结束段使读者清楚地了解，英语毕业论文的全部论据已经叙述完毕，论文结束了。一篇组织得当的论文，会很符合逻辑地、自然而然 地告终。如果作者发现他不得不使用“in conclusion”或者“to sum up”之类的词语，这实际上说明论文的结尾是软弱无力的。当然也可以将导言段重新措辞作为结尾，这总比没有结尾强。而检验一个结束段是否恰当的标准是很简单的：假如一个结束段恰好就在一页纸的底部，读者是不是还打算翻过一页，继续往下找什么。若读者无此打算，那么，这个结尾就是强有力的，因为它给读者一种结束感。学生必须记住，结尾是他给读者留下的最后的印象。
