我们最高兴的事当然是燃放烟花爆竹了。燃放烟花爆竹是我们中华民族的传统文化。现在，办喜事要燃放，元宵节要燃放，过年也要燃放。每到春节，华灯璀璨、锣鼓齐鸣，鞭炮声此起彼伏，为沸腾的大地奏起了新春之曲。漂亮的烟花和清脆而猛烈的鞭炮总能带给人们欢乐。今年我也不例外，过年的时候，我买了一大堆烟花爆竹，它给我全家带来了欢乐。为什么会有在春节燃放烟花爆竹的习俗呢?就让我 们来了解一下吧:

相传在很久很久以前，有一种叫“年”的怪兽，它常年深居海底，每到除夕它就爬上岸来吞食牲畜伤害人命，后来，人们发现了驱赶年兽的方法，由于“年”最怕红色、火光和炸响，所以除了在门上贴大红春联，还有就是要燃放烟花报爆竹，虽然这是一个传说，但过年贴春联和放烟花爆竹这个习俗却一直流传下来了。

烟花爆竹有优点也有缺点。它能带来欢乐，但在欢乐的背后却隐藏着极大的危险:实验证明，一枚直径两厘米的小鞭炮可以炸掉假手的一根手指，一枚直径二十厘米的鞭炮可以把假人的身体炸成两半，而且燃放烟花时如果不慎使火星子坠入易燃物品上，便会引起火灾，造成惨痛的后果。 希望在过年时大家在燃放烟花爆竹享受快乐时光的同时一定要格外小心，防止不必要的后果发生。

市政府都会在新世纪广场燃放烟花，通常20：30开始燃放，眼看20：00了，我们立刻动身，向广场方向走去。

一路上，我们看见的人数不胜数，一批又一批的摩托车，三三两两的人们，都在朝着即将炸开美丽烟花的方向前进。

五百米，四百米，广场慢慢出现在我们眼前，正在此时，一束烟花在漆黑的夜空中炸开，仿佛开了一束大花，将天空映得五彩斑斓——烟花燃放开始了!人们不由得加快了脚步，而那一辆辆的摩托车，则飞也似的向前冲去，我们更是两腿生风，跑进了广场。

顿时，我们犹如扎进了人堆里，到处都是人头攒动，每个人都在仰望天空，盼望下一束烟花快些开放。

“嗖嗖嗖”，一个个光球拖着长长的尾巴，疾速地窜上了夜空，“叭叭叭”地爆炸，十分美丽，有的像霓虹灯一般五颜六色、绚丽无比，有的像巨伞一样，蓬蓬松松，有的像流星似的，划过天际，光彩夺目……晃得人眼睛都花了，满脑子只留下无数个“美”字。

“叭”的一声，又是一束烟花绽放在人们的视界。这束烟花可非同小可，它把我们深深地吸引住了，是我见过的最为奇特的烟花，三个绿色的小球连在一起，随着吹来的微风轻轻地扭动着，就像一条在天空中爬行的绿色“毛毛虫”嘛!再仔细一看，“毛毛虫”的屁股后面挂着一个红色的圆球，像一个红灯笼似的。将它们连起来一看，就如一个发亮的气球，而如果先看“毛毛虫”再看圆球便成了一只叼着果子的毛毛虫，有趣极了。

还有光芒四射的流星火雨;飞流直下的银色烟瀑，缓缓升空的小型火箭，各式各样的烟花数不胜数，被我们一一尽收眼底。

夜色渐深，人群随着烟花的散尽而离去。只是那绚丽的图画，永远留在人们心里。
