The First Day in High School

Today was the first day of my new life. I looked at my new books and checked everything for the new school year. I was excited as well as worried.

"Yes it is, " Michael said. "Life is all about choices. When you cut away

all the junk, every situation is a choice. You choose how you react to

situations. You choose how people will affect your mood. You choose to be in a

good mood or bad mood. The bottom line is: It’s your choice how you live life. "

I reflected on what Michael said.

Soon thereafter, I left the big enterprise that I had worked in for years

to start my own business. We lost touch, but I often though about him when I

made a choice about life instead of reacting to it. Several years later, I heard

Michael was involved in a serious accident, falling off 60 feet from a

communications tower.

After l8 hours of surgery, and weeks of intensive care, Michael was

released from the hospital with rods placed in his back. I saw Michael about six

months after the accident. When I asked him how he was, he replied, "If I were

any better, I’d be twins. Wanna see my scars?" I declined to see his wounds, but

did ask him what had gone through his mind as the accident took place.

"The first thing that went through my mind was the well being of my

soon-to-born daughter," Michael replied. "Then, as I lay on the ground,

remembered I had two choices: I could choose to live or I could choose to die. I

chose to live." "Weren’t you scared? Did you lose consciousness?" I asked.

Michael continued, "... the paramedics were great. They kept telling me I was

going to be fine. But when they wheeled me into the operation room and I saw the

expressions on the faces of the doctors and nurses, I got really scared. In

their eyes, l read ’He’s a dead man.’ I knew I needed to take action." "What did

you do?" I asked. "Well, there was a big burly nurse shouting questions at me”

Michael lived, thanks to the skill of his doctors, but also because of his

amazing attitude. I Learned from him that every day we have a choice to live

fully. Attitude is everything.

小时候的我有一双说不出的大眼睛，自从三年级的我，黑板上的字迹对我来说模糊的不得了。我只能眯缝着眼，这样会清楚一些。我小时候看来，近视是一件好事情。因为那些有学问的人大多都戴眼镜，所以我就觉得戴眼镜说明了这人十分有学问，非常的光荣。

后来我就把事情告诉了妈妈，到医学院配了我第一副眼镜。记得那副眼镜是蓝色的，镜框上还有小熊，那样式让我迫不及待地戴在了自己的鼻架上。楚戴眼睛总觉得自己的鼻子怪难受的，而眼睛上的那两个在鼻子上的支撑点也让我的鼻子累的“腰酸背疼”。好像我当时两只眼睛都是175度吧。

自从戴上了眼睛我可高兴死了。我利用它，黑板上的一笔一划我都了如指掌，一边看着黑板上的字一边写着课堂纪律，不是推推眼镜就是擦一下眼镜，我几乎都快把自己当成一位小博士了！

有时候戴眼镜也是不好的，他也是我苦恼的根源。它在我鼻子上，上下摆动，有时像蝴蝶翻飞，婆娑起舞；有时似悬崖落石，一下子从鼻梁滑到鼻尖儿。有时东躲西藏，在哪都不知道。但我还是和它共同进退。我如果没有它，可就遭殃了，我就会视力下降，看不清黑板上的一切。我还真的离不开它。

随着年纪的增加，年级的增高。我的眼睛也越来越近视，那一双眼镜早已模糊不清了，只好又去配了一副。这次我的近视度居然一只275度，一只267度。几乎是以前的两倍啊！那双蓝色的眼睛也“退了休”，而那副新的眼镜也代替了“老干部”，而年轻的眼镜又在我的鼻子上抬头挺胸，气质昂昂的又为我的眼睛工作。

其实我觉得我的眼镜特别的“坚强”因为我的眼镜不是掉地就是被同学磕磕碰碰的，可是就是没有一点儿“受伤”的迹象。看来眼镜为了我还有“自我保护”功能呢！呵呵！

说来说去，对于我来说我最亲密的朋友是非这眼镜莫属了，只有它默默地为我奉献它的“青春”直到“老得不行的时候”因为只有它才是我最亲密的朋友——我最亲爱的眼镜兄弟！

“司机开车怎么这么慢啊！我赶时间！”坐在后面的人不时发出的抱怨让车厢变得越来越烦躁。“嫌慢，干吗不搭计程车呢？”我心想，上班高峰期都是如此，怪不得司机好不容易才挤上车，车上的人眼看司机要靠站了，便又开始抱怨车上人太多，希望司机不要再开车门了。人啊，总是这样，等车的人巴不得车不要走，挤上一个是一个；车上的人巴不得车子不要停，一直开到目的地。

公交车极不情愿地靠站了，下车的人不少，“沙丁鱼”们不用那么局促不安了。这时，我看到一位老婆婆从远处赶来，车马上就要开了，老婆婆从后门上了车。这是不对的，我心想。司机马上大声地喊：“下车去！不能从后门上车！”那位老婆婆，花白了齐耳的短发，衣着朴素，手里拿着乘车优惠的老人证。她听了司机的话，便怏怏地下车去，急急忙忙地向前门走去。司机似乎突然想起有什么要紧的事要做，就在老婆婆下车的瞬间把前后门都关上，一溜烟地把车开走了。我看到那位老婆婆手里举着老人证，茫然地站在她刚刚下车的地方，望着汽车开走。我的心像刚是被什么东西抽打了一下。

