典源出处《史记·李将军列传》： 李广居蓝田南山中射猎，“广出猎，见草中石，以为虎而射之，中石没镞，视之石也。因复更射之，终不能复入石矣。”《汉书·李广传》亦载此事，作“中石没矢”。另《韩诗外传》卷六第二十四章：“昔者楚熊渠子夜行，见寝石以为伏虎，弯弓而射之，没金饮羽，下视知其石也，因复射之，矢跃无迹。”此二事相类。

释义用法李广等以石为虎，劲射竟把箭射入石中，而当知道是石头后，再射就射不进去了。后多用此典形容勇武过人，射艺精湛; 也用来形容用心精诚、气概豪迈。

有两则关于同一条英语谚语Blood is thicker than water的译例。其一是“清水不浓血却浓”，其二是“血浓于水”。从字面上看，上述两则译例译得固然不错，似无可厚非。译文读起来很顺，又比较易懂，但读后似有不知所云之感。

这是因为译文的形象没能准确地传达出这条谚语的喻义来。

Longman Dictionary of English Idioms（p.28）上对这条谚语的解释是“The relationship between people of the same family is stronger than other，relationships”因此，这则谚语似可以借用汉语中一句俗语“亲不亲一家人”来译更能表达出“属于同一血缘关系的一家人比别人更亲近一些”的寓意。

语言是文化的表现形式。谚语同文学作品、诗歌一样是语言的精华。英语谚语是富于色彩的语言形式，一般具有生动形象、喻义明显、富于哲理的语言特征。在一定程度上，英语谚语反映了英语民族的文化特点。因此，翻译英语谚语时，仅仅以语言之间词汇的同义性（等价性）为前提，寻求对等的表现是不够的。译者须较多运用汉语的表现手段，力求能再现英语谚语的语言风格和丰富内涵。只有多注意英语谚语字面以外所特有的语言内涵色彩，才能使译文讽喻得当，宜于说理，又不失原来谚语所具有的语言形象。

某些英语谚语和汉语成语、俗语在表现形式和含义方面是一致的或基本一致的。汉译这些英语时，可惜用与其喻义相同或相近的成语或谚语及俗语直接对译。这样不但可以比较好地保持原文的神韵和形式，又使译文易于为读者或听者接受。如：

Pride comes before a fall．骄兵必败。

Amiss is as good as a mile.差之毫厘，失之千里。

Two is company，but three is none.两个和尚抬水吃，三个和尚无水吃。

Walls have ear.隔墙有耳。

Enough is as good as a feast．知足常乐。

有些英语谚语虽然在语言习惯和文化背景方面和其相对的汉语谚语之间存在着某些差异，而且所比喻的事物并不一样，但他们的喻义却相互吻合，而且表达方式也很相似，汉译这些英语谚语时，常常需要“易其形式，存其精神”，即采用形象近似的汉语成语意译。这样可使译文既喻义明显，又含而不露，且可再现原文所具有的语言效果，容易达意。如：

Two can play the game.孤掌难鸣。

Newbroom sweeps clean.新官上任三把火。

Speak of the devil，and he appears.说曹操，曹操到。

The grass is greener on the other side of the hill．这山望着那山高。

Putting the cart before the horse.本末倒置。

有些英语谚语意在言外，语言含蓄，寓意深刻。如果仅从字面意义直译成汉语，而不领会原文的具体含义及其效果，译文势必平淡无味。这样既不能表达意思，又有损于原文的语言形象和丰富内涵。因此，在翻译时，应在汉语中寻找那些与原文喻义相同或效果相似的成语、谚语或俗语来表达，则会使译文形象生动，准确达意。试比较下列各译例。

People who live in glass houses should not throw stones.如译成“住在玻璃房子里的人，不应扔石头”不如译成“己有过，勿正人”或“责人必先责己”。

In fair weather prepare for the foul．如译成“晴天要防阴天”，不如译成“有备无患”或“居安思危”或“未雨绸缪”。

Murder will out．如译成“谋杀终必败露”，不如译成“纸包不住火”。

Fools rush in where angels fear to tread．如译成“愚者敢闯天使不敢去的地方”，不如译成“初生牛犊不怕虎”。

One cannot make an omelette without breaking eggs.如译成“想吃煎蛋卷，就得打鸡蛋”，不如译成工“有得必有失”或甚至可以引申为“不破不立”。

如果所要翻译的谚语喻义清新，形象逼真，按其字面直译其意，就能表达出原文的喻义来，则可直译。这样做既能较完整地保存原文的表达方式，且又可丰富我们自己的语言文化，一举两得，请看下面的译例。

张良不愿离开刘邦，却把项伯带来的消息告诉了刘邦。刘邦请张良陪同，会见项伯，再三辩白自己没有反对项羽的意思，请项伯帮忙在项羽面前说句好话。

项伯答应了，并且叮嘱刘邦亲自到项羽那边去赔礼。

第二天一清早，刘邦带着张良、樊哙和一百多个随从，到了鸿门拜见项羽。刘邦说：我跟将军同心协力攻打秦国，将军在河北，我在河南。我自己也没有想到能够先进了关。今天在这儿和将军相见，真是件令人高兴的事。哪儿知道有人在您面前挑拨，叫您生了气，这实在太不幸了。

