每年都等着、盼着过春节。因为这是一年中最热闹的一天。

早晨，早早的起床，穿上妈妈早给准备好的新衣服、新鞋子。心里别提多高兴了！

现在农民生活好了，鸡鸭鱼肉是必不可少的，而孩子们最喜欢的却是那甜甜糖果儿，有的晶莹剔透，有的“红红火火”，这也是春节必备之一。再有就是买花炮了，那包装精致的柳叶鞭，更是我们男孩子的最爱。还有就是增添新衣服了，这是家乡的孩子所盼望的，穿着新衣服，心里那个美呀！

年三十那天走在大街上更是热闹，孩子们成帮结队的在大街上放花炮，无忧无虑的跟朋友们走街串巷。特别是各家各户都做着美味的佳肴，散出的那个味道，那真是香味扑鼻呀！下午黄昏时，火红的对联开始上门了，喜气洋洋的对联迎接着祝福，迎接着春天，迎接着各路大神的到来。晚上的除夕大餐就是饺子了，我们在家门口放鞭炮，而奶奶们却在自己家的院子里烧香拜神，烧元宝，拜五神，企求他们保佑我们一家平平安安。吃着香香的饺子，看着好看的春晚，一家人其乐融融，快要睡觉的时候，长辈们会在我们的枕头下面放上盼望已久的压岁钱。

大年三十的早上，每家每户的学生都要去商店买红纸自己根据家里的情况编写春联，无论编的水平如何、写的水平如何，它都象征了土家族人民除旧迎新的美好祝愿和希望。

贴完春联就由小孩子们贴年画，土家族年画是一种美丽的山水画、人物画、字画或其他画等等，它具有驱邪避鬼、拜祭祖宗、祈求富贵的画，家家户户布置得花花绿绿胜似仙宫。

贴门神也是老家过春节必须做的事，由长辈们在老家吊脚楼的大门上贴一种神象。每年春节必贴，图个吉利，也添气氛，驱鬼驱邪、增加喜色。听爸说：门神均是唐朝两位悍将，一位是勇猛无比的尉迟公，一位是百战百胜的秦叔宝。

接下来就是吃团年饭了，土家族的团年饭很讲究，比如吃饭时不能打破碗，如有发现便要注意人口损破。吃饭不能泡汤饭和喝汤，如果喝了汤水来年种田下地怕碰到雨天。要说吉利话，不打小娃，如打小娃，叫封印等等

但全家人吃团年饭之前，必须先要进行几分钟的叫饭，听爷爷说这是土家族祭祖的一种方式，也叫摆饭。这是过年不可少的一种祭祀活动，先摆上丰富菜肴在桌上，不急于品尝，而是静坐凝神，将筷子放在酒杯或饭碗上，由爷爷悼念：三代宗祖老少亡人，地盘业主古老前人前来吃饭饮酒。念完后才能吃团年饭。

吃完团年饭后要进行送亮，就是三十日晚上，要给先亡送亮到坟前，在坟前点烧腊烛，摆上饭菜，燃放鞭炮以示怀念。

夜晚来临后，就是我们常说的守岁了，我们全家人围火而坐，这天晚上爸爸说要保证灯火通明，相传三十的火，十五的灯。三十晚上灯也不灭，家里的每一个地方都要有灯不能是黑处，黑处必藏瘟神、瘟疫，因此必须用灯火照明，让瘟神、瘟疫无藏身之地，来年人口清洁平安，无瘟疫流行。

春节是个欢乐祥和的节日，也是亲人团聚的日子，离家在外的孩子在过春节时都要回家欢聚。腊月三十夜，也叫除夕，又叫团圆夜，在这新旧交替的时候，守岁是最重要的年俗活动之一，除夕晚上，全家老小都一起熬年守岁，欢聚酣饮，共享天伦之乐。
