I have recently read Battle Hymn of Tiger Mother published by The Penguin Press in 2011. This autobiography was written by the Chinese American woman Amy Chua, a tenured professor in Yale Law School. To some extent, I don’t like Amy’s parenting in some aspects. In my opinion, she deprived the nature of children and pushed too much pressure on their children, especially on Lulu who was under the shadow of her excellent elder daughter—Sophia. While I was reading the third part in the rebellion part, I couldn’t control my own emotion, I felt what Lulu felt and even hated against her selfish and autocratic mother. I couldn’t understand why Amy didn’t let Lulu get up from sit, for water, not even to go to the bathroom when Lulu just wanted a rest during the long hours’ practice of violin. The Old Man and the Sea is one of Hemingways most enduring works and may very well become one of the true classics of this generation. But although Catherine loves him, even recognizes him as her soulmate, she cannot lower herself to marry so far below her social station. WUTHERING HEIGHTS is a bit difficult to "get into;" the opening chapters are so dark in their portrait of the end result of this obsessive love that they are somewhat off-putting. 今天，我把《老人与海》这一本书读完了，这一本书主要讲了一位老人在海上钓鱼，可他一连84没有钓上一条鱼。

其实这本书我读完后，并没有完全理解这本书的意思，于是我就问了妈妈，妈妈就又给我讲了一遍，我才明白了一些。

老人一连84天没有任何收获，可是他没有放弃，仍然不停的给自己加油鼓劲，最后他决定去深海里捕捉一条大大的鱼，于是他就出发了。最后虽然他钓到了一条好大的鱼，但在在往回返的时候却被大鲨鱼给吃光了，只留下了一条巨大的鱼骨头。他很伤心。

看完这本书，我心里有点难过。我觉得老人很可怜。

冰心在给《穆斯林的葬礼》写国际版的序言时，她说在读这本书之前，几乎对穆斯林一无所知。自己亲自看过之后，我深深表示赞同，我缺乏对其他民族和宗教的了解。小说大概讲述了一个北京玉器家族两代人的故事，章节交错的方式，让故事有穿越时空的感觉。讲述民国时的故事，让我想起了老北京的那些各行各业的老字号和文化;讲述北大燕园的景色，让我对北大和学生时代有些感伤;讲述避难伦敦，让我想起上个世纪的世界战争。当然，最最重要的还是主人公韩新月的命运和与楚雁潮老师之间的爱情。新月还是死了，带着遗憾走了。但是让我们明白了一个真理：爱情以及人性中美好的东西是可以超越宗教和种族的，虽然在现实中经常会被扼杀，而正因为现实的残酷，才越发觉得这些东西的珍贵。