项羽见刘邦低声下气向他说话，满肚子气都消了。他老老实实地说：这都是你的部下曹无伤来说的。要不然，我也不会这样。

当天，项羽就留刘邦在军营喝酒，还请范增、项伯、张良作陪。

酒席上，范增一再向项羽使眼色，并且举起他身上佩带的玉玦(音ju，古代一种佩带用的玉器)，要项羽下决心，趁机把刘邦杀掉。可是项羽只当没看见。

范增看项羽不忍心下手，就借个因由走出营门，找到项羽的堂兄弟项庄说：咱们大王(指项羽)心肠太软，你进去给他们敬酒，瞧个方便，把刘邦杀了算了。

项庄进去敬了酒，说：军营里没有什么娱乐，请让我舞剑助助兴吧。说着，就拔出剑舞起来，舞着舞着，慢慢舞到刘邦面前来了。

项伯看出项庄舞剑的用意是想杀刘邦，说：咱们两人来对舞吧。说着，也拔剑起舞。他一面舞剑，一面老把身子护住刘邦，使项庄刺不到刘邦。

张良一看形势十分紧张，也向项羽告个便儿，离开酒席，走到营门外找樊哙。樊哙连忙上前问：怎么样了?

张良说：情况十分危急，现在项庄正在舞剑，看来他们要对沛公下手了。

樊哙跳了起来说：要死死在一起。他右手提着剑，左手抱着盾牌，直往军门冲去。卫士们想拦住他。樊哙拿盾牌一顶，就把卫士撞倒在地上。他拉开帐幕，闯了进去，气呼呼地望着项羽，头发像要往上直竖起来，眼睛瞪得大大的，连眼角都要裂开了。

项羽十分吃惊，按着剑问：这是什么人，到这儿干么?

张良已经跟了进来，替他回答说：这是替沛公驾车的樊哙。

项羽说：好一个壮士!接着，就吩咐侍从的兵士赏他一杯酒，一只猪腿。

樊哙一边喝酒，一边气愤地说：当初，怀王跟将士们约定，谁先进关，谁就封王。现在沛公进了关，可并没有做王。他封了库房，关了宫室，把军队驻在灞上，天天等将军来。像这样劳苦功高，没受到什么赏赐，将军反倒想杀害他。这是在走秦王的老路呀，我倒替将军担心哩。

项羽听了，没话可以回答，只说：坐吧。樊哙就挨着张良身边坐下了。

过了一会，刘邦起来上厕所，张良和樊哙也跟了出来。刘邦留下一些礼物，交给张良，要张良向项羽告别，自己带着樊哙从小道跑回灞上去了。

刘邦走了好一会，张良才进去向项羽说：沛公酒量小，刚才喝醉了酒先回去了。叫我奉上白璧一双，献给将军;玉斗一对，送给亚父(亚父原是项羽对范增的尊称)。

项羽接过白璧，放在座席上。范增却非常生气，把玉斗摔在地上，拔出剑来，砸得粉碎，说：唉!真是没用的小子，没法替他出主意。将来夺取天下的，一定是刘邦，我们等着做俘虏就是了。

一场剑拔弩张的宴会，终算暂时缓和了下来。

topic is that“No imagination no invention”.As we know, imagination is the power

of invention,many inventions just begin with the sparking of imagination.

There is no doubt that if you could not imagine so many good inventions

would not arise. Lenin said: Imagination is extremely valuable

qualities.Imagine, if not, the world will be how to, perhaps can only be a

gray.Have imagination is the root cause of human stronger than other animals.No

imagination of human development and progress will not have any.Einsteins

theory of relativity can find because of his childlike imagination. Jobs created

Apple, but also from his simply idea and refined imagination.

But, nowadays, people gradually lose their imagination, or the imagination

of people have been killed.Under the exam-oriented education，only the standard

answer is correct, the deviated answer is wrong.This causes scores become the

dominant factor,so student had to give up their imagination,began to rote

memorization.To realize Chinas dream and the national rejuvenation, can without

imagination?

If people stopped fantasy, then this is a real sign of the decline of

humanity. Imagination is the basis for the creation of the invention. With bold

Imagination, science was evolving, with rich imagination, before the era of

constantly advancing. We should protect childrens imagination and develop their

creativity. China may create a dream realized.

尊敬的评委们，亲爱的同学们，下午好!

很荣幸有这样一个机会在这里演讲，今天我演讲的题目是:“No imagination no

invention”。众所周知，想象力是发明创造的动力，许多发明都是由想象的闪现开始的。

毫无疑问的说，如果没有想象，如此多优秀的发明就没有出现的可能。列宁说过：想象是极其可贵的品质，设想一下，如果没有想象，世界将会怎样，也许只会是一片灰色。拥有想象力是人类强于其他动物的根本原因。没有想象力的人类将不会有任何的发展与进步。爱因斯坦之所能发现相对论，就是因为他的童真的想象力。乔布斯创造了苹果，也来源于他的简约理念和脱俗的想象力。

但是，现如今，人们渐渐失去了想象力，或者说人们的想象力在不断被扼杀，应试教育下，只有标准答案才是正确的，偏离答案就是错的，这使分数成了主导因素，学生不得不放弃自己的想象，开始死记硬背，试问要想实现中国梦和实现民族复兴，没有想象力行么?

如果人们停止了幻想，那么这就是人类衰落的真正征兆。想象力是创造发明的基础。有了大胆的创想，科学才不断发展，有了丰富的想象，时代才不断前进。我们应该保护孩子们的想象力，发挥他们的创造性。为中国梦的实现创造可能。
