This past Independence Day, I saw two things that disturbed me greatly: First, people bashing America and its shortcomings; Second, people defending America blindly, while giving no thought to others’ criticisms. I’m a liberal and I more than acknowledge that there are problems with our country. Our executive branch is larger and more powerful than I’d like, our education system is broken, and our economic policy is not optimal for growth. I also know America has a lot of ugly secrets in its past. From the genocide of Native Americans to slavery to our foreign policy nightmare with Latin America in the early twentieth century, it’s easy to see why so many are angered by the jingoistic attitude that July 4th celebrations can incur. But I also recognize how remarkable of an achievement it was for those few men to break away, in the name of independence, and take a risk by establishing a democracy back in 1776. I also recognize that although the sins of our Founding Fathers were great, their accomplishments were greater, leaving a legacy of democracy and national sovereignty that would spread like wildfire throughout the world. The revolution was important and the ideals that this country was founded on, ideals of equality, respect for one another, and a commitment to progress, are ideals to be proud of, even if we don’t always live up to those ideals. I know many liberals hate to hear it, but the majority of the world is worse off than us, from third world countries to dictatorships, the world has got a lot of bad in it. And the much longer, more troubled histories of nations such as England have more mistakes and terrible acts in them than ours do. America has ideals and a commitment to democracy and freedom you can find nowhere else. Our spirit is strong and even if our government doesn’t live up to that spirit all the time, our citizens strive for it. Independence Day isn’t about petty squabbles and historical smear campaigns. This day is about celebrating our achievements and our ideals, acknowledging our mistakes, and reaffirming our commitment to make this country better so that, one day, those principles that the men who drafted our Declaration of Independence put forth, will be fully realized.

在坐了将近十五个小时的飞机后，我们终于到达了美国的第一站，纽约。大家休整一下，我们就出发去美国的“炮台公园。”去往公园的途中，我支着下巴，向窗外欣赏着沿途的美景，只一会儿就到了“炮台公园”一走进拍套公园，里面的风景让我赏心悦目，江水边立上了几根老旧的木桩，天空中飞翔的海鸥累了就会停在木桩上休息。这是一幅多么和谐的风景画。

我还看到了黄石瀑布，瀑布上有一道彩虹，很多人都在看。去那里时，我又把腿摔破了，真是不小心呀。

妈妈很喜欢黄石北门的大石门，要跟它一起拍照，我们出北门时妈妈照了好几张，爸爸说相机都要没电了。

出黄石公园爸爸开了很陡峭的盘山路，非常长的一个旅行，我在车上吃东西、睡觉，看到了草原，小花和农场浇田的管子。一辆小黑车超速，爸爸靠边停车给他让路，我们变成了最后一个，我说这还蛮安全的。

我觉得电影告诉我的，就是题目上那句话。如果不信，那么就请彪悍的不相信。不要不相信，还怕这怕那，还害怕万一是真的怎么办?万一错了怎么办?任何介于信和不信两者之间的暧昧、忸怩的状态，都会给自己带来伤害——这就是这部电影告诉我的。

我们生活中不乏这样的例子。我们时常看见某人家里供着个佛像，然后我们问主人，哟?您还信佛那?主人往往回答，倒不是那么信，不过供供总是没坏处，万一真的有佛呢?我们时常看到某人脖子上戴个十字架，我们问，请问您是基督徒?经常有人回答，不是不是，我是为了避邪。

因此，所谓信仰，乃是必须出自心灵深处的，而不是出于任何功利的目的——比如自我保护，再比如祈求得到可能的拯救或祝福等等。当你出于这些功利的目的而去靠近一个信仰或者宗教的时候，却往往让自己出于精神上最为脆弱、最容易受到伤害的境地。

