Summer can be very hot in southern Taiwan where the temperature usually

goes up to 32"C or more. Because of the heat it is a trying experience to go to

school or do anything else in a place that is not air-conditioned. Also because

of this I stay at home most of the time during the summer vacation and

occasionally go to the beach to plunge myself into the cool water as a way to

keep my body less sticky. Actually I like swimming think nothing is more

refreshing than a swim. In the summer vacation that has ended I went swimming

many times with my classmates we all had a good time. This summer vacation,

however, was not spent entirely in seeking fun. As a second-year senior student

I had to prepare myself for the college entrance examinations that were a year

away. In other words, I must find time to study, too. So I divided my time

between work play during the summer vacation derived benefit from this

arrangement.

过年了，过年了。春节快来了，家家户户忙着包饺子。妈妈也不例外。我看着妈妈灵巧的双手动着，不一会儿一个俱饺子就出来了。我也想跟妈妈学包饺子，妈妈答应了。

妈妈说：“包饺先把饺皮平放在手心上，然后用勺子或筷子夹上适当的饺馅，不能多也不能少，要根据饺皮的大小不断定，再把另一半饺皮像盖盖子一样折到放饺馅的一半饺皮上面，接着用手把折叠的饺皮捏紧，不让饺馅露馅，最后放到锅里煮。”

我听了妈妈的话，觉得包饺子简单的狠，一会儿肯定能学会。我拿着饺皮摊在手心上，不料饺皮粘了起来没法包了，我想：“哼，只量时失手，一个小水上的饺子怎么能难住我。”我又拿了一张饺皮，然后又用筷子夹了一些饺馅放到饺皮上，正准备捏，然后发现饺馅太多了，我又去掉一引起才做好了一个饺子。我高高兴兴地准备做下一个饺子的时候，刚才做的饺子又开了，原来是我捏的不够紧。我没有灰心也没有放弃，反而更有了自信，我照样又捏了一个又一个的饺子。饺子下锅了，不一会儿就煮好了，可让我伤心的是我包了十个饺子八个露馅了，妈妈却说：“虽然烂了八个，但是总还有两个是好的吧！”

我听了妈妈的话又开始包了，越包越好，终于有一次包的饺子一个也没有露馅。

当听到这个消息后，我高兴得手舞足蹈，兴奋的跳了起来。我一边津津有味地吃饺子，一边想：啊！如果不放弃不灰心有信心才能做成一件事啊！

春节里有很多习俗，每个习俗都会给我们带来欢乐，在所有习俗中，包饺子是我最喜欢的习俗。

大年三十的下午，我们包饺子。我们先准备材料，有擀面杖、蔬菜、猪肉、面粉，还有装馅的盆子、放饺子的盆子。

这些工具准备好之后，就进入了做水饺的第一步的工序：剁饺子馅，爸爸先用菜刀把蔬菜剁成用肉眼看不清的密密麻麻的东西，然后和剁碎的猪肉馅混合起来，变成蔬菜猪肉馅。

下一个工序是和面，爸爸在面粉里放了一些水，然后开始和面。不大工夫，面就和完了。

接着做饺子皮，爸爸把和好的面分成一块一块的，然后捏成一个个小圆球似的，再用上擀面杖，没过多久，薄薄的饺子皮终于出炉了，像块面饼。

做饺子的最后一道工序是包饺子，爸爸小心翼翼的把饺子皮拿起来，用筷子把盆里的馅放入皮里，最后把饺子皮“合拢”，这样，一个饺子就完成了。爸爸把一个个饺子放入放饺盆里。这一个个饺子就像一颗颗元宝。

如果想要吃到水饺，就得再煮一煮。爸爸先在锅里加水，加热几分钟后，水烧开了，爸爸就把水饺放入锅内。煮了几分钟后，香喷喷的水饺就出炉了。我尝了一个，真好吃。爸爸、妈妈和外婆也争相抢着吃，一家人脸上露出了笑容。