我也时常和朋友在一起喝酒，但我不胜酒力，喝酒给我的感触是：在酒桌上，一开始大家都很文明的喝酒让菜，说话的声音很正常，每个人都要说上几句话助兴。一圈下来，三杯五盏酒水下肚，即见反应，再看说话声音也提高了，称兄道弟推杯换盏，一杯接一杯的不断敬酒。我环顾一下各位朋友，有的脸红如关公、有的脸发黄、眼睛半睜不睁、像要睡去、有的朋友喝得正高兴。每次喝酒结束的时候，都会有朋友因贪杯而喝醉，走路深一脚浅一脚的，说话语无伦次，看他们的样子和听他说的话，真让你哭笑不得。

某君和几个朋友出了酒店门，各个是东摇西晃，走路都画龙了，还都说自己再喝半斤也没事，吵着要去歌厅一展歌喉。他们相继到来歌厅，又是一次豪饮，争先恐后的放声高歌，那简直就不是优美的歌声了，简直是难以忍受的强大的噪音。他们折腾累了已经是午夜两点了，某君在歌厅里又喝了不少酒，已经有些神志不清了，他摇摇晃晃的往家走，朋友说：“大哥我送你回去吧”他说：“我没事，我自己能回去的，不用送”就这样，朋友们都各自回家了。

某君走着走着，辨不清是什么地方了，他还觉得自己在酒店附近，他想回家可是怎么也找不到家的方向了，于是他掏出手机给老婆打电话，他眯缝着眼睛找了半天才找到老婆的电话号码：“老婆，我喝多了，找不到家了，你来接我啊”“死鬼，都几点了，怎么喝到这个时候啊，我以为你死到外面了，你在哪啊?”“我在某饭店门口等你，快点啊。”

打完电话，双手插兜哼着小曲正摇晃着，只听扑通一声，掉进了河沟里，那已是秋天的季节，水温有点凉，浑身湿透的他，一下有些清醒了，他使劲睁开眼睛拼命往上爬，还好河沟不深，他使出浑身的力爬出了河沟，用手扑落下身上的水，辨别一下回家的方向，踉踉跄跄的往家走去。他使劲的按门铃，没有人给他开，他嘴里嘟囔着“老婆去哪里了，怎么不在家啊?”他从裤袋里掏出门钥匙，打开门上楼在开防盗锁进屋，他才清醒了许多，他想起了老婆是出去找他了，他想起裤袋里还有两千元现金，他一摸还在，没丢!夹克衫可是没有了，他想衣服丢就丢吧，钱没丢就行，他乐了还哼着小曲把湿衣服脱个精光，仍在水池里。等她老婆开门看到他时，他正光着身子数钱呢。

“酒入胃肠，血水交融，通经走脉，上达天灵，下抵足会，每一个毛孔都为之熏陶浸染。渗入血液，化学作用，可以使人飘飘然。凡一般酒量之人，或停杯阻劝，或酌量而饮，进而不顾者，必是嗜酒之人，千杯买醉，只求痛快。这倒是：竖着进来，横着出去，一两二两不是酒，三两四两漱漱口……七两八两扶墙走，九两十两墙走人不走……”

The generation gap is unavoidable in almost every family, which brings

about a number of conflicts in a family. In my opinion, to limit the bad effects

of the generation gap, each family should use the following three methods:

First of all, it is important that family members discuss openly about

their pleasures or sadness in childhood in family gatherings. This activity does

not only create a close relationship but also help build up understanding among

all members. For instance, once children are aware that their grandparents and

even their parents did not have a good upbringing during their hard childhood,

they will stop complaining about the previous generations’ obsoleteness. In the

meantime, once old people realize young people are nurtured in a new modern way,

it is easy for them to be tolerant of young people’s new habits or hobbies.

Secondly, people of each generation should not develop a very high feeling

about themselves. In order to do that, they should not think that they are the

only right people in their family because each person has his or her own

limitations. Teenagers would realize that their parents have to struggle with

pain to support them financially, and they would stop rebelling their

strictness. Parents would realize that their children’s new style does no harm

to their studies and stop imposing their own unsuitable standards on their

children.

Finally, the generation gap and its bad effects can be limited if all

members cooperate to build up a close-knit family relationship and a harmonious

atmosphere in which they are open and tolerant of each other. I strongly believe

that each family, by doing that, can enjoy a cozy atmosphere with minimum

interference by the generation gap.

As we all know, pollution is harmful to living beings. There are many different types of pollutions in this world. For instance, water pollution, air pollution, noise pollution and so on. Water pollution cause many kinds of disease that have negative effects on human beings, sometimes the diseases will take people’s life away. Dirty air will increase the rate of getting lung cancer. While the noise pollution will cause insomnia. People’s health condition will be damaged.

In my humble opinion, people should take measures to control the pollution. Recently, not only the government, but also individual has taken part in the action of protecting the environment. This is a good sign. Rivers are being cleaned, air is purified, and the people come to realize that the importance of protecting the environment.

However, this is not enough, the problems are still exist. Not all of them have been solved. Some factories are still pouring dirty water into the rivers or give off the toxic gas into the sky. We should know that protecting the environment needs everybody’s effort.