来美国之后，我学会了：整理自己的房间、自己管理好饮食、做家务等等……

早上起床就先叠好被子，然后就去洗刷，才去吃早餐，如果没人煮的话，我在冰箱里拿东西放进微波炉里热(美国都是这样的，在纽奥尔良没有养殖场，很多都是在休斯顿运输过来的，因为肉类都要冷藏保鲜，所以这里基本上没有当天新鲜的肉类，但我觉得都一样，新鲜和不新鲜也分不清，也不能自己养动物(除了家禽)，以前听奶奶说可以的，但是现在才知道不行)。星期二、五我把垃圾桶拿出外面，星期六有人会来收，然后再拿回来，有时候我就会去做家务，如：用吸尘器吸尘、一个月洗一次厕所、浇花、洗碗当然是我做的，在中国爸爸一直叫我洗碗、把衣服放到洗衣机里(这是最简单的)然后再把它放到干衣机里等等。这证明我的生活自理能力增长了，也就是学会了很多!

骑单车也终于会放开双手来骑了!就证明我比以前更有胆量了!以前我最多就只能坚持两、三秒，现在连十秒都可以了!而且我也在历史课上勇于talkaboutchina!比以前好很多很多了，况且有时候我都会主动和人家说话，要是以前的我，人家一定把我当成聋哑人……总之，我来到美国学到了勇敢，虽然不是很勇敢的那种，但可以到达这样的程度，我已经为自己骄傲了!

其他的一些小事就是：打字速度经过锻炼之后变快了、成绩也慢慢好了(有时成绩也会不好，但nobodyisprefect的嘛!)、会自己整理好自己的衣柜书架等等。我已经学会了这么多的东西，说明远在中国的家人可以不用担心了!

这些虽然很多人都可以办到，但总比以前的我好很多!!

几天前，在《新民晚报》上看到，《南京梦魇》由于难以继续支付音乐版权费用而有可能不得不停播，报纸上登载了捐款的方式，当时心中一动，随即又想到，像这样的新闻肯定会引起大家的关注，肯定会有很多人捐款，不差自己一个，谁知今天再拿起19号的新民晚报，却发现，由于捐款人数寥寥(超过10个!)数额太小(超过1000美元!)，并不能阻止影片停播的命运，而伴随着这稀少的捐款的，却是许多对制片人要求捐款的质疑。制片人朗恩·乔瑟夫博士对中国人的冷淡心灰意冷，表示将于9月1日撤下该片，并不再接受采访。

看完这篇报道，心里一直堵着，汗颜，这是我的第一个反应。

诚然，还有不少别的因素，就像刚才我从网上的另一篇报道中读到的：《南京梦魇》并未能在国内公映，国内知道此片的多为网民，而许多民众还把此片与不久前在国内上映的《南京》混淆了起来，不能理解为什么一部公映的影片要求捐款，这与其宣传力度不够有关(不过窘迫的资金和中国政府的不支持态度也是我们难以苛责制片方的)。

但是这并不能成为我为自己开脱的理由，我明明知道《南京梦魇》与《南京》的区别，我可以专门到上海影城去买一张《南京》的电影票，却懒得跑一趟银行来实践挂在嘴边的爱国，反而用“不差我一个”来自我欺骗。

也许正是大量的“不差”造成了今天的局面，因为中国有海量的网民，而其中一贯秉持“反日”甚至“仇日”的爱国青年也决不在少数，我们可以用人海优势把长城拱上新世界奇迹的顶端(是的，这个活动我也参与了)，我们可以在媒体谴责日本政府和人民的无耻、无知，用文字和游行来表示愤怒，我们可以在网络上铺天盖地地批评日本人，甚至于谩骂，但是当需要我们不仅仅是敲敲键盘、点击鼠标，而是要费事费时用真金白银来表示我们的爱国热忱时，却只有十几个人，怎能不令人汗颜!!这样的我们有什么资格要求日本人正视历史。

仅仅就这部影片来说，即使它被撤下网站，也不会消失，因为制片人早就免费提供了下载，凭借中国人出色的下载和分享技术，要找到也不是难事，我在打字的同时，就用了仅仅二十分钟下载完成了。但是《南京梦魇》如果真的因为资金的短缺(而非任何政治刁难、技术问题)被撤下，这无疑是中国人的耻辱，在这些有历史良知的美国人面前，在张纯如的亡灵前，我们怎么还能抬得起头来?

