Like most of the gardens of Beijing, it could not elude the rampages of the Anglo-French allied force and was destroyed by fire. In 1888, Empress Dowager Cixi embezzled navy funds to reconstruct it for her own benefit, changing its name to Summer Palace (Yiheyuan). She spent most of her later years there, dealing with state affairs and entertaining. In 1900, it suffered again, being ransacked by the Eight-Power Allied Force. After the success of the 1911 Revolution, it was opened to the public.

Composed mainly of Longevity Hill and Kunming Lake, The Summer Palace occupies an area of 294 hectares (726.5 acres), three quarters of which is water. 春悄然而至，家乡的榕树舒展着翠绿的枝条，在微风中，在阳光中，摇摆着嫩叶。转眼间，秋天到了，榕树依然笔直地挺立着，呼呼呼……寒风起，冬爷爷不知不觉地来到，无论他怎么吹打榕树，榕树都毅然地挺了过去。榕树在任何时候都能克服困难，坚强不屈。榕树不仅不怕风吹雨打，而且生命力极强。

榕树还具有无私奉献的精神。

在炎热的夏至之夜，天气很闷，大家坐在榕树下乘凉，榕树张开手臂为人们扇风，构成了幅美丽的风景画。

要说到清香扑鼻的树，可要数玉兰了，每天每时每刻，玉兰树都在茁壮成长。从种子到发芽，从发芽到成树。这一阶段中，它被人折断枝条，遭人破坏，但它还是不屈不挠地从艰难站起来!

每逢夏至，当然也不能少了温州的特产――杨梅。

杨梅树在夏天里开花结果。杨梅像一颗颗闪闪发光的玛瑙。它外面还生着小刺，咬一口，汁水在嘴里回味无穷。杨梅产于浙南一带，北方人根本不知道杨梅是什么东西，所以，我们把甘甜可口的杨梅树运往北方，大量售出，为温州的经济发展做出贡献。

啊，我爱家乡，更爱家乡的树，它们给家乡带来了喜悦、清香、繁荣昌盛。
