The Metamorphosis, written in 1912, is one of Kafka’s masterpieces. It talks about Gregor Samsa. One morning, when he woke up, he found himself transformed into a gigantic insect. I read the Chinese version of “Camille” a few years ago. At that time I was deeply moved by the main character Marguerite Gautier. “Camille” or “The Lady of the Camellias” by Alexandre Dumas, fils, is the story of Marguerite Gautier, a young courtesan, or kept woman, in Paris in the mid 1800s, and how she falls in love with a young man, Armand Duval, and then tries to escape from her questionable past. She felt used, abused and unloved, until the gentle Armand Duval came into her life and showed her that he loved her as a person and not for what she could do for him. It must have taken great courage for Marguerite to leave the life she had lived for so long, knowing all along that it was probably too good to be true and would not last indefinitely. And it also showed that Marguerite really loved Armand Duval for she could even change herself for him.

However, happiness didn’t last for long. When M. Duval, Armands father, came to her, pleading for her to leave Armand to save both Armands reputation and that of his younger innocent sister, Marguerite saw a way to become pure of heart, if not in body. She felt that it was her duty, because she loved Armand so much, to do this even though it meant giving up her own happiness and hurting Armand temporarily. She reluctantly returned to her former life, knowing that some day Armand would forgive her. Sadly, she died in debt and basically alone, except for her one female friend, Julie Duprat, who helped her during her illness. She had her journal sent to Armand after her death, explaining why she had made the choices she had. I think Dumass last few lines about Marguerite being the exception, not the rule were quite true, and I also agreed with his view that while her lifestyle could not be condoned, we as a society assume that all of these type of women are cold and heartless, while this may not always be the case. A person can make the wrong choices in life when they are young, and try to redeem themselves, but sometimes past situations prevent them from changing their lives, even though they desperately wish to do so. Every time I read The Little Prince, I am moved by the prince’s attitude toward the world. It is his attitude that brings my sincerity and innocence back. Because of the story of the little prince, I have learnt to live a peaceful life with hope, gentleness, touching, and responsibility about tameness in my heart.

书籍是一滴滴海水，将我们引入知识的海洋。书籍是一把把蔬菜，给我们补上知识的营养。书籍是一盏盏明灯，让我们攀登科峰。在这个暑假，我读了许多书，但是最让我记忆犹新的是法国的安托万·德·圣埃克苏佩里写的《小王子》。

小王子长得很低。他住在一个小得只能撑下几个人的星球上。那里什么都是小的，两个像小丘的火山，一朵娇嫩的玫瑰花。因为那里太小了，所以小王子每天都要早起清理可能长出来的猴面包树苗，如果不这样做的话，只需要三棵小树，就会把这个星球粉身碎骨。小王子只需要挪动挪动椅子，就能欣赏到日出或日落。临走前，小王子把星球上的一切都整理得井井有条，还给心爱的玫瑰花罩上了一个玻璃罩。

接下来，小王子就开始了他的旅行。专横跋扈的国王、爱慕虚荣的怪人、醉醺醺的酒鬼、满眼金钱的商人、忠于职守的点灯人、不把花儿放在眼里的地理学家。最后，他来到了地球。

小王子经过长途跋涉，穿过沙漠，越过山峰，走过雪地，终于看到了一条大路。这是一座玫瑰盛开的花园，那里的玫瑰个个都是娇滴滴的，香气扑鼻。小王子有些沮丧了，他以为世界上的玫瑰花只有一朵。

在地球，他还认识了一只狐狸，那只狐狸说：“驯化我吧。”，小王子不明白什么是“驯化”，狐狸说：“他的意思是建立关系。”小王子半知半解，联想到了他的玫瑰花，说：

“一定是玫瑰花驯化了我。”时间转瞬即逝，转眼小王子已经在地球待了整整一年，马上就要走了。他像一颗树似的慢慢倒下，倒在沙地上，没有一点声音。

小王子曾经说过，沙漠美丽，是因为沙漠的某处隐藏着一口井。饥渴交迫的人，终究会在沙漠里找到水井，生锈的轱辘发出的声音就象叮咚的泉水声一样悦耳，由于有了井，沙漠的美丽光芒才更神秘，更震撼人心。

读了这本书我明白了一个许多大人都不知道的道理：本质的东西是用眼睛看不到的，只有用心才能看得清楚。
