The mini knitted garments have helped save hundreds of flightless birds caught in oil spills providing protection from the elements and stopping them from ingesting poisonous pollution.

Knits for Nature a program run by The Penguin Foundation which conserves the little penguin population of Phillip Island 140km south-east of Melbourne has created up to 300 different designs over the years - and its all thanks to talented volunteers.

‘There’s a lot of hidden creativity out there said Lyn Blom of the Phillip Island Nature Park.

People love to know that they’re helping the penguins because they’re so cute and small and they waddle up the beach and they’re so feisty. But they need to be they live in a pretty tough sort of environment.’

A thumbnail-sized patch of oil can kill little penguins the smallest of the species measuring just 13 inches (33cm) and weighing 2.2lbs (1kg). The oil separates and mats their feathers breaking natural waterproofing and heating functions.

Ms Blom estimates she has knitted between 200 and 300 penguin jumpers over the years including ones in the colours of every Australian Rules football team in the country.

A staff member read an article in an English women’s magazine about knitting for guillemot birds and decided to adapt the designs.

‘There’s an awful lot of ladies out there who used to knit for their children and grandchildren. These ladies have spare wool and idle hands and they love to feel loved and needed and we love and need them’ said Ms Blom.

The Penguin Foundation recently staged a competition for the most creative jumper which received an enthusiastic response.

The Penguin Foundation rescues approximately 20 birds a year. They even have a stockpile of jumpers in case of emergency - such as the large oil spill near Phillip Island in 2001.

In that instance 453 Little Penguins were affected 96 percent of which were saved - most thanks to the jumpers.

Today is my birthday and Im so excited about it. In the morning I put a note on the table for my mum and it said, "Today is my birthday, dont forget it!" At school, I got many gifts and cards from my classmates and had a lot of fun. But I was still expecting the birthday party after school.

When it was time to leave school I couldnt wait to go home. When I open the door, there wasnt anybody in the house. There was only a note that said, "Coming home late tonight,mum and dad. "I try to call them but there was no answer.I was so shocked,do they forget my birthday?How could this be! I was so sad that I couldnt eat anything. I just did my homework and waited for them.

And then,things changed completely. It was about time for dinner, my mother called and told me to go to the restanrant near our house. When I got there I couldnt believed my eyes. Everybody was there:my parents,my relatives, my friends and even my classmates. There was so many gifts and a big cake. What a surprising birthday party! We had a good time and it was the best birthday party ever.

今天是我的生日，我很兴奋。早上我把一张纸条放在桌子上对我的妈妈说，“今天是我的生日，别忘了它！”在学校里，我从我的同学那得到了许多礼物和卡片,我很开心。但我仍然期待放学后的生日晚会。

当放学的时候，我迫不及待的想回家。当我打开门的时候，没有人在房子里。只有一张纸条，说，“今晚会晚回家，妈妈和爸爸。”我试着打电话给他们，但没有人回答。我很震惊，他们忘了我的生日？怎么会是这样！我伤心的我不能吃下任何东西。我只是做了我的家庭作业，等他们。

然后，事情发生了变化。这是吃晚饭的时间了，我的母亲打电话告诉我去我家附近的餐馆。当我到那里的时候，我不能相信我的眼睛。大家都在那儿：我的父母，我的亲人，我的朋友和我的同学。有那么多的礼物和大蛋糕。多么令人惊喜的生日派对！我们都很开心，这是最好的生日晚会。

In my eye, my father is so adorable, because he can give me advices and help me to make the best decision. My father experienced a lot. When he graduated from college, his first job was to work in the office, then he found life was boring to sit in the office all the day, so he decided to quit and then started his trip to many places. My father had been traveled to many places, he opened his vision and then went back home to find another job he liked. When he met my mother, he thought it was time to settle down. I was so interested in his life experience, I couldn’t help thinking what if I go with him. I must will meet many new persons and then see the beautiful scenery. I want to live as my father, when the time comes, I will travel too.