饺子是中国的传统食品，包饺子是中国的一种传统习俗，而如今，每当过年的时候，家家户户都会做水饺来欢度新年。每个人也从吃饺子中体会到了家庭的和谐与幸福。

时间飞逝而过，不知不觉，二十四节气之冬天第二个节气——冬至到了，从这以后的天气会越来越冷。而冬至，在我们北方有一个习俗——吃饺子。

今天放学回家，闻到一股香喷喷的饺子味。我迫不及待地冲到餐桌旁，夹起一个饺子，塞到嘴里，那种熟悉的味道在舌尖弥漫开来，渐渐扩散……吃着吃着，我心中有了疑问：为什么北方要在冬至这一天吃饺子呢？

姥姥告诉我：立冬，表示万物收藏，规避寒冷，以及秋收冬藏。我国民间常把这一天当作冬季的开始。我国过去是个农耕社会，劳动了一年的人们，利用立冬这一天来休息一下。对于立冬，还有很多民间谚语，如：“立冬不端饺子碗，冻掉耳朵没人管”、“立冬立冬，补嘴空”……

听完姥姥的话，我又吃了一个饺子。我边吃边想：是啊！以前的人们能吃上一顿饺子就很满足了，有的也可能吃不到呢！所以我们应该珍惜现在的美好生活，珍惜身边的一切万物……

二十四节气之一的冬至，有一个奇特的习俗——吃饺子。它是中国人的传统文化，带给了我们美好的祝福。

今天，妈妈买了肉、香菇、白菜，还有饺子。我好奇地问：“妈妈，为什么要买这么多菜呢?”妈妈回答说：“今天的食材是用来包饺子的。”我听了，已经迫不及待地想包饺子了，因为这是我第一次学包饺子。

猪肉是在菜市场用绞肉机搅碎的，妈妈回家把香菇、白菜洗好，切得细细小小的，还放了调料，先腌制一会儿，好入味儿。

过了一会儿，可以包饺子了。我问妈妈怎么包?妈妈说：“等我先把需要的东西准备好。”妈妈把饺子皮放好，又从厨房端来装了水的碗。我一脸疑惑：“妈妈，这水是用来干嘛的呀?”妈妈说：“你等一下就知道了，妈妈要变魔术给你看。”只见妈妈拿起一块饺子皮摊放在左手中，右手用筷子夹起一点馅，把馅放在饺子皮中间，再用右手沾了点碗里的水，轻轻在饺子皮的周围划了一圈，然后两手把饺子皮一捏，饺子就包好了。好神奇啊!

我也学着妈妈的样子包起来。我学着妈妈的样子也沾了一点水，结果我的手和饺子皮粘在了一起。我再看了一下饺子皮，都破了。我着急地问妈妈：“饺子皮破了怎么办?”妈妈就把手指沾了点水，把破洞的旁边涂了一点水，又把它们捏在了一起。一个被妈妈“补”好的饺子又恢复了原来的样子。

Thank you for taking the time to write your wonderful letter in support of MCEA (Maywood Chinese Education Association). Your letter clearly articulates all the major reasons children in Maywood will benefit from studying the Chinese language as part of their elementary school education. Although MCEA would like to see Palo Alto public schools implement the first bilingual Chinese kindergarten class in September of 2006, we have learned that the school district must take the time to understand how a new program will affect existing educational offerings, and to validate community interest. 最后，还是在老师和热心家长的细心指导下，我们才渐渐掌握了正确的方法，包出的饺子也逐渐变得有模有样了。

我捏住饺子这边，那边的馅就冒出来了;捏住那边，这边的馅又冒出来了。后来，我索性把面皮放在手里，同时往两边一捏，两边都不出馅了，但它的“肚子”却破了，油乎乎的肉馅弄得面手都是。我只得赶紧洗净，再拿来另一张面皮，把它的肚子补上，这才算包好一个饺子。
