So she gets four children in all. She gives us every comfort. We all love her and she loves us also. My mother has too much to do in bringing us up. As our family is too poor to keep a servant, my mother has always to do very much work. She gets up very early and sleeps very late every day. She works hard, yet without complaining. She is also a thrifty, and industrious woman. She saves every cent that she can and keeps everything in order. As she has been busy eversince she was young, she looks older than she really is. Her face is wrinkled, her hair becomes silver white, but she works as hard as ever. Often she says to us, "work while you work, play while you play. If you do not work, you will become lazy and of no use to society." What piece of good advice this is! We must worth it well and always keep it in our mind.

我是东北人，初来南京，最不喜欢的就是南方的冬天。总觉得没有我的家乡的冬天那么有滋有味。

这冬若是在北方，那可就别具风味了。

说起我的家乡的冬天，那就不能不提起那满眼的冰雪。那冰雪给我们一种特殊的满足感——是的，没有雪，那还能叫冬天吗？当雪精灵飘然而至时，她们如羽毛般漫天飞舞，落在树上，房屋上，菜地上，河流上，更落在每个东北人的心上：又一个冬天来了！不到一顿饭的工夫。地上就积了一层。这时，孩子们就会欢叫着，冲出家门，跳跃奔跑在雪地里，似乎这美丽的冬天就是属于我们这些孩子的。小时侯，我总是和小伙伴一起堆雪人，打雪仗，那时力气小，堆一天也还是一堆雪，可我们仍会在雪里疯玩一天。渐渐长大了，有时我会静静地坐在窗台边，默默地看着雪簌簌地下着，看着雪慢慢地将山川大地装点成银色；有时也会走出屋子，仰起头感受雪花落在脸上的那种凉沁沁的感觉，伸出双手去接着那晶莹透剔的雪花，看着她在我手心慢慢融化。我的家乡的雪啊，那才叫够味！

说起我的家乡的冬天，还不能不提起那酸菜猪肉汤。取来酸菜，搞一点肥猪肉（那瘦肉我们是不要的，肥肉也不吃，只是借味），放一点调料，一锅北方最有特色的菜就做好了。若是从前，就是一家人围坐在火炕上，喝着热气腾腾，香气扑鼻的酸菜汤，那才叫舒坦。现在哪，如果是在老家，我想我们一家在这个冬天，一定是坐在温暖如春的屋子里，吃着妈妈做的酸菜汤，看着窗外美丽的雪景，聊着我们喜爱的话题呢！

可这南方的冬天，一没雪，二没那酸菜汤，再加上屋里又不供暖，坐在屋里瑟瑟发抖。

这样一想，我更怀念我的我的家乡了，还有那让我魂牵梦绕的冬天了！
