to drive away evil spirits and help children celebrate the new year safely. I

wish the children good health, good luck and peace in the new year. There is

also an old legend. This legend has something to do with a little demon called

The majority Han Chinese have long followed the tradition of eating laba

rice porridge on the eighth day of the twelfth lunar month. The date usually

falls in min-January and is a traditional Chinese festival.

Legend about the origin of this festivity abounds One maintains that over

3，000 years ago sacrificial rites were held in the twelfth lunar month when

people offered up their prey to the gods of heaven and earth. The Chinese

characters for the hunt and the twelfth month (lie and la) were interchangeable

then， and ever since la has been used to refer to both. Since the festival was

held on the eighth day of the last month， people later appended the number

eighth (ba in Chinese)， giving us the current laba.

I have many friends in my class.There are 45 students in my classroom. they

are interesting and lovely. I would like to introduce some of them.

Hellen is very cute. shes also kind to everyone and shes very

enthusiastic.Shes always ready to help everyone， but she is forgetful. She

always forgets to bring her school things， such as pens， ruler，textbooks and so

on. But our teachers always forgive her. Robert is the most talkative boy in our

class. His nickname is "chatterbox". He has a great sense of humor and he always

Im just writing to let you know that were all well, and I hope you are, too. Unfortunately, Ive got some rather bad news for you: Im afraid I made a bit of a mess of Johns car. Anyway, heres what happened.

We were on our way to Carols after a long party, and I suppose it must have been about eleven o’clock. Well, the last few miles back home were really dark and deserted. I now realize I was probably going a bit too fast for a country lane because, although the road was fairly straight, I drove up onto the curb and went into a tree.

Of course, John was absolutely furious and started shouting at me and cursing. After we d argued for a few moments, we decided to look at the damage, and he calmed down a bit. Well, we found we could move the car, but the wing was caught on the wheel, so we couldnt drive it. I tried to pull the wing clear, but I didnt succeed.

Anyway, John went off to phone for a breakdown lorry, but while he was away, I had another go at the wing and this time succeeded in pulling it right off. I threw it onto the back seat, and by that time John got back and we were ready to go?so we didnt need the breakdown lorry at all. John has more or less forgiven me now, but he was very angry with me for a few days. I suppose I was a bit careless.

In January

On the top of the mountain hill lived a little boy called Marlin. He was a

jolly fellow that helped people when they were in need.

The only problem was, whenever there was somebody in need, he would give

went on helping and helping and helping… nobody knew when he was going to stop,

At last, Marlin had got enough money; he was so excited that he hopped here

and there ten times! Finally, he went to the store near Sunshine school, and

bought the music box, and then handed it to the same boy at his home. Marlin

soon became famous, and he was called, ‘Marlin Blavatsky.’

I always imagine how nice if I can fly, I am so free, I can fly to the

place I want to go to. If I have the wing, I will fly to my hometown and see its

beautiful scenery, the trees must be so green and the water must be so clean. I

My mother always says that I am a naughty girl. When I go out with her, I

always make some mistakes. Such as annoying others when they are talking, which

is very impolite. My mother doesnt punish me, instead, she tries to disturb me

For some reasons, I never get up before nine oclock on Saturdays.

Everybody knows that people often wrote stories for fun, but this story

tells how a little boy hates writing stories, but he then learned a valuable

lesson on a dangerous adventure.

Once, there was a boy called Moni, Moni was a very cute little boy, and was

always proud to show off at some time. Moni’s mother loved baking pies, but she

always scolded Moni for eating them without her permission.

One day his mother said that he was old enough to write stories. Moni had
