老神父的善良,使贫儿不至于一无知识;

母亲的善良,使贫儿不至于饿死;

王子的善良,使贫儿过上了好日子;

迈尔斯的善良、奋不顾身,使王子摆脱危险;

Recently, I read the attempt to write a novel: "root bird". I read a book, suddenly suspicious: root bird is a name, or a bird? I dont understand and cant wait mood, open the book...

Ah! I found the answer: a bird is a boy, his home in chrysanthemum slope. One day he was out hunting alone, accidentally shot by a white eagle. White eagle leg have a piece of paper, it read: "my name is purple smoke, when I was in flowers fell into the valley, come and save me!" That night, the root bird nook near the valley with his father after nothing, duty-bound to root bird on the road to the west to find purple smoke. On the way, root bird met board Mr Kim. Board Mr Kims family got a super surprise, all the family man, at the age of 18, then suddenly cant dream. Mr Kim to follow a dream, walk to the west. Sheet metal and root birds are all in order to reach own purpose, continuous efforts, even if, on wheels, so be it.

Board Mr Kim arrived at warbler shop, his life is about to come to an end. His deathbed, he told the root bird: to walk to the west, to persevere, be sure to find the grand canyon. Root bird has experienced all sorts of difficulties, these difficulties. Finally, he arrived at the full of the grand canyon of the lilies, see white eagle flying in the air...

Root bird is a boy who dared to pursue their dreams! After reading this book, let me know the person on the way to pursue your dream, will encounter various difficulties, frustration, confusion, but must not give up. Like root birds, although the money lost, but he still go forward; Although being hired, he was still trying to come up with various way; Despite his illness had a high fever, but he still wont stop down, clinging to go forward!

In fact, persistence is a kind of power, but also the steps of success and victory! I think it is the same and we are learning, no matter how far from ideal, as long as our goal towards their own unremitting efforts, is likely to get the final success.

If parents are wrong we shall try first of all to make them alter their ideas and if we don’t succeed we shall stick to our own opinions and judgement. And in the book she wrote and thought much of the time about things which very sensitive. For example she described a lot about the affair with Peter. It’s normal for a teenager. After I read "the destruction of the old Summer Palace", I think the robbers very hateful!

In 1860, British and French troops robbed the old Summer Palace treasures, later gave burning yuanmingyuan. Later came to rob the eight yuanmingyuan artefacts. This proves that the qing dynasty backward and corruption. Only man can have a good life in the palace in qing dynasty, the beggar day all the people will come in.

When the bad guys to the emperor ran, garden soldiers had to keep watching cultural relics were robbed. Many people committed suicide. Delays are dangerous, so, we want to be strong. Only in this way will not be bullied.

We cant forget about the old Summer Palace, yuanmingyuan many treasures were lost to overseas, spent tens of millions of Chinese people bought things looted, let us make more think more angry, it also suggests that weaker underdeveloped countries at that time, will in this way, if the country strong we will not be bullied, also wont spend money to buy back their own stuff.

Now the old Summer Palace was the invaders to its former glory, thought of these I felt so angry and infinite regret.

"In order to property, money and position and the marriage is wrong; the marriage does not consider the above factors also stupid." This sentence can come to this book.

One distinctive characters in "her" lifelike; Clever sensible Elizabeth, sincerity, persistence, darcy, gentle tolerant Jane, frivolous superficial Lydia, no mind, Mrs Bennett relatively ineffective Mr Bennett, selfish snobbish miss bingley, mighty lady Catherine, boring Collins, and so on. Among them, admirable, sympathetic, or a smile. In addition, the dialogue between the characters in the novel is also a feature of the novel. Elizabeth witty words, Mr Bennett its sarcasm to him, for the khans rhetoric, Collins rap wording, which make readers view. Do you know of who "she" is? "She" is the author -- Jane Austen.

The book was welcomed by generations of readers, and love. "Pride and prejudice", published in 1813, a love story is novel, the novel of the communist party of China involves four marriage, but each have each characteristic.

In a word, no matter from content and Austins novel narrative techniques, "pride and prejudice" is a classic.

On Sister Carrie Carrie was such an ordinary rural girl at the beginning of the story. Sitting on the seat of a bus she couldn’t help feeling exciting at the sight of the metropolis’ spectacle. She was impressed deeply by large crowd on the avenue the spacious square or tall buildings. Far more different from other heroines Carrie was not a plain pure angel like Snow-white nor was she brave enough to be a heroine of revolutionist or even a reformer nor was she so clever as to be a successful career woman who start from scratch.

What attracted her most after her entering this huge metropolis was the incredible fineries fashion shoes smart handbags displaying in the shop windows the jewellerys shining brightly behind the glass. She dreamed that one day she could wear all of these jogging gracefully into the most luxurious hotel with focused sights of admiration. And this was not merely a dream. Because she had large eyes which can earn others’ sympathy even love. She had wonderful figure which can win others’ hearts. However anything she got anywhere she reached had not come from her ambition.

