在去年的暑假里，我看了这样的一本书——《老人与海》。

今日我们学了《老人与海鸥》这篇课文，讲的是一个老人每一天都步行二十里来到翠湖给海鸥送餐，还给海鸥起了名字，每一天都和海鸥亲切地说话，每当太阳落山时老人的所料袋空了，老人就离开，他第二天还会来。可是没想到老人去世了，他们把老人照片遗容放大，摆到了翠湖边，海鸥们竟然极速煽动翅膀在天上盘旋高飞，过了一会儿，海鸥竟然在老人的遗像前站成两行，他们站在那肃立不动，像是为老人守灵的白衣天使，当他们不得不收起遗像的时候，海鸥们像是炸了营似的朝遗像飞来，他们好不容易从飞动着的白色漩涡中脱身。在为老人举行的葬礼上，老人背着那个蓝布包，撅着嘴，好像在呼唤着海鸥们。

善良的老人，纯洁的海鸥。我十分佩服老人来回二十里路给海鸥喂食，也佩服他们的深情友谊，海鸥竟然能听懂老人说话。同时，老人对海鸥那无私的爱感动着我，海鸥对老人的那份情震撼着我。

One time hospital hold a party to collect contributions. Then at the party ,she met Rhett buther, the man who loves her at first sight. Hopefully she wanted her parent’s help. But to her surprise, her mum had died and her father was out of normal. Situation have became more difficult. While Melanie was going to give birth to a baby. Scarlet made her mind on taking on the task. In order to keep living ,Scarlett even went to work on farm ,she planted cotton. Melanie was in poor health, but she still went to help Scarlett to do farm work. She believed Scalett and gave her unselfish love. With Menlanie’s love,Scarlett supported her home,but at this time ,she still didn’t realize how important Melanie for her. In order to solve the problem of the Tara plantation,she married to Frank. In order to make a living she also did business which was unbelievable for women in this time. She struggled with countless difficulties, but she never gave up. Another girl that I loved in this book is Melanie,she was very kind and gentle. She never doubted the relationship between Scarlett and Ashley, she always standed in the side of Scarlett. Melanie loved her husband ,when her husband was fighting in the war, she always waited for him. These three main characters in the book are all very obvious, but different. They gave me a impression. Scarlett was a plain girl, but what she did was not plain. She didn’t stay silent during the war, she changed her own life by strugling. In fact, many people lost what they have like Scarlett,but they all gave up to strive for the happiness that essentially belonged to them. Scarlett have the braveness to change the situation. But the pity was that she didn’t recognize the real love belong her in time. If she could got deep understanding of Ashley, she may not love him. If she could open her heart to Rhett and understand him, she may realized her love to Rhett. Sometimes I couldn’t help thinking that why the author can write this moved story. Maybe she have the similar experiences.

After reading this book I was shocked and moved by the little boy in the story. The writer let me feel the braveness and kindness in the book.

First, I want to introduce the writer to you. The writer is Maksim Gorky (18681936) He is the former Soviet Union proletarian writer, the founder of socialist realism literature. He was poor, his father died when he was 11-year-old .He and working people shared their fate, and personal experience of capitalist. Gorky is not only a great writer, but also an outstanding community activist. He had set up the Soviet Writers Association, and presided over a congress of the Soviet Union .Gorkys works began to be introduced to China since 1907. His outstanding literary works and books bands in the world-off Class common wealth.

There are four main characters in the story. They are Alexis, his mother Varia, his grandfather and his grandmother. They are totally different.

His mother is a poor but kind woman. Her little son died when he was born. Her husband was died too. Then she married with another man ,but the man always maltreats her.

His grandmother was also a kind woman. She brought up Alexis and gave courage and kindness to Alexis. But unfortunately, his husband always hit her and she died because of illness at last.

His grandfather was a stingy and fierce man. He always maltreats his wife and Alexis. He just loved his money.

The protagonist of this novel was a boy named Alexis. His father died when he was only 3 years old. He followed his mother and came to her motherhome. His grandfather is a violent man. His two uncles are also selfish. His grandfather often hit his wife and his grandson. Little Alexis was maltreated in the family and grew up gradually. However, his grandmother is a kind woman. She is the warm sun of Alexis, she tried her best to protect Alexis. His two uncles wants to get his fathermoney and always fight with their father. The old couple were very disappointed with their son. Finally, the old man decided to separate with them. He sold the old house and bought another home in the city. At that time , his mother came home and married with another man and had a little boy. His stepfather often maltreats his wife and disappeared some days later. He grandfather wanted to earn more money and sold the house. He lent the money to others in order to get more interest and rented a small room to live. He got more and more stingy and did not give any money to his wife. Alexis and his grandmother have to make money by themselves. After some days, his mother got ill and his grandmother was also unhealthy. Unfortunately, his mother died at last. He lost his dear mother. His grandfather did not want to bring him up and let him get out of the home to live in the society by himself. Then he left the home, it also means that his childhood was over.

