My father used to be a heavy somker.He smoked more than 20 cigarets each

day;therefore,he was the polluter wherever he went.My mother and I tried to

persuade him to give it up.He gave it up many times but each time only for a few

days or only for a few hours.

Once he declared that he would stop smoking right away under the pressure

of my mother,and he threw his cigarets into the dustbin.The effect of his

declaration lasted only for two days.Then I found him smoking again when he

thought that he was alone and no one saw him.On the fifth day of his

declaration,he smoked openly.

Last winter he got pneumonia.When he was well again,the doctor ordered him

to give up smoking.To our delight,this time he really got rid of the habit.It

seems that the doctors order is more effective than mothers scolding,my

Halloween

Halloween always falls on 31 October. It’s a holiday for children. On that day, children always wear fancy clothes and masks. people who live in there.Even though in the winter it is still warmer than any

about the haze weather, which causes lots of bad effects on our health and life.

We breathe polluted air, making us suffer from lung and liver diseases. Besides,

because of it, the flights have to be canceled. All kind of transports may run

into each other, resulting in much damages and lots of injuries.

As far as I am concerned, it is high time that we did something. As

individuals, we should ride the underground or buses instead of cars to reduce

carbon dioxide. As government, more measures should be taken by carrying out the

related law on pollution.

In summary, we’re all looking forward to breathe fresher air and live a

happier life. Everyone should be a part of this job.

a traditional Chinese festival held on the fifth day of the fifth month of the

Chinese calendar.Dragon Boat festival memorializes the Chinese poet Qu Yuan.He

committed suicide by drowning himself in a river because he was disgusted by the

corruption of the Chu government.People sat on dragon boats,and tried to scare

the fishes away by the thundering sound of drums.Hence,toady we sail the dragon

boats to celebrate this festival.Also,people eat zongzi (the food originally

intended to feed the fishes) in memory of Qus dramatic death.

If the most beautiful season of the year is spring, for me, the most

interesting festival of the year is the new years Eve! On that day, we should

not only eat family reunion dinner, but also staying-up late on new years

eve.

Remember that the day to eat reunion dinner, people began to play cards,

chat, play mahjong, our children, began playing the fun of firecrackers, there

awfully.

Qing Ming is a time to remember the dead and the dearly departed. More

important, it is a period to honour and to pay respect to ones deceased

ancestors and family members. Because it reinforces the ethic of filial piety,

Qing Ming is a major Chinese festival.

Literally meaning "clear" (Qing) and "bright" (Ming), this Chinese festival

falls in early spring, on the 106th day after the winter solstice. It is a

"spring" festival, and it is an occasion for the whole family to leave the home

and to sweep the graves of their forebears. Chinese being practical people this

sweeping of the graves is given an extended period, that is, 10 days before and

after Qing Ming day. Among some dialect groups a whole month is allocated.

Almost every kid will be asked the question of whom do you like better,

your mother or your father. There is no doubt that mother is very great as she

gives you the life, while father is also of importance. Father’s Day is invented

to show gratitude to fathers. Its coming has a story.

The first person to propose the idea of Father’s Day was Mrs. Dodd in 1906.

She wanted a special day to honor her father, whose wife passed away many years

ago. At first, Mrs. Dodd wanted Father’s Day to be celebrated on her father’s

birthday, but later President Johnson signed a paper to declare the third Sunday

of June was Father’s Day. Since then, it became an international day. It is not

only to honor one’s father, but also the fathers of all the people.

Father’s Day reminds people to show gratitude to their fathers, who loves
