荀子的《劝学》就说过:“骐骥一跃，不能十步;驽马十驾，功在不舍。锲而舍之，朽木不折;锲而不舍，金石可镂。”成功在于坚持不懈。再好的马跳一次，总归还是不及驽马的十步之遥;即使是一段朽木，“锲而舍之”，终难折断，更何况要使之成器:金石之可镂，权在于不舍的精神，不懈的毅力。短短的几句话，就道出了坚持才能胜利成功的奥妙。

坚持就是胜利。在美国，有一位穷困潦倒的年轻人，即使在身上全部的钱加起来都不够买一件像样的西服的时候，仍全心全意地坚持着自己心中的梦想一做演员、拍电影、当明星。当时，好莱坞共有500家电影公司。他带着为自己量身定做的剧本前去拜访所有公司。三轮的拜访，1500次的拒绝，可以耗费一个普通年轻人所有的热情与激情。但他并不是普通的年轻人。他决定开始第1501次的拜访。终于，在第四轮拜访第350家公司的时候，奇迹出现了。幸运之神这次终于光临这个年轻人身上——这家公司老板同意投资开拍他写的这部电影，并由他担任男主角。这部电影就是之后红遍全世界的《洛奇》，而这位年轻人就是席维·史泰龙。假设，在第三轮之后，他就停住了第1501次的拜访，现在还有这个巨星吗?还有他参与的电影佳作吗?还能成就他美好的梦想吗?相信答案是不确是的。正是因为这种坚持不懈的精神才让他取得了最后的成功，最终的胜利。

巴尔扎克说:“持续不断的劳动是人生的铁律，也是艺术的铁律。”有不少的文学艺术就是持之以的“铁律”。马克思写《资本论》花了40年;《徐霞客游记》的诞生用了34年;而歌德的《浮士德》更是60年之精华。这些数字，简单明了，却为我们提供了一个不折不扣的事实:想要成就一番事业，就需要持之以恒的坚持。

回顾中国历史，楚霸王项羽更让我们看到了懈怠的隐患。

曾经年少时，读书识字三心二意，凡事“浅尝辄止”:想要学剑，又不肯花时间去练剑:欲熟兵法，亦是故态复萌，有始无终。所有事情，没有一件是能够坚持到底的。这种习性一直跟随他直到败送自己的霸王社稷。楚汉战争败北，项羽更是心情浮躁，既无恒心又无毅力，更遑论“收拾旧山河”的决心和霸气。倘若他有这坚持不懈的品格在，年少时的他还会对所有事情“知其皮毛即可”吗?年长后的他还会丢失江山社稷吗?反观齐白石老先生，一个生命不息笔不辍的画家。在其七十余年的画画生涯中，几乎天天都作画。27岁之后，只有四次搁过笔:两次是害病，两次是父母去世。这种勤奋是坚持不懈的。1957年，他逝世这一年的春夏之际，精神和体力已经不允许他再继续作画了。在这样的情况下，他仍然顽强地绘出了一幅花中之王——牡丹，完成了自己的绝笔之作。齐老先生对艺术孜孜不倦的追求，才成就了他在当今画坛的盛名。

坚持是在滴水如冰的寒冬中，对春天的渴望:是在漆黑如墨的深夜中，对黎明的期盼。

坚持，是在人生航程里唯一不改的目标，也是我们人生成功的终极法宝。

“旅客同志请注意，有位产妇难产，哪位医生、护士或者有接生经验的同志，请火速到列车前进方向的8号车厢，以解救产妇母子的危难！”

这已经是火车上的第三次广播了。他不仅一直绷着脸听着，而且心更加忐忑不安起来：去吧？自己可是百里闻名的妇产科医生，曾经救活了多少母子的命啊，深受多少患者的尊敬和爱戴啊！人命关天啊，医生的天职是治病救人…..应该去！

不，不能去！自己现在已经不是医生了——即使立志当个妇产科的好医生，也因缺失母爱而善念淡薄，因生活遭遇而性格偏激……以致贪欲享乐而为非作歹……是个地地道道在逃通缉犯……唉！虽然现在是化妆易容、伪造证件，但总觉得有无数双眼睛在时刻盯着自己…..去，就必然会暴露身份，那后果就…..不能去，何况再过三站一下车就是林区了，人烟稀少，又有哥们儿接应……

“旅客同志请注意，现在孩子已生的半个头，但赤脚医生大姐的技术有限，说自己无法帮助产妇顺利生产……人命关天，现在十分危险，请懂得生产技术的同志火速到8号车厢来！救人要紧，救人要紧…..”

