随着时代的进步与社会的发展，英语学习的重要性已是不言而喻。对于众多望子成龙、望女成凤的父母们，幼儿英语学习是他们子女教育历程中的第一课。研究表明，发展的关键期是在6岁以前。这一时期，如果对幼儿进行良好的语言教育，给予丰富、适量的信息刺激儿童的语言功能就能得到比较充分的发展，使其一生受益。相反如果错过语言萌发增长的关键时期，再多量的刺激也难以达到充分发展的水平。

根据有关言语神经生理机制的研究，认为4～10岁是开始学习外语的最佳年龄。因为在年龄幼小时，左脑引起的失语症，可以靠右脑机能来弥补，年龄大些后，左脑损伤引起的失语症就无法补救，这说明，儿童时期的大脑机能有较大的可塑性。所以，这一时期幼儿是有能力学习外语的。儿童从6岁起，其辨音能力、认知能力、语调和语音大体上已开始退化。日本著名幼儿教育专家也认为0～6岁是语言发展的最佳时期，处于这一时期的幼儿有形成两个以上言语中枢的可能性。若在最佳时期只接受母语的刺激，那么，母语中枢以外的言语中枢就逐渐退化。儿童进入学龄后，母语中枢已形成一整套固定的控制模式，这时再学习第二种语言，母语中枢就很难接受。因此，如果我们能抓住幼儿期对幼儿进行第二语言的教育，其潜力和发展是无限的。

而且，幼儿英语学习还有利于儿童各方面的均衡发展。因为幼儿英语学习是一种积极的智力活动，对幼儿的语言、认知发展，无疑起到促进作用。在幼儿英语的学习中，教师通过设计各种各样的教育活动，让幼儿在轻松自然的氛围中积极愉快地学习口语，形成初步的语感，激发幼儿学习的兴趣和好奇心，为幼儿进入小学、初中认读阶段的学习打下良好的基础。同时在英语的学习中还能培养幼儿的语言表达能力与交往能力。另外，幼儿英语的学习不单纯是语言知识的获得，作为启蒙教育，他还有利于幼儿各种基本能力和良好个性、习惯的培养。通过英语的学习，可以在增长幼儿知识、开阔幼儿视野的同时，促进其个性的全面发展，因此，实施幼儿英语教育不但可以，而且还有利于幼儿各方面的发展。

那么，作为父母应如何对自己的孩子进行成功的英语教育呢？

首先，最重要的是为自己的孩子选择一个英语氛围良好的。只有让孩子在一个轻松自然的自然英语环境中生活成长，在潜移默化中接受学习熏陶，才能够真正的学习好英语。其次，要为孩子学习英语创造良好的家庭氛围。因为对于适龄儿童来说，除了学校生活外，占比重最大的就是家庭生活了。有条件的家庭，应当尽可能的将英语中的一些日常用语融入日常生活中，这样既可以起到辅助幼儿英语教学的作用，又可以使孩子产生对英语学习的兴趣，使英语更融入生活，更容易被其接受。
