《雾都孤儿》让我学会深思，给了我很大启发。它是我读过的第一本大部头外国名著，我要好好地珍藏这本书。

大自然的魅力无穷无尽，总是让人感觉若即若离的一种朦胧。所谓的鹰击长空，鱼翔浅底，驼走大漠，虎啸深山，便是大自然的一点极致。江山如娇多娇，引无数英雄竞折腰，这或许便是大自然的另一番风情。曾几何时，大自然的景物被文人用作托物言志、借景抒情的工具，大自然则又披上了一层神秘的感情面纱，与诗人、作家同悲共喜，感时花溅泪，恨别鸟惊心，落霞与孤鹜齐飞，秋水共长天一色，枯藤老树昏鸦，小桥流水人家，古道西风瘦马，夕阳西下,上下五千年，滚滚长江水，华夏一代代炎黄子孙，与大自然和谐相处时，又不断点缀修饰着这位伟大的母亲，这位世界上最漂亮、最温柔、最贤惠的母亲。

Earth Hour started in Australia with millions of homes and businesses turning their lights off for one hour. Now it has grown to become one of the world’s biggest climate change initiatives. People are all joining together in a global effort to show that it’s possible to take action on global warming.

Earth Hour has brought about some new changes to our lives. The iconic Bird’s Nest National Stadium and the nearby Water Cube National Aquatics Center, usually illuminated by floodlights, went dark at 8:30 p.m., while dozens of hotels, office buildings, shopping malls and restaurants also switched some lights off. People join activities such as candle-lit dinners and star-gazing parties as a response to the call for going dark. However, some critics have dismissed the event as simply a gimmick that will not make any difference.

From my point of view, Earth Hour is a global call to action to every individual, every business and every community. A call to stand up, to take responsibility and to get involved in working towards a sustainable future. Earth Hour is a message of hope and a message of action. Everyone can make a difference.

From June1, 2008, shops and supermarkets are forbidden from offering free plastic bags to customers, according to a new law. A nation-wide campaign against plastic bags has been launched.

Nowadays, Chinese people use up to three billion plastic bags a day. While being very convenient to shoppers, plastic bags also cause serious white pollution” and waste resources.

Though the ban may cause some inconvenience to shoppers, it can help reduce the use of plastic bags when people have to pay for them. Besides, the ban, in away, can promote public awareness of environmental protection.

So I think it necessary to forbid shops and supermarkets from offering free plastic bags. When shopping, we can use cloth bags or baskets instead of plastic bags as we used to.

五、大气污染治理需要广大群众的积极参与，希望您从自我做起，从身边小事做起，从现在做起：出行时，减少使用私家车，选择步行、骑行、公共交通等绿色出行方式;生活中，不乱扔生活垃圾，拒绝露天烧烤;敢于批评和纠正损害环境的不文明行为，勇于揭露和举报破坏环境的违法行为，主动参与到防治行动中来。

“遛狗不见狗，狗绳提在手，见绳不见手，狗叫我才走。”这是最近我们听见最多的关于雾霾的“名言”。

早晨起来，拉开窗帘，望一眼窗外，感觉就像自己眼瞎了一样。看不到湛蓝的天，看不到悠悠的白云。天地之间一片混沌，一切都是灰色的。连对面彩色的楼房，也只有朦胧的轮廓。

在我们不经意之间，雾霾已经悄悄的笼罩着整个城市。

每天上学之前，都要全副武装，生怕雾霾被自己吸进肺里。但是，这又有什么用？

路上的车还是呼呼的排着废气，远处的工厂也在不断地排着滚滚黑烟，路两边的树也看不见了，人们都带着白色口罩。

那么，这令人厌恶的雾霾又是怎样产生的呢？

我们许多家庭都有小汽车，但在我们坐在小汽车里准备去旅游的同时，我们的小汽车排出的尾气，却在悄悄的给我们身后的雾霾做着贡献。

在城市的偏远郊区，一些化工厂正在“大显身手”，那日夜排放的浓浓黑烟，正在慢慢的融入空气之中。

在元旦的烟花晚会中，那绚丽多彩的烟花，那噼里啪啦的爆竹，让空气中烟雾腾腾，变得非常混浊，空气质量急剧下降。这些就是造成雾霾的主要原因，它们在带给我们快捷方便、赏心悦目的同时，也悄悄地给我们带来了意想不到的后果。

雾霾的天气，我们呼吸的是混浊的气体。空气中的霾会引起肺炎等疾病。1952年，英国伦敦的那场雾霾似无形的杀手，在短短五天内就夺取了4000人的生命，在之后两个月内有夺去了8000人的生命。我们由此可见雾霾的威力是多么强大。

雾霾这么严重，我们该怎样防范呢？

我们要出门戴口罩，吃清淡的食品，多喝水。在雾霾天气中，我们要少开窗通风。而且还要适当的补充维生素D。当你从外边回到室内，要洗手、洗脸、漱口。而且一定要减少室外活动。如果一定要运动运动的话，可以做室内操。

我们要的是清新的空气，要的是健康的体魄。请不要以牺牲健康为代价，而换来所谓的美好生活。少开车，绿色出行，多种树，保护森林。治雾霾，从我做起。

Throughout history man has changed his physical environment in order to improve his way of life. With the tools of technology he has altered many physical features of the earth. He has transformed woodlands and prairies into farms and made lakes and reservoirs out of rivers for irrigation purposes or hydroelectric power. Man has also modified the face of the earth by draining marshes and cutting through mountains to build roads and railways.

However, mans changes to the physical environment have not always had beneficial results. Today, pollution of the air and water is an increasing danger to the health of the planet. Now environmental protection is more pressing than ever before. As we know, massive destruction of environment has brought about negative effects and even poses a great threat to mans existence. Indifference to these problems will mean committing suicide. Therefore, effective measures should be taken and laws passed to conserve environment. Otherwise, man is certain to suffer from the serious consequences caused by this lack of care for his living surroundings
