My hometown used to be a backwardplace, because it was deep in the mountains, where there were no nice buildingsand the roads were so narrow and dirty. People lived a poor life.

While in recent years, with thedevelopment of society, my hometown has been greatly changed. Now the roads aregetting much wider. There are many different cars and buses running on theroads. In my opinion, the schoolwork now being assigned to high school students is too heavy. while it is true that students need to study, they need other things as well if they are to grow into healthy and well-rounded adults. high should be allowed more time for play. plying is not wasting time, as some think. it gives them physical exercise, and also exercise their imagination. which tends to be stifled by too much study.

Finally, the pressure put on high school students by excessive schoolwork can cause serious stress, which is unhealthy physically and mentally. i do not advocate the elimination of schoolwork. i do think, however, that a reduction of the current heavy load would be beneficial to students and to the society as a whole.

ChengDu is a wonderful place located in Sichuan province.This city is well

decorated and designed which attrects lots of tourists every year.

Chengdu has large amounts of tourist spots such as Wangjiang Park,Dujiang

Dam and so on.Such spots are all easy to get and they dont cost much.Whatmore

I am sorry to trouble you, but nobody would come into my mind to help me except you.

You know, I had planned this holiday for several years. A t last, my dream came true. You could imagine how excited I was. My mind was completely occupied with the holiday. I forgot to collect my laundry. I dont know if you can help me collect my laundry. I sent the laundry to the Johns. It is the one down the corner on St. Peters Street. You cant miss it, because the house is painted green-a big green house. I have got two pairs of trousers, three shirts, one T-shirt and a blanket. Call a taxi to send you home. I will pay you back when I am home.

My first stop is London. It is raining. The streets are very clean. How I wish I could have the chance to see the famous London fog. But someone told me that was already the history. One can only read things like that about London in books.

The Advantages of Doing Physical Exercises

As the proverb goes, “no one knows the value of health until he loses it.”

From this, we know

that health is very important to everybody. But how to keep fit? Many

people believe that sports can offer people health and pleasure. As far as I

concern, I think doing physical exercises have lots of advantages.

There are many arguments about the advantages and disadvantages of examinations. Some people think that examinations can help them review the lessons regularly, while others maintain that too many examinations have frustrated them.

To me, I think an examination is a good thing for both teachers and students. Teachers can find out how much the students have grasped and then improve their teaching; students, on the other hand, will learn what their weak points are and then study even harder.

All in all, we should not waste time arguing whether examinations are good or not. What we should do is to try to improve the exam system and try to adjust it to our different requirements.

望着这一池子的荷，仿佛置身于荷的怀抱，空气里淡淡的馨香，却让我有点醉了。今夜的荷给我如此大的感受，是我意想不到的。周敦颐笔下的荷，是出淤泥而不染，濯清涟而不妖;杨万里眼里的荷，是接天莲叶无穷碧，映日荷花别样红。我心里的荷，是干净的，是馨香的，是可以洗涤心中的尘杂的。

How I Spent My Summer Vacation

I spent this summer vacation in quite a different way.

I used to run about every day in previous summer vacations,this summer vacation I simply could not afford to do so.

I would soon be in the last year of my high-school education would after graduation be up against the college entrance examinations.

Though those examinations were still a year away, I had to start early to make myself well prepared by reviewing all those things I had learned at school this summer vacation was the ideal time for me to do this.

At first I was rather dismayed at the thought of this,8ttt8.

comlater I thought it was better this way because by working hard this summer I could count on endless happy summers to come.

With this in mind I then set to work like anything and occasionally went out for a change or did some physical.

I was not at all bored by this kind of life, for I was sustained by a hope.

Table tennis is one of the most popular sports in China. It’s my favorite,

too. It’s a good way of exercise, and it’s easy to play. You don’t need many

skills. I often play table tennis after class. Most of my classmates like it. So

we always have partners. But if you want to play well, it’s not so easy. You

must focus on your gesture, your hands and your steps. I want to be better, so I

practice it very often. I have my own teacher to teach me. I work hard on

it.

My father is a man of devotion. Every morning he gets up the earliest to make breakfast for us. In the evening, he is always the late to come back home. At weekends, he always takes us to go outing in his car. He is a man of few words, but he often says to me "A little learning is a dangerous thing". I will always remember these words.

I love my father very much.

家乡的变化我的家乡在宁夏青铜峡市小坝。自从新中国成立60年以来，特别是改革开放后的30年里，这里发生了翻天覆地的变化。伯父告诉我，过去人们极少买衣服，大都是女主人在煤油灯下，一针一线缝补出来的。无论是大人，还是小孩，不少人穿着补丁衣服。兄弟姊妹多了，弟弟接穿哥哥的衣服，妹妹接穿姐姐的衣服。这就是当年所说的：新三年，旧三年，缝缝补补又三年。只有过大年时，才会穿上几天新衣服。当年，由于科技不发达，亩产很低。一亩地生产小麦二三百斤，水稻三四百斤。城市户口按年龄、工种定量供应，成人月均也不会超过15公斤；农民每人每年超不过150公斤。

有限的土地绝多数用来种粮食，很少种菜。蔬菜品种也就是土豆、萝卜、白菜和莲花菜当家。家家都有好几口大缸，秋天用来淹酸菜和咸菜，从秋天一直吃到初夏。吃的窝窝头用豆腐渣或黑面制做，白面馒头难得吃到。肉就更不用说了，也就是过年时，一大家人才能吃上几斤肉。小孩的压岁钱，也只有几角。许多家庭甚至不给小孩压岁钱。无论是城镇，还是农村，住宅大都是土木结构，砖瓦房极少。家具极少极简陋。家乡的路大多都是土石路，弯弯曲曲，坑坑洼洼。行者晴天一身灰，雨天两脚泥。那时候，买轿车，连做梦都不敢想，有一辆自行车就够不错了。
