支持低碳生活不能因为自己“穷”而不为。有一些生活不富裕的人认为:我只要吃饱饭，住得暖，便心满意足，低碳生活那种时尚的话题与我无关。而且，我不开车，没豪宅，日常的排放量微乎其微，支持低碳生活?应先从物质丰富的人开始……这种责任上的“先人后己”，会让我们的低碳生活陷入无休止的争论。

最后，低碳生活不能因为别人“不为”而自己不为。且不论素质高低、生活穷富，人们大都有一个特点，就是爱跟别人比。别人不做的事，凭什么我就要做呢?别人出门就餐不自己带筷子，那我也继续使用饭店的一次性筷子;别人出门开车，那我也不去辛苦地挤公交车;别人去超市买东西不带购物袋，那我也继续用省事的塑料袋……人们在追求排碳“公平”的争论中，正在让低碳生活的美好愿望逐渐变得遥不可及，甚至成为幻影。