Personal understanding:

After reading this novel, I can not calm down for a long time. He was so young and lives in such a cold family. He almost never gets the love form his parents. In fact ,the writer wanted to express himself through Alexis. Alexis was like himself. Gorky expressed his childhood through Alexis. This book makes me realize these ugly people at that time. If we with compare our childhood with Gorkys, we would think his childhood is too pathetic.

I want to express my feeling to Alexis. He was young and he did not receive good education. He lived with the fights and quarrels of his families. He was unlucky but he still knew how to be a good person. We are so lucky to live in a warm family. But most of us are not satisfied with it and we want more. We do not know how to cherish the things we have. We often ask for everything from our parents and depend them too much. If someone bully us outside, our parents will encourage us, but for Alexis, nobody will help him and his grandfather even maltreats him. What a poor boy he is. Now, we should realize that we should depend on ourselves and cherish our families. Facing the difficulties by ourselves and try to be confident to life. There must be something that make us despairing, however we should learn form the author and look for the happiness from the pain and look for the hope from the despair. Try to be a kind and optimistic person, never lose confidence. Our future will be bright.

The next aspect in the novel is the old man, the grandfather of Alexis. What a selfish man he is. Alexis was his grandson, he did not care about him but maltreat him. His wife born three children for him but he did not love her at all. He just love his money. His character represented many people at that time. And the author wanted to satirize these people by this character. He was an important character in this novel and an important person for Alexis. But he did not be responsible for Alexis. Alexis was so unlucky to have such a bad grandfather. And his grandmother was so unlucky to have such a violent husband.

The most kind and pitiful person was Alexisgrandmother. She was the most attractive woman in the literal history of Russia. She did not live a happy day in her whole life. She was so industrious and simple, maybe she just want a simple life. She just want her children could be happy and her husband could love her even did not maltreat her. But her simple dream did not come true. It was unfair for such a kind woman. She lived an unhappy life everyday, but she still love her grandson. She represented these industrious woman at that time. She gave her love to Alexis and hold the broken family. She was so tried everyday with the housework and the maltreatment. I sympathize her very much. She was moved by those money earned by Alexis and Alexis was the hope to her. They encouraged each other to live a bright life.

After reading this book, I think the most important thing is to be strong. Gorky was strong enough to grow up in such a bad environment and became an excellent writer. The society is developing fast but the people are becoming fragile. We must experience some difficulties in our life. After reading the last page , Alexiss childhood was over , there is a different life waiting for him.

this year summer vacation, i read the american well-known writer hemingways novel " old person and sea ". i extremely admire in the novel the senior fishermans will, he let me understand one person certainly must have relentless spirit, only then could obtain successfully.

the novel description is one year near sixty years of age senior fisherman, when alone goes to sea in one fishing, fished one big fish, actually did not pull. the senior fisherman socialized several days after the fish, only then discovered this was the big marlin which one surpassed the oneself fishing boat several fold, although knew perfectly well very difficult to win, but still did not give up. afterwards and further because in the big marlin wound fish fishy smell brought in several crowds of shark fish snatches the food, but the old person still did not hope like this to give up, finally highlighted encircles tightly, returned to the big fish belt the fishing port, lets other fishermen not admire already.

when i read " the senior fisherman think: here to the seacoast really was too near, perhaps could have a bigger fish in a farther place... when i read " the big marlin start fast to gather round the young fishing boat hover, twined the cable on the mast , the old person right hand lifted up high the steel fork, leapt the water surface in it the flash, did utmost throws to its heart, one wail ended the big fishs life, it was static static floats on the water surface... " when, my heart also liked together the big stone falls. i extremely admire old person that kind do not dread, the relentless spirit, although knows the match strength is very strong, but he not slightly flinches, but is welcomes difficultly above. just because had this kind of spirit, the senior fisherman only then achieved this life and death contest success. we also must study senior fishermans spirit in life, handles the matter does not fear the difficulty, only then can obtain successfully.

filetype after reading the little prince over the course of this semester,i read a moving book:the little prince.it impressed me a lot,especially,the pure but deep emotion(love) between the characters such as the pilot and the little prince,the rose and the little prince,the fox and the little prince.the book remind me of the pure and nice emotion only found in childhood. what impresses me the most is the fox’s words.love is a strange stuff.sometimes we see it but can’t grasp it.yet, true love may be, to some extent, invisible in surface but may last permanent.apart from love, others as well.indeed,sometimes what we consider right turn out to be wrong,what we consider real proves fictitious,what we confused may just turn out to be the truth.the path in searching for truth may long and time-consuming,we should harbour conviction,strong will and high hope.no matter what barriade in front of us,we ought to be couragous and face up to the challenge.

She was seduced by a so-called gentleman—Alec, and from then on her life totally changed from this loss of innocence. People looked down on her and respected her no more. Actually she did nothing wrong because before she was seduced she knew nothing of men. She was just a girl when she first met that terrible man.

