The Lunar New Year

The Lunar New Year occasion to the Chinese people. It lasts about the first four days of the year, during which people do not work except for the workers on duty. Students do not go to school, and shops are closed.

Several days before the new year, people begin to prepare. Farmers kill pigs, sheep, cocks and hens. City dwellers buy meat fish and vegetables. Houses are cleaned; couplets are posted on the doors. Colourful lanterns are hung at the gate.

On the eve of the new year, each family has its members gatherd together and eats a family reunion dinner. After the meal they watch TV until the clock strickes twelve. Then every family sets off long strings of small firecrackers and other fireworks to welcome the new year. On the first day of the new year, almost everyone is dressed in his or her best. There are a lot of traditions of the eve inherited for generations. But,

now more and more new fashions introduced into this eve and even replaced the

old traditions. More and more people are glad to have the dinner in the

restaurants instead of cooking and having at home. However, no matter what it

is, a harmouious and peaceful night is the favorite of everybody here.

In China, Spring Festival is the biggest day. People will come back home

and enjoy spending some time with their families. So no matter how far they are,

they will figure out all the ways to come back home and get reunited. The house

cleaning work before the coming of this big day always brings me the happy

memory. We can find something lost a long time ago in the corner. It is like the

surprise and makes me feel so excited. On the New Year’s Eve, all of my families

will sit together and enjoy the real big meal. We share our happiness and the

future expectation. What a nice moment.

I remember once upon a time, when I was running 800meters, I felt there

seemed to be the impossible mission for me, I wanted to give up, then my teacher

told me that I should not think about the 800meters, I should set up 100meters

The Middle-Autumn FestivalThe Middle-Autumn Festival is one of the traditional Chinese festivals, it is often held in September or October. During the festival, family members get united and have moon cakes together. There are various kinds of moon cakes, such as bean paste, egg-yolk or meat. The shape of a moon cake is round as it symbolizes a big moon. Moreover, in the evening of the Middle-Autumn Festival, people get together in a vacant place, eating delicious moon cakes while appreciating the beautiful moon hanging in the dark sky. Since I was small, I have heard about the Great Wall, it is very long, a
