结合实例分析，引导学生学会观察生活。当学生逐渐注意观察生活时，教师要联系实际，具体指导学生观察生活，教给学生观察和分析的方法。这些方法是：一、由表及里,深入思索。一次，有个学生清晨上学，经过学校传达室，听到老传达员打电话到供电所，大声地问路灯为什么还不关掉，随即又听见老传达员火爆爆地对着话筒叫：“什么？什么？忘记了？长着脑袋干什么的？说得轻巧，忘记了。这是浪费，是不负责任！”这个学生听了，到班上又告诉其他的同学。语文教师听到了，觉得很有意义，就启发同学们议论：传达员为什么要“多管闲事”管到供电所去？又为什么要“发了火”？是不是态度不好？他为什么把误时关灯说成是“浪费”“不负责任”，甚至责备对方“长着脑袋干什么”？同学们讨论得很热烈。课后，有些同学还特地走访了老传达员，了解到他平时所做的许多平凡而有意义的小事，他们便以此为题材，写了一篇稿子。写的内容充实，文笔感人。二、由点到面，目力集中。观察，宜“细”不易“粗”。走马观花，只能“见大不见小”，写出来也免不了“一般化”。只有把视线集中在某一“点”上，落实在某一个人或某一件事具体事物上面，才能发现特征，辨别异同。比如看“拔河”比赛，只有一个人一个人的观察，只有把每一个人的动作、姿势、表情、神态都看得分明，“记拔河比赛”的作文才有可能写的细致逼真。许多同学写有关“运动会”的命题作文，往往写成“消息报道”、“概况介绍”,主要是由于没有细致观察的缘故。三、由分到合，先分后合。集中目力于某一个人或某一件具体事物，这“目力”又怎样具体运用？还是不能“囫囵”地看，而是要“化整为零”，从各个侧面去看。有的同学在银杏树下看了半天,但写出来的“银杏新姿”却既无“新”姿，又无“新”意，多半是些“高大”、“茂盛”之类现成词语，凡是大树均可适用。原因是没有从树的干、枝、叶、皮、果等方面作细致的观察。经教师具体指点后,情况就不一样了。由于看得细致,描写也就细腻得多,生动得多。再如看“菊展”。只有仔细地看，从名称、形态、色彩等方面仔细观察，才能发现特点，找出特征。如果只是浏览一遍，泛泛地扫一眼，那么除了看见“五色斑斓”之外，是不会留下什么具体印象的。四、由此及彼，展开联想。观察与思维、联想等是密切不可分的。只有在观察的同时，展开由此及彼的联想，才能丰富材料，充实内容，突出特征。否则，不是浮泛，就是干瘪。学生的观察文之所以往往瘦而瘪，浅而直，在很大程度上是因为想不开、拓不开。比如写人，要能够通过察颜观色、听话听音等来联想到人物的内心活动，并能够通过语言描写、神态描写、行动描写等反映人物的心理活动和精神面貌。五、随手采撷,及时记录。“好记性不如烂笔头”,要培养学生良好的观察习惯，也要培养学生勤于动笔，随时记录观察、思索所得的习惯。对周围的事物多看、多想，并且把观察所得随时记录下来，养成习惯，看了写，写了看，久而久之，观察能力也就会逐渐提高。

让学生谈体会，运用典型引路。有的学生观察生活比较细致，联想比较丰富，思路比较开阔，取材于日常生活的作文写得比较生动、深刻。教师可以让这些学生谈谈自己平时观察生活、分析生活的体会和经验，让他们现身说法，同学们听了，不仅觉得亲切，受到的启发也会很大。一次，语文教师以《记一个熟悉的人》为题布置作文。有个学生写他的邻居华工程师，通过对华工程师的语言、行动、心理活动等具体描写,生动地反映了党的十一届三中全会之后，老一辈知识分子的欢畅心情和只争朝夕的献身精神,写得有血有肉，活灵活现。通过个别交谈，教师了解到这个学生平时注意观察生活，并随时把一些典型细节（人物的动作、神态、肖像特征等）记在本子上。因此，他写这类作文，就感到有话可说。他谈的体会很实在，对同学们启发很大。他说：“写人记事，首先要熟悉那些人，要理解那些事。而要熟悉和理解，平时就要多看看，多听听，多想想。观察多了，素材积累多了，就能不断加深对人对事的理解，理解了，写起来就不困难了。”在特殊情况下，也不妨让那些不注意观察的同学谈谈“写不出”的苦楚，从“另一面”给大家以启发。