She was forced by the gossips and the church to blame herself for this accident, so she thought she deserved nothing good. Angel wasn’t satisfied with this vague answer and did his best to win Tess. Somehow she agreed and they soon fixed the wedding day. Soon after their wedding Angel confessed the crime he committed to a woman long time ago and asked for Tess’s forgiveness. Tess was not at all angry and forgave Angel at once; in fact she was rather happy and excited for she also had things to confess.

She sat and told everything to Angel, hoping he would forgive her as he was forgiven but she was wrong. She was not forgiven, not as she thought she was. The woman pays.

Without Angel’s love, nothing meant anything to her. The result wasn’t important now. Tess was arrested for her murder of that so-called gentleman. Why? She still loved Angel and when he finally went back to her and asked for HER forgiveness, after he reGREtted what he had done unfair to Tess, she was desperate. That was too late—Alec had always told Tess that Angel would never come back so he won Tess’s trust. Unluckily Angel did come back and found Tess.! Everything was too late!

Tess was deceived and she lost Angel for the second time! The strengh of her love was so strong that she had forgotten the difference between right and wrong. Before that she had done nothing wrong but when she killed Alec, everything really changed! She became a criminal! How could it be? She was as pure and innocent as the good wife in the Bible. Her whole character was honest and faithful. Angel figured out at last that a person should be judged not only on what he has done but also on what he wanted to do!

Tess didn’t want to be seduced by man and she had no power to defend herself so she lost her innocence and that’s all! Angel also did the wrong thing and it was even more serious than Tess’s crime but HE was not blamed for it. Why it is always the woman who pays? Why they are always hurt? Why was Tess’s girlish purity lost? Why does the wrong man take the wrong woman? Why do the bad often ruin the good? Why is beauty damaged by ugliness? Women are too weak! Thousands of years of history have shown us that women have always been treated unfairly!

In old China there was a culture, which didn’t think of women as human beings. If you asked one if he was the oldest in his family, he would probably answer “the oldest one” even if he had some elder sisters. If you asked why then he would say, “Ha, they are not included!”

People gave birth to many girls in order to have only one boy to keep the family name going. They thought girls had no use for the family. They would be married and go to live with their husbands’ home and be their wives some day sooner or later. So they were extremely hard on girls.

Girls should be hard working, faithful, loyal, intelligent, and virtuous and the most important thing was she must be a maiden! If her husband was the first man who touched her then she was a good girl, a good wife no matter how she thought. If she wasn’t, then she would gain a very bad reputation and nobody would dare to go near her. What about men? People did not care whether he was an experienced man or not, nor did they care about his character. They thought man equals power and power equals rights…

Several years ago,from joyo,I bought the book "the kite runner" which ranked first on best sellers volume.First reading the book,I was totally moved and even cried for the sad story.This year,I knew it has been adapted into a movie.After seeing the movie,I read again this book and gained some new views.

The novel begins a story about two boys.Amir is born in a rich family.Hassan is his servant as well as close friend.They both lose mother from birth and grow up like brothers.Hassan is very loyal to Amiar,but Amiar sells him.Many years later,Amir has settled down in America for years and established a family,but Hassan died for protecting Amirs luxury house in Afghanistan and leave an orphan.Accidentally,Amir gets to know a big secret and decides to atone for his crime that hound around him from childhood.

Reading it again,most of my original views has changed.

At the first place,I have a feeling of being cheated by the writer.The novel first attracted me before because it set its plot in a special environment---Afghanistan which even I often got news about from TV and newspaper,I knew the country utterly ignorant except wars and terrorism.So I wanted to understand more about the calamitous country.However,I am disappointed by the novel which just use a special background environment to tell a so-called travel of human nature .The theme of the novel should be atonement if it was taken off flowery coat.Bad gay like Amir and and good gay like Hassan,adding some the present best sellers polular elements like bastard,forming the main contents. In fact,the kite runner impressed me deeply and it just depends on sensational words.Besides,what makes me most dislike is that the writer,an Afghan-American,contorted some political elements for American advantages.The history background only make the affair of Russia invading and Taliban dictators go into particulars,but not mention Americas ignominious role in this politics.Why Taliban dictators are so unruly?Why Russia invaded Afghanistan in 1979?Why Afghan people still live in poor condition nowadays?America,a main actor is disposed of in this novel.

At the second place,the characters all serve to a tacky theme-atonement and birth secrects.When the birth secrects are exposed,the atonement travel begins.When the atonement finishes,the story finishes.

I even feel I am wrapped around the American medias little finger.Many celebrities and book concerns writed good comments,which helped it ranke first on sales volume for several times and made readers think it must get widely praised and then bought it without doubt finally.

Though I think the disadvantages are more than advatages,compared with the back atonement part,I like the front part that describes the pure friendship and innocent childhood between two boys.The description about the culture of kite in Afghanistan is excellent.

As a first book of the writer,it is resonable that the novel has some deficiencies.I hope his next and next works can more and more perfect.