在我眼里,我的父亲是如此的可敬,因为他能给我建议和帮助我做出最好的决定。我父亲经历了很多。当他从大学毕业时,他的第一份工作是在办公室里工作,然后他发现生活是多么的无聊，整天坐在办公室里,所以他决定辞职,然后开始他去很多地方。我父亲已经去过很多地方,他开阔了视野,然后回到家找到另一个他喜欢的工作。当他遇见了我母亲,他认为是时候安定下来。我对他的生活经验很感兴趣, 忍不住想如果我和他一起去会怎么样。我一定会遇到很多不认识的人,然后看到美丽的风景。我想像我父亲那样活着,当时机成熟的时候，我也会去旅游。

从小，我的梦想就是当一名出色的翻译家，能够说好一口流利的英语一直是我梦寐以求的事情。

一天，我又在为成为翻译家做准备了——沉浸在深深的题海中“无法自拔”。正当我看着这密密麻麻的字母，费劲地解读文字时，耳边传来一阵命令声：“依霖，帮我买瓶药吧，这几天喉咙有点疼！”“好咧！”我听了，暗暗自喜：正好想找点事情多，闷得慌！

我不紧不慢地走到了药店。远远地望去，前面有一堆人围在药店门口，也不知是怎么的，满脸着急，还用手比划着什么。看到这一幕，好奇心驱使我去看看情况。走近一看，原来是一位老外找店员买药，但却又不懂中文，才如此焦急。

老外看见了我走过去，便连忙叫我过去，满怀希望地问我：“你会英文吗？”也不知道是怎么了，我竟然脱口而出那平时积累的词汇：“我会，你需要什么帮助吗？”其实在我说完后的一瞬间就后悔了，可能因为这是我第一次翻译的原因，在老外面前，总怕自己会说错，平时的那些读音全部忘记了，现在我的脑子如同白纸一般。看着老外那激动的神情，我的内心更加忐忑了，但我告诉自己，不要紧张，从容应对就好。

这时，老外把两只手放在头上，还扇了几下，嘴里还笨拙地发出“嗷嗷嗷”的声响，有时还说了几个单词。我不停地在脑子里搜索单词和对应的中文意思，过了好一会儿，才想起这原来是“熊”的意思。无论是动作还是单词，都是相对应的。想到以后，我又接着思索了一会儿，才匆匆忙忙地告诉店员是“熊胆”，直到老外点了点头，面露满意的微笑，我才如释重负，意识到手心里都是汗。

随后，我又买了自己需要的药品，飞快地跑回家。

我自己坐在房间里思索刚才发生的事情，对自己说：“一定要多练习，书到用时方恨少，事非经过不知难。”

In life there are too many people are worth to thank, for example, raising our parents, the inculcation of unity and friendship among teachers, students... And the most worth me to thank is my biological parents.

Parents brought me to this beautiful world, give me a very warm home, gave me the most unselfish love, accompany me through a happy childhood. Parents to protect my time and time again I will never forget.

在人生旅途中有太多太多的人值得我们去感谢，例如：养育我们的父母、谆谆教诲的老师、团结友爱的同学……而最值得我去感谢的是我的生身父母。

父母将我带到这个美丽的世界，给我一个无比温暖的家，给了我最无私的爱、陪伴我渡过一个快乐的童年。父母对我的一次次保护使我终身难忘。

小时候我被陷入水沟，母亲不顾一切，立马将我拉了起来。而她的手心却被粗壁磨得血流不止。这次的经历，让我懂得父母的爱是最无私的。

不知不觉已告别欢乐的童年，迈进中学生阶段。父母给了我一次又一次的鼓励，使我在一次次考试中不负父母所望，名列前茅，得到一次又一次的奖励。

父母有时也十分严厉。有一次，我和弟弟为了一个玩具而大吵大闹，我明知是自己不对，可我还是不依不饶。事后，父母批评了吾一顿，我也知道我的过错。

父母生身之恩我无以回报，父母严厉的教诲我谨记心头，正是父母严厉的教诲、辛勤而无私的付出使我走上正直之路，走上阳光大道。

Movies

Today was very clear with no wind.

I practiced basktball in the morning. Then I went to the movies with Sandy. We saw White Nights. It was a very nice movie!I liked "Say you,say me"best of all the songs. Im fond of seeing musicals. The dancing is very beautiful and the music is pretty.
