The Chinese have specific way to celebrate their new year. If you walk down the street in Chinatown during Chinese New Year, you see a variety of ancient traditions such as red banners, firecrackers and lion dance performances, streets are filled with lively celebration.

However, legend has said that the new year has not always been a time of festivity. An Asian Chinese story told a chilly start to this festive holiday, it begins with an ancient Chinese beast called Nian.

Every New Year Nian would rise from swelling in the sea to ravage Chinese village in livestock and hurting people. The villages soon found out from a wise gray-haired old man that the only way to scare the beast away was to set off firecrackers and light lamps and to hang red banners on each door. As the story goes, this was the beginning of a tradition that would last thousands of years.

So this story leads to the creation of many of other traditions for celebrating Chinese New Year. lets take a look at some of these traditions.

现在我给大家讲一下这本书的内容。这书上说有一个人叫召盘巴，他养了6条狗，这些狗都很笨。他又养了第七条狗，这第七条狗很聪明给它取名叫赤利。他和这条狗有一次去抓猎物的时候，碰到一头野猪，召盘巴差点被这头野猪撞去世。他一直都没看到赤利来帮他，所以不要自己的狗了。其实那个时候因为他的后面有条毒蛇，赤利去咬那几条毒蛇了。但是，召盘巴没有看到这个情景。

有一天，召盘巴出去放牛，他没有其它工具，只有一把弓箭。半路上碰见了一群豺，一共有12只。他赶紧拿起弓箭先射死了几只豺，但是还有好几只，这时他没有弓箭了。突然他发现了自己养的狗赤利来了，他以为赤利是来攻击自己的。可是，赤利却把那些豺给赶走了。赤利也受了很重的伤，召盘巴他抱着自己受伤的狗赶着牛回家了。

do well in my study, which, in teachers opinion, is what my classmates want to

do as well as me .On the other hand; I am not what I used to be, for I never did

sports in the past. But now, I like take exercise, which can make me healthy.

And my hobbies help me think about good things in my life .Seeing blue sky, I

feel it good to live on the earth! So, it is I who am a good girl in daily

life!

name is Edgar, a high school student. I am much honored to be here to give you a

speech. Also its a good chance for me to improve my English. I hope I can make

a good performance today. The topic of my speech is "After studying here".

Before I came here, I can never imagine that I can learn so much knowledge

about other countries, which cant be got from my books in school. Three months

ago, I took my first class. Unfortunately, I felt so embarrassed, because I even

cant speak any words, though I know I really love English.

After that, I took some of my tutors advice and previewed the lesson that

I’ll learn. What’s more, in every class, I JUST try my best to say as much as

possible. Now, I can only remember it’s a really hard time. What’s worse, I had

to go to my high school and went there at the same time.

After several weeks, I began to get used to the atmosphere in web .At least

Im not afraid to speak in front of my tutor and foreign teachers.

During web’s period, I found I had improved a lot, both physically and

mentally. For example, how to be a confident person, how to plan for my future.

And the most important is that I have learnt how to communicate with others,

which is a necessary skill. Nowadays studying is not the only thing that we high

school students should do, there are some more important things we have

ignored.

First, I am grateful for my parents. They have spent so much money for me,

but never ask for anything in return. I really know how hard it is to work on

such living conditions.

Now it’s time to introduce my tutor sally. It was she that led me to the

right studying here. It was she that helped me deal with all kinds of annoying

things. Also there are some other teachers that I appreciate, especially Laura

高尔基说过：“书籍是人类进步的阶梯。”我最喜欢的读的其中一本书是——《三国演义》，它是四大名著之一，书里讲了二百多个人物，他们有刘备、关羽、张飞、曹操、诸蔼亮等。此书内容主要讲了魏、蜀、吴三国之间发生的斗争。

从开始的“桃园三结义”这个故事，让我对刘备产生了敬佩之情，刘备对兄弟善良的情意深深地打动了我。同时刘备为了成就一番事业不怕苦不怕累，就以“三顾茅庐”来举例：刘备为了一统天下，只因缺少足智多谋的人才，这时，元直临走前将诸葛亮推荐给了刘备，经三次拜访才请到大名鼎鼎的诸葛亮出山来辅佐自己。刘备坚持不懈的精神值得我去学习。有一次上体育课，老师让我们测试四百米长跑，要求我们在一分三十秒内跑完，轮到我了，哨子一响，四个同学开始飞奔起来，一圈两圈………我双脚发软，呼吸急促喘不过气来，实在是跑不动了，眼看着只有一百米了，必须得把这短短的一百米跑完，这时我想起了刘备的坚持不懈，一鼓作气，冲了上去，啊，终于在规定时间跑完了。

人无完人，刘备有个缺点就是不够沉着冷静，当关羽和张飞二位兄弟遇害后，他十分恼怒，不听军师诸葛亮的劝告，点起所有兵将讨伐吴国，被陆逊之计所害，损失惨重！如果当时他能冷静一点也就不会造成后来失利的局势了。

还记得不久前数学老师让我们带一枚色子去学校，色子家里有，不用担心。当时妈妈在检查作业，我在一旁玩色子。突然，妈妈看到一个错误，让我来订正，错误订正后好收拾文具时却发现色子不见了，一下我变成了热锅里的蚂蚁——团团转……突然，我想到了刘备不冷静的下场，使我立马冷静了下来，开始仔细回忆细节慢慢找，还真的在书桌下的角落里找到了色子。

《三国演义》这本书给我最大的启示就是对朋友要真诚相待，对学习和生活要不怕吃苦不怕受累，遇到事情了要沉着冷静！

We are in the same school, but in different grades. My mother is a nurse. She works in a hospital. We live in Beijing now with my parents.

I often have bread and milk for breakfast. I like eating hamburgers, too. And for lunch, I usually have some chicken with vegetables and rice. Jiaozi is my favorite food. I usually have Jiaozi and an apple for dinner. I think I can eat healthily.

My mother cooks very well. She often cooks nice food for us.