就在刚才，我搜索到，海外学子在看到相关报道后，捐助了约一万多美元，每个人大概就几十美元，乔瑟夫博士也表示，如果资金筹集足够，将不会撤片。我在写完这篇短文后，会汇款两百元到制片人提供的中国账号，因为刚刚成为职场新人，而且学校放假，还没能领到工资，我只能提供这些。但至少我希望在将来，当我的学生问我为自己的言论实践过什么，我不会语塞。

假如我在美国假如我在美国，我会跟所有的黑人小朋友做朋友，一块儿学习，一块儿玩耍。为什么要歧视他们呢?我记得我的老师说过，我们都生活在同一个地球，都是一家人，所有的人都是我们的兄弟姐妹。既然是兄弟姐妹，那不就更应该相亲相爱吗?我不光自己和他们做朋友，我还会带动我身边所有的白人和他们做朋友。《三字经》都说：“人之初，性本善”嘛，我相信友谊和爱一定能挤走他们内心的狭隘。同时，我还会告诉我身边所有的人《黑人孩子罗伯特》的故事，让他们知道黑人是多么的宽容大度，是多么的了不起。

我一直以为我才是世界上生活最不幸的人，因为爸爸妈妈的严格管束。我从来不知道世界上还有这么多生活不幸的人，落后、缺水、有战争、还有严重的种族歧视。这是我在学习了《地球家庭》这一单元所意识到的，并且深深地震撼了我。忽然，我突发奇想——假如我在美国。

假如我在美国，我一定要好好学习，为将来能够进入美国的领导层打下坚实的基础。因为我觉得只有这样，才能更直接、更有效地为消除黑人与白人之间的种族歧视作贡献，同时我还要积极倡导我的“要和平不要战争” 的理念，这样就再也不会出现像雷棣一样失去爸爸的孩子。世界和平，家家其乐融融，那该是多么美好的画面那。

假如我在美国，……

这个暑假我们来到了美国。坐飞机需要12个小时，为了倒时差，我在飞机上没有睡觉。每当我想睡觉时，我的身体里好像有一个小的我再告诉真的我，“你要倒时差，你要倒时差，你不能睡觉。”所以我就一直睁着大眼睛不睡觉。

到了美国，我们在机场拿完箱子，就去租车的地方。租车的地方摆放着好多大大小小的车。有小轿车、还有比较大的车。那里的车颜色也很多。有红色、白色、黄色、黑色，五光十色，美丽极了!我们租了一辆大车，坐上去觉得特别过瘾。因为我们在北京的车是小轿车，特别矮。而这辆车很高。我们的车是白色的，牌子是福特的。从远处看闪烁着美丽又耀眼的光芒。可见工作人员洗的多干净。我们因为怕迷路，所以聪明的爸爸租了一个GPS(导航)来带我们去各种好玩的地方。

我们跟随着导航的脚步来到了第一个酒店。来这的路上我发现美国的车开得都很快。只要随便一停下来就会有好多辆车飞快的跑过去。到了酒店，我们登记完就去旁边的一个小镇吃饭。吃饭的时候我又发现美国的食物都是很大份很大份的。我不明白这是为什么，所以就去问妈妈。妈妈说因为美国人吃得多。我这才明白。吃完了美味的食物，我们就该回家了。路边还有一些街头艺人，他们唱的歌可真动听呀!回到了酒店，因为整整12个小时我都没睡觉，所以我非常疲惫，感到很困。就马上睡觉了。早上我很早就起床了。我想看看几点了，我就拿出了自备的小手电，照着我的那块表想看看到底几点了。当我看到表，眼睛都瞪大了。原来现在才一点钟呀!我想在睡一会儿但是实在睡不着了。这是爸爸醒来了，没过一会妈妈也醒来了。妈妈对我说：“咱们的时差还没倒过来，可是明天就会倒过来的。”我明白了，于是我们度过了这个漫长的夜晚。终于到8：00了，我兴冲冲的起来，穿好衣服，准备去玩。爸爸开车带我们去了我们现在在的地区：santa monica的一个沙滩玩，我们玩了好久， 不过我还是舍不得走。爸爸对我说：“下面该去你最喜欢的迪斯尼了。”我一听到迪斯尼就赶紧穿上鞋子，进了车。爸爸带我们开到了迪斯尼旁边的一个酒店里。

