how time flies! it is ahnost a month since i arrived here and began a new

life as a university student. but all this time, i have been missing you and my

dear school. i just can not tell you how grateful i am to you for the help you

gave me during my preparation for the university entrance examination. now i

will tell you something about my university and life here.

our university lies at the foot of mount zijin, in the eastern suburbs of

nanjing city. the campus is very big,with a big sportsground surrounded by lots

of modern classroom buildings. what have impressed me most are the big library

and the well-equipped language lab. our campus is also very beautiful. there are

quite a few well-kept gardens. every road is lined with trees. how happy we are

to study in such an enviromnent!

life here is both busy and coloufful. we have classes every morning. in the

afternoon, we either work in the laboratory or do assignments in the classroom.

in the evening, we can go to talks or do reading in the library. this keeps us

occupied most of the week. but on weekends, there are always many

entertainments. we may go to the club to have a dance or go to the cinema to see

a fihn. sometimes we may also hold a party to practise oral english. in a word,

we like our life here very much.

I went to the supermarket the other day with 10 yuan. I was a bit hungry,

so I decided to buy a small pack of cookies which cost me 4 yuan. After I ate

them, I was still hungry, so I decided to buy a small bag of potato chips which

我今年4月份的时候参观了著名的南京大屠杀馆，参观完后，所有华丽的辞藻在残酷的现实面前是那么的苍白无力，一堆堆的尸体，一张张绝望的脸，在我的眼前浮现，日本人站在我们无数充满苦难的同胞面前，没有怜悯，没有恻隐，疯狂的展露着他们泯灭的人性。强奸妇女、虐杀儿童，那么多无辜的群众站在他们面前就这样被杀害，那么多悲惨的案例就这样在我眼前挥之不去的晃悠着，我沉重的什么都说不出来。

回首今日，我们现在很多的年轻人都淡忘漠视了这段历史，作为一名学文史的90后，说实话很惭愧，不用说对整个抗日战争的了解知多少，缩小到山西的抗战也所知甚微。也许是机缘巧合，也许是冥冥注定，我来到了现在的单位—山西省信林公益基金会，开始接触抗战，接触到众多像您一样亲身经历抗战的老兵，这一个多月的常规及生日慰问，坐在你们身边，亲耳聆听着你们的抗战经历，似乎我也正置身其中，那一刻，我也才真正的了解到战争的残酷和现在幸福生活的来之不易，也终于明白“民族脊梁”这个称呼的重量，所以我特别感谢基金会这个平台，给了我认识您乃至更多的抗战老兵，给了我在工作中依然可以快乐学习的机会，现在我感觉这不只是工作，这代表着一颗懂得感恩的心。

爷爷，您还记得我去看您，您写的那段话吗?

Last Sunday my classmates and I went to Xiangshan Park.

We met at 7 oclock at the school gate. The weather in Beijing that day was

great. At around 8 oclock, we arrived at Xiangshan Park. There is a high tree

on the bottom of the hill. We had a party and played games under the tree. Then

we climbed to the top of Xiangshan Mountain. It was not very difficult for us to

do it. Next, we had lunch at the top of the hill. It was delicious. After lunch,

"What a beautiful city!" I said. At that moment, we all felt so proud. I live in
