Today the Great Wall has become a place of interest not only to the Chinese but to people from all over the world. Many of them have come to know the famous Chinese saying: "He who does not reach the Great Wall is not a true man."

中国的长城

中国的万里长城被称为“万里长城”。事实上，它有6000多公里长。它蜿蜒地从西向东，穿过沙漠，越过高山，穿过山谷，直到最后到达大海。它是世界奇观之一。

长城有二十多个世纪的历史。它的第一部分是在春秋时期建造的。战国时期，有更多的城墙被用来保卫不同王国的边界。正是在秦朝，秦国把帝夫的发福部分统一为一个帝国。为了把敌人赶出他的帝国，秦始皇把所有的城墙连在一起。于是，长城诞生了。

长城的宽度足以让五匹马或十个人并排走。沿着墙的是瞭望塔，士兵们常常在那里守望。当敌人到来时，在塔上点燃了火作为警告。

在古代没有任何现代机器的情况下，很难建造这样一堵墙。所有的工作都是手工完成的。成千上万的人死了，被埋在他们建造的城墙下。长城不仅是由石头和泥土建成的，而且是几百万人的血肉所组成的。

今天，长城不仅对中国人，而且对来自世界各地的人都有兴趣。他们中的许多人都知道中国著名的谚语:“没有到达长城的人不是真正的人。”

记得上个暑假，我参观了祖国有名的八达岭长城。

那是一个阳光明媚的天气，一只只鸟在枝头欢唱，四周的大树郁郁葱葱，白云飘着，向我们微笑，太阳露出笑脸，连树木也伸出“手”来，欢迎我们的到来。我陶醉在这么美的景色中。突然，“嘣”一声，车停住了，原来到达目的地了，我们高兴地手舞足蹈。下了车，只见长城矗立在山上，看那长城，多像一条盘旋着的龙，再看那山脉，多像一片绿色的云啊!眼前的一切就像一条龙腾云驾雾在高空之中。

进了巨龙的长“尾巴”，只见一座座大石块矗立在长城中，许多游客都站在大石块上拍照，我也去拍了几张。拍完照后，我们继续向前走去，来到了“龙的腹部”。这里热闹非凡，从刚才我就发现，砖块上刻着许多字，例如：×××到此一游、我是长城的创造者等等。我情不自禁地感叹：长城是祖国的宝，为什么人们那么肆意破坏自己最爱的宝呢，为什么人们不爱护祖国的长城呢?这可是长城哇，是古人用汗水和生命建造出来的，为什么不保护它呢?

这次的参观，让我懂了：要珍惜别人的劳动成果。