Things happened and then she accepted. That’s what she had just done ? just to accept willingly from the bottom of her heart. She was not at all an evil woman who would give anything for the fortune or fame. However she would give uo something for a better life when her instinct defeated her intellect.

That was Carrie a girl had her own desire a human being just like many others in the realistic world. There’s one sentence written in chapter VIII:” When this jangle of free-will instinct shall have been adjusted when perfect understanding has given the former the power to replace the latter entirely man will no longer vary.” However how many people can go that further.

One of the most interesting questions about gullivers travels is whether the houyhnhnms represent an ideal of rationality or whether on the other hand they are the butt of swifts satire. in other words, in book iv,is swift poking fun at the talking horses or does he intend for us to take them seriously as the proper way to act? If we look closely at the way that the houyhnhnms act,we can see that in fact swift does not take them seriously:he uses them to show the dangers of pride.

First we have to see that swift does not even take gullver seriously. for instance, his name sounds much like gullible, which suggests that he will believe anything. also, when he first sees the yahoos and they throw excrement on him,he responds by doing the same in return until they run away.He says, “I must needs discover some more rational being,” even though as a human he is already the most rational being there is. This is why swift refers to erasmus darwins discovery of the origin of the species and the voyage of the beagle to show how gulliver knows that people are at the top of the food chain. But if lemule gulliver is satirized,so are the houyhnhnms, whose voices sound like the call of castrati.

They walk on two legs instead of four, and seem to be much like people. As gulliver says, “it was with the utmost astonishment that I witnessed these creatures playing the flute and dancing a vienese waltz. To my mind, they seemed like the greatest humans ever seen in court, even more dextrous than the lord edmund burke.”As this quote demonstrates, gulliver is terribly impressed, but his admiration for the houyhnhnms is short lived because they are so prideful. For instance, the leader of the houyhnhnms claims that he has read all the works of charles dickens, and that he can singlehandedly recite the names of all the kings and queens of england up to george ii.Swift subtly shows that this houyhnhnms pride is misplaced when,in the middle of the intellectual competition,he forgets the name of queen elizabeths husband.

Swifts satire of the houyhnhnms comes out in other ways as well. One of the most memorable scenes is when the dapple grey mare attempts to woo the horse that guenivre has brought with him to the island. first she acts flirtatiously, parading around the bewildered horse. But when this does not have the desired effect, she gets another idea: “as I watched in amazement from my perch in the top of a tree, the sorrel nag dashed off and returned with a yahoo on her back who was yet more monstrous than mr.Pope being fitted by a clothier. She dropped this creature before my nag as if offering up a sacrifice. My horse sniffed the creature and turned away.”

It might seem that we should take this scene seriously as a failed attempt at courtship, and that consequently we should see the grey mare as an unrequited lover. But it makes more sense if we see that swift is being satiric here:It is the female houyhnhnm who makes the move, which would not have happened in eighteenth century england. the houyhnhm is being prideful, and it is that pride that makes him unable to impress gullivers horse. gulliver imagines the horse saying, sblood, the notion of creating the bare backed beast with an animal who had held mr.Pope on her back makes me queezy.

A final indication that the houyhnmns are not meant to be taken seriously occurs when the leader of the houynhms visits lilliput, where he visits the french royal society. He goes into a room in which a scientist is trying to turn wine into water (itself a prideful act that refers to the marriage at gallilee).

The scientist has been working hard at the experiment for many years without success, when the houyhnmn arrives and immediately knows that to do: “the creature no sooner stepped through the doorway than he struck upon a plan. slurping up all the wine in sight, he quickly made water in a bucket that sat near the door.”

He has accomplished the scientists goal, but the scientist is not happy, for his livelihood has now been destroyed.Swifts clear implication is that even though the houyhnhmns are smart, they do not know how to use that knowledge for the benefit of society, only for their own prideful agrandizement.

Throughout gullivers travels, the houyhnhms are shown to be an ideal gone wrong.Though their intent might have been good, they dont know how to do what they want to do because they are filled with pride. They mislead gulliver and they even mislead themselves. The satire on them is particularly well explained by the new born houyhnhm who, having just been born, exclaims,“with this sort of entrance, what must I expect from the rest of my life!”

According to most analyses, The Catcher in the Rye is a bildungsroman, a novel about a young character’s growth into maturity. While it is appropriate to discuss the novel in such terms, Holden Caulfield is an unusual protagonist for a bildungsroman because his central goal is to resist the process of maturity itself. As his thoughts about the Museum of Natural History demonstrate, Holden fears change and is overwhelmed by complexity. He wants everything to be easily understandable and eternally fixed, like the statues of Eskimos and Indians in the museum. He is frightened because he is guilty of the sins he criticizes in others, and because he can’t understand everything around him. But he refuses to acknowledge this fear, expressing it only in a few instances—for example, when he talks about sex and admits that “[s]ex is something I just don’t understand. I swear to God I don’t” (Chapter 9).

