节水除了注意养成良好的用水习惯以外，采用节水器具很重要，也最有效。可是为了省钱，很多人宁可放任自流，也不肯更换节水器具。其实，据统计：一个使用节水器具的家庭，比不使用节水器具家庭平均一年内所节省的水，足够1亿个成年人喝2~3个月！所以，我们也应该尽可能的把家里都换上节水器具！

4、多宣传。长期以来，大多数人有节约用水的理念，但缺少具体的行动，大手大脚的现象还比较普遍。因此，我们更要大力宣传水资源的保护知识，并树立起好榜样，让广大市民都模仿去做！
