From the sixteenth of January to the seventh of February is our Winter Holiday. I think everybody did a lot of things in the Winter Holiday. But I didnt. Let you to listen to my story of Winter Holiday.

Every Chinese, who experienced 1980s, will remember forever the day November 6th 1981 when the China National Womens Volleyball Team defeated the Japan National Team (the so-called "Toyo Women Magic") with 3 to 2 at the 3rd World Womens Volleyball Cup in Osaka Japan. In China, Mid-autumn Day is considered to be a symbol of family reunion. On this day, all the family members gather together at home to celebrate this special occasion. Last year, I could not celebrate the festival with my family because I was in university. However, this special day left a deep impression on me.

I still remember the atmosphere of that evening. All the students who could not go back home assembled in our classroom, having a party to celebrate this traditional festival. We tried our best to show our own enthusiasm. As an ethnic minority, I performed a peacock dance, which received warm applause. After the two-hour party, we went out to the playground and sat together to appreciate the moon because it is a tradition on Mid-autumn Day. It was a sun day of the summer holiday. the weather was hot. my little brother and i decided to go to the resrvoir to swim by bike. it took us half an hour when we got there, many people were swimming. the we dived into the water……

About an hour later, suddenly somebody called: “help! help!” we were surprised to see a boy struggling in the deep water. as quickly as possible. we swam towards him and pulled him to the shore. he lost his consciousness. we sent him to the nearest hospital at once luckily, he was saved.

今天是军训的第八天了。大家似乎都已经进入了状态。习惯了这种忙碌而紧凑的生活，也感受到了这种快节奏的军训生活带来的充实感觉。

最明显的变化就是干什么事速度都比以前快很多，节省了很多的时间。每天我们都按照要求整理我们宿舍，每件东西都摆放得井井有条，每一个角落都是干干净净。我想以后即使不再军训，可良好的习惯一旦养成，我们就会一直坚持下去。

每天在军训训练场上的训练都是很辛苦的，特别是在炎炎烈日之下，人人脸上都不停地冒出大颗大颗的汗珠，感觉周围的空气仿佛都在燃烧，地面如此滚烫地烤着大家的脚板。偶尔，我们也会小声抱怨，心里也在叫苦不迭。但这些，并不能说明我们软弱。在恶劣的天气之下，我们，坚持住了。并且，学会了在苦中作乐。休息时，新同学们优美的歌声；操场上不断响起激昂的口号声。我们认识了更多朋友，更懂得如何去关爱帮助他人。

In other words, I must find time to study, too. So I divided my time between work and play during the summer vacation and derived much benefit from this arrangement.

I spent this summer vacation in quite a different way. I used to run about every day in previous summer vacations, but this summer vacation I simply could not afford to do so. I would soon be in the last year of my high-school education and would after graduation be up against the college entrance examinations. Though those examinations were still a year away, I had to start early to make myself well prepared by reviewing all those things I had learned at school and this summer vacation was the ideal time for me to do this. At first I was rather dismayed at the thought of this, but later I thought it was better this way because by working hard this summer I could count on endless happy summers to come. With this in mind I then set to work like anything and only occasionally went out for a change or did some physical. I was not at all bored by this kind of life, for I was sustained by a hope.

The summer vacation had come round again. I was happy that I could forget about school at least for a while. Lest I fool around all through this summer vacation, I made a plan as to how to spend it. First, I thought I should go over all those things my teachers taught in the previous term so that I could have a better understanding of them. Then I thought I should take up some forms of exercise, such as walking, running and rowing, to keep me physically strong. It stood to reason that with such a good plan I should make the best of my vacation time. I did, because I lived up to what I had planned.