第四次广播还没有播完，他再也听不下去，产妇那痛苦而绝望的表情、孩子那露出半头的垂危生命，都清晰地浮现在他的眼前——他仿佛看到当年的妈妈，看到当年的自己……他心急火燎，感到自己有些渴，顺手操起茶桌的矿泉水就要喝……

“哎呀，不能喝！那是我喝过的，我得过肝炎病，别传染了你，要喝就喝这瓶吧！”对坐的那位奶奶递过来一瓶矿泉水，亲切和蔼地说，“孩子，出门都不容易。一上车我就看出你心里有事，怎么每次广播一响你就不自在，那个产妇是你的亲人啊？”

望着慈祥、友善的老太太，他接过矿泉水，却没有打开喝，只说声“谢谢”就再也无法控制自己的情绪了，他不禁身体颤抖、泪流满面了….不！孩子不能再没有妈妈，世上不能再有第二个自己……他心一横：对——救人要紧！

快速地奔向8号车厢，他连声地嚷着：“让一让，让一让——我是医生——我是妇产科医生！”

……毕竟是医术高超、经验丰富，仅仅十分钟，孩子降生了，母子脱险了，临近的旅客们笑了，大家以热烈的掌声向他致意，他也长出了一口气……

可是，就在人们满怀敬意看他的同时，一副冰冷的手铐扣上了他的手腕。只听便衣警察说：“刘医生，你还真没让人失望，凭高超的医术，使母子绝处逢生；这是做了件大好事，立了大功。赶快洗去脸上的伤疤跟我们走吧，你的各种表现人民都会看在眼里，纪录在你人生的履历中的。”

“是的，我会积极配合，跟着你们走的。”说这话时，他的脸上不再是紧绷着的，而是轻松地笑着。

dazu county, located in the southeast of sichuan province, is 271 kilometres away from chengdu and 163 kilometres away from chongqing. "dazu" here means "harvest and abundance (dafeng, dazu)".

the work of dazu rock carvings began in the first year of yonghui in the tang dynasty (650a.d.), and continued until the ming and qing dynasties. now, it enjoys equal popularity with theyungang and longmen grottoes. the general term of "dazu rock carvings" refers to all the cliffside carvings in dazu county, which includes the carvings in beishan (including beita), baodingshan, nanshan, shizhuanshan and shimenshan. baoding grotto, 15 kilometres northeast of the county seat, is the largest and best preserved one and is a key cultural relic site under state protection.

there are more than 50,000 buddhist, taoist and confucian rock carvings and 100,000 characters of inscriptions dotted around dazu. the carvings not only include the statues of buddha and bodhisattva but also include that of monarchs, ministers, military officers, high and low-ranking officials, jailers, executioners, monks, rich and poor people, and folk art performers. the earliest grotto was carved in the early tang dynasty and most of them have a history over 1000 years.many of the carvings in baoding grotto reflect religious doctrines and another set of carvings reflects confucianism, specifically filial piety. what the carvings offer to visitors is not only the wonderful enjoyment of the magnificent art but a buddhist teaching like this: one can free himself from earthly worries by self-cultivation and does not need to go beyond his own inner world to

find the truth of buddhism. there are also many other carvings at the site that tell buddhist doctrines through the lives of ordinary people. with rich images as well as inscriptions, the dazu grottoes are regarded as an art treasure house that fully reflected the society, philosophy, religion and folklore of that time. in 1999, unesco listed dazu stone carvings as a world cultural heritage site. one point to be noted is that the dazu grottoes are the only ones that were implemented according to an overall design among over 100 grottoes in china.

In my life I have met many people who are really worth my recalling. But perhaps the most unforgettable person I ever knew is my Chinese language teacher.

What frequently brings back memories of my school teacher is his special qualities. First of all, I was attracted by his lively wit. I remember we always long for his class with great eagerness because his lecture were humorously delivered, never failing to provoke loud laughs. Second, he gave us the greatest gift a teacher can offer-- an awakening of a passion for learning. He not only led us to an appreciation of the beauty and perfection of Chinese and literature, but also aroused our great interest in exploring something deeper in this field. Finally, I was deeply impressed by the respect he showed for us, for he treated us like friends rather than students.

Although it is nearly 10 years since I attended his last class, he is the talk of our old classmates, and I know part of him has already stayed in my heart.