我们先来到了迪斯尼的一个小镇。里面都是卖东西的。我看了一眼商品的价格，然后对妈妈说：“呀!这卖的东西好贵呀!妈妈对我说：”是呀!你进迪斯尼就知道那东西有多贵了!“第二天吃完早饭后就走路来到了迪斯尼。刚走到了红绿灯时，我就看到那得人很多，一看就是要去迪斯尼的。大家像个大部队一样走过了马路。我们当然也紧随其后。到了迪斯尼我找了所有卡通人物的签名，就是没要到我最喜欢的公主：爱洛和白雪公主，哎!真是可惜!像什么：小熊维尼，米奇，米妮，老虎，以及所有的公主……我全都有了它们的签名我们在这里玩了激流勇进、过山车……

我们来到了乐高世界，里面所有的东西都是乐高玩具做的。还记得一年级时我上过搭建乐高的课外班。如果用哪个比起这边的可就差远了。那里有小人、大车……都是乐高拼成的。我们玩了好多游戏，很开心，很刺激。

然后的日子我们去爬山、逛街、游泳。

这将是我最愉快，最开心的暑假!

今天我们踏进了一个迷人的地方---位于圣地亚戈的巴纳德小学。

刚一下车，一阵春风轻轻拂来，小学两旁栽满了花木，虽已是冬天，但却感觉四季如春，给人画一般的美丽。这时，一个身着西服的男人走了过来，他的模样非常亲切，而他就是这所小学的校长。他和蔼地向我们招招手，便领我们进入了学习的天堂。

刚进教室边，一阵欢快的歌声在我耳畔边不停地回响着，激情的舞姿伴随着灵活的身体，真是让人眼前一亮!接着我们走进了学校的长廊，虽说是在美国，并没有庆祝春节的习俗，但长廊上、教室中依旧张灯结彩，喜迎新春。在那里，我们认识了许多的新朋友，大家一对一地交流，心中的喜悦像奔腾地泉水一般，源源不断，奔流不息。

时光总在那一霎那停顿，又在那一霎那溜走，我们必需得离开这令人陶醉的校园，我恋恋不会舍地望着身后的校园，想把这份美好的记忆永久地珍藏。

American houses usually have private kitchens, a living room and sometimes separate areas for eating and watching television. A house usually has its own mailbox, a yard with plants or perhaps a lawn, and a place to store garbage out of sight.

Most American are happy to talk about their homes. And if theyve done anything special in their home, theyll let you know what it was, and maybe tell you what it cost to put in the Jacuzzi, deck or patio, etc. Most Americans live in cities, but nearly as many live in suburbs. Suburban American has shopping centers called malls and residents usually need a care to get around. Most of the houses in the suburbs are one or two stories tall, with private yards and gardens and garage. There are few tall buildings in the suburbs. Cities have neighborhoods, warehouse stores, and public transportation is usually pretty good. Private houses might only have a back yard, and if there is a garage it probably is small. Cities have a lot of apartment buildings and some tall buildings may seem to scrape the sky , so they are called skyscraper .

今天，爸爸开车带我们去美国最大的高原湖泊，它位于加州和内华达州之间群山中。这个湖泊是几千年前，火山喷发后所形成的高山湖泊--太浩湖。

The United States of America (USA) is the only superpower on this globe now. It is a developed country with diversified cultures such as Asian, European and African. Some people call USA "the melting pot" because of the diversity.

USA has a dominating power over economy, education, policitcs, milatary and culture all around the world. It has advanced industries, ideas and some of the smartest scientist on this earth.

But it also has its own problems such as racial discrimination and the widening gap between the rich and the poor.