Instead of acknowledging that adulthood scares and mystifies him, Holden invents a fantasy that adulthood is a world of superficiality and hypocrisy (“phoniness”), while childhood is a world of innocence, curiosity, and honesty. Nothing reveals his image of these two worlds better than his fantasy about the catcher in the rye: he imagines childhood as an idyllic field of rye in which children romp and play; adulthood, for the children of this world, is equivalent to death—a fatal fall over the edge of a cliff. His created understandings of childhood and adulthood allow Holden to cut himself off from the world by covering himself with a protective armor of cynicism. But as the book progresses, Holden’s experiences, particularly his encounters with Mr. Antolini and Phoebe, reveal the shallowness of his conceptions.

Guy de Maupassant(18501893), one of the greatest critical realist writers in the world, is considered as one of three kings of world short story。 Maupassant created six novels and 359 medium forms during his brief lifetime, engendering a momentous effect on the later literature. And it’s his maiden work, Suet Ball that won him world-wide prestige.

In1870, with the outbreak of the Franco-Prussian War, the real-based story Suet Ball happened. The heroine of the story is a humble harlot called Suet Ball. With a group of French residents of Rouen, recently occupied by the Prussian army, the 11 travelers are on their way fleeing to Le Havre in a stagecoach. In virtue of the appalling weather, the stagecoach moves rather slowly and has just covered a few miles by midday. Initially, those occupants snub Suet Ball whereas their attitudes alters with the emergence of a basket filled with scrumptious food and she caters for those hungry travelers selflessly.

The carriage doesn’t stop until they blunders into a Prussian-held territory called T?tes. A Prussian officer detains the coach with no definite reasons. In the next two days, the occupants wait with barely concealed impatience and eventually Suet Ball tells that they will be detained perpetually unless she approves of sleeping with the officer. Out of her patriotism, Suet Ball gives him a point-blank refusal. As it should be, those travelers behave furiously to the officer"s arrogance while during the next two days, they exemplify logic and morality in diverse ways to convince Suet Ball of its validity. What a kind-hearted girl! Finally Suet Ball gives up and sacrifices her body for everyone’s freedom.

The next morning, they are permitted to leave. But those "representatives of Virtue" totally neglect Suet Ball, casting scathing sights on the poor young woman while even disdaining talking to her and rejecting sharing their food with her in the same way that she did at the beginning. From their perspectives, Suet Ball turns out to be no more utilizable and should be condemned for her ashamed conduct. As the stagecoach travels deeper into the night, she seethes with rage against those hypocrites, and ultimately weeps for her lost dignity.

In this story, Maupassant highlighted the intense comparison between Suet Ball and the so-called nobles. Rapacity, hypocrisy, sexuality and nobility intertwine in the spotlight, eulogizing the underclass’ patriotism and lampooning the sham of the aristocracy. Maupassant portrays the inhabitants of the stagecoach in varied disparaging ways. The most luminous character belongs to the two nuns. At first they are portrayed as tranquil and subservient to Lord and demonstrate their fiery patriotic desire to dedicate to their motherland rather than a sordid intention like the other passengers: the nuns profess to haste to a military hospital to heal the wounded French soldiers, hence presenting the argument towards instigating Suet Ball to abandon her resistance. How absurd it is! Nuns are supposed to take strait vows and treat others benevolently. They fill Suet Ball"s head with arguments, arguing that it is not morally wrong to sleep with the officer in order to let the travelers leave, and that the longer she waits, the more young French soldiers will die as the nuns are not there to look after them. Superficially, they claim that it is for the good of the country but indeed they’re just taking advantage of her. Suet Ball"s resistance to the officer"s sexual advances again indicate her patriotism. Cruel wars have stripped all the external stuffs. In contrast to all of these is Suet Ball, a prostitute, revealed to be the most fiercely patriotic, virtuous, and morally admirable character, which Maupassant contrasts with the hypocrisy and snobbery of the others.

It is arguably Maupassant’s most famous short story. The carriage constitutes a microcosm of French society as a whole. And the narrative techniques of this story are rather sophisticated and carefully conceived. On balance, a real noble person like Suet Ball can’t be judged by the appearance or the occupation, his/ her moral quality will glitter when confronting the real ordeal. Consequently, I deem that Suet Ball is worth reading lingeringly, savoring every word.

filetype after reading the little prince over the course of this semester,i read a moving book:the little prince.it impressed me a lot, especially, the pure but deep emotion(love) between the characters such as the pilot and the little prince, the rose and the little prince, the fox and the little prince.the book remind me of the pure and nice emotion only found in childhood. what impresses me the most is the fox’s words.love is a strange stuff.sometimes we see it but can’t grasp it.yet, true love may be, to some extent, invisible in surface but may last permanent.apart from love, others as well.indeed, sometimes what we consider right turn out to be wrong, what we consider real proves fictitious, what we confused may just turn out to be the truth.the path in searching for truth may long and time-consuming,we should harbour conviction, strong will and high hope.no matter what barriade in front of us,we ought to be couragous and face up to the challenge.
