不可救药

周朝有位卿士叫凡伯。凡伯不但有诗才，而且善于治理国事。后来，他在周厉王身边辅佐朝政。可是，周厉王飞横跋扈，枉法断事。奸臣则百般诌媚讨好。凡伯直言相劝，列数朝政弊端，奸臣却在周厉王耳边说他的坏话。周厉王对凡伯十分厌烦，从此，奸臣出入宫廷，不把凡伯放在眼里。凡伯十分愤慨，写了一首诗，后来收入《诗经》。诗中抨击奸臣说：“作恶多端，不可救药！”

“不可救药”：病重到不能用药救活。后比喻事物坏到无法挽救的地步。

杞人忧天

从前在杞国，有一个胆子很小，而且有点神经质的人，他常会想到一些奇怪的问题，而让人觉得莫名其妙。有一天，他吃过晚饭以后，拿了一把大蒲扇，坐在门前程量，并且自言自语的说：“假如有一天，天塌了下来，那该怎么办呢？我们岂不是无路可逃，而将活活地被压死，这不就太冤枉了吗？”

从此以后，他几乎每天为这个问题发愁、烦恼，朋友见他终日精神恍惚，脸色憔悴，都很替他担心，但是，当大家知道原因后，都跑来劝他说：“老兄啊！你何必为这件事自寻烦恼呢？天空怎么会塌下来呢？在说即使真的塌下来，那也不是你一个人忧虑发愁就可以解决的啊，想开点吧！”

可是，无论人家怎么说，他都不相信，仍然时常为这个不必要的问题担忧。后来的人就根据上面这个故事，引伸成“杞人忧天”这句成语，它的主要意义在唤醒人们不要为一些不切实际的事情而忧愁。它与“庸人自扰”的意义大致相同。

汉武帝在位的时候，大将军霍光是朝廷举足轻重的大臣，深得武帝信任。武帝监死前，把幼子刘弗陵（昭帝）托付给霍光辅佐。昭帝去世后，霍光立刘询做皇帝（宣帝）。霍光掌握朝政大权四十多年，为西汉王朝立下了不小的功勋。刘询继承皇位以后，立许妃做皇后。霍光的妻子霍显是个贪图富贵的女人，她想把自己的小女儿成君嫁给刘询做皇后，就乘许娘娘有病的机会，买通女医下毒害死了许后。毒计败露，女医下狱。此事霍光事先一点也不知道，等事情出来了，霍显才告诉他。霍光非常惊惧，指责妻子不该办这种事情。他也想去告发，但又不忍心妻子被治罪，前思后想，还是把这件伤天害理的事情隐瞒下来了。霍光死后，有人向宣帝告发此案，宣帝派人去调查处理。霍光的妻子听说了，与家人、亲信商量对策，决定召集族人策划谋反，不想走漏了风声，宣帝派兵将霍家包围，满门抄斩。东汉史学家班固在《汉书霍光传》中评论霍光的功过，说他“不学无术，暗于大理”，意思是霍光不读书，没学识，因而不明关乎大局的道理。

成语“不学无术”，指没有学问，没有本领

南朝谢灵运，是一位写了大量山水诗的文学家。他聪明好学，读过许多书，从小受到祖父谢玄的厚爱。他出身于东晋大士族，因他袭封康乐公的爵位，世人称他“谢康乐”。他身为公侯，却并无实权，被派往永嘉任太守。谢灵运自叹怀才不遇，常常丢下公务不管，却去游山玩水。后来，他辞官移居会稽，常常与友人酗酒作乐。当地太守派人劝他节制一些，却被他怒斥了一顿。可是，谢灵运写的山水诗，却深受人们的喜爱。他每写出一首新诗，立刻就会被人争相抄录，很快流传开去。宋文帝接位后，将他召回京城做官，把他的诗作和书法赞为“两宝”。谢灵运更加骄傲了，他说：“天下才有一石，曹子建独占八斗，我得一斗，天下共分一斗。”

When I told the news to Peter Li, James Wang and Nancy Zhang, the girl who always wears a long hair, and went to Beijing with us last year, they all wish you to send us some pictures of your new house. We hope that when we go on errand in America next year, we can pay a visit to your family. Then we are sure to have a nice gathering.

Dear Tom,

Im just writing to let you know that were all well, and I hope you are, too. Unfortunately, Ive got some rather bad news for you: Im afraid I made a bit of a mess of Johns car. Anyway, heres what happened.

We were on our way to Carols after a long party, and I suppose it must have been about eleven o’clock. Well, the last few miles back home were really dark and deserted. I now realize I was probably going a bit too fast for a country lane because, although the road was fairly straight, I drove up onto the curb and went into a tree.

Of course, John was absolutely furious and started shouting at me and cursing. After we d argued for a few moments, we decided to look at the damage, and he calmed down a bit. Well, we found we could move the car, but the wing was caught on the wheel, so we couldnt drive it. I tried to pull the wing clear, but I didnt succeed.

Anyway, John went off to phone for a breakdown lorry, but while he was away, I had another go at the wing and this time succeeded in pulling it right off. I threw it onto the back seat, and by that time John got back and we were ready to go?so we didnt need the breakdown lorry at all. John has more or less forgiven me now, but he was very angry with me for a few days. I suppose I was a bit careless.

Well, thats all for now. Next time I write I hope Ill have better news for you.

又想起来，每次家里来了客人，父母都教我如何打招呼，他们也是热情招待;爷爷奶奶来了，妈妈总是做一大桌子好吃的，而且吃的菜总是在爷爷奶奶面前，螃蟹也是给他们的，而妈妈只是吃最小的。现在想想，这就不就是我们的家风之一：尊老爱糼，礼让待客，谦和做人吗?

这样想起来，我仿佛记起了很多，我们全家人有时候在一起讨论一下历史，共同看一站到底，并抢答题，最后看谁对了;看大脑，讨论那些神奇的记忆。

我从来听不到父母讲邻里是非，也从不争亲朋得失。他们只是认真做事，认真做人。这也是我的家风之一：做有益的事，做坦荡君子，不做戚戚小人。

我想：我的家风，不正是中华民族数千年的美德吗：厚德载物，认真做事，中庸做人。

只有民族的，才是世界的。我也要说：小家塑造大家，大家塑造国家，国家影响世界!

纵观中华五千年历史，中国早以礼仪之邦闻名于世界。孔子提倡：仁者爱人，以仁爱之心去尊重人、理解人、关心人、爱护人、帮助人的思想，是社会和谐的重要因素。

而国家与国家之间也如此，有的国家总是以老大自居，总是希望别国乱起来，自己坐收渔利。总是不能以仁爱的心态对待别人，今天挑点事端，明天做点手脚。这不正是中国人嗤之以鼻的小人行径吗?

呼吁大家都从现在做起吧，用我们民族的精神去影响世界，让世界早日仁爱起来吧!

春节大扫除

Tomorrow is New Years Day, my family have had a completely cleaning for

two days. Then my father and I decorated our flat and my mother cooked delicious

food for our meal. After supper we watched TV program. How happy we were!

明天是春节，我家里以近在两天前做了彻底的大扫除。然后我和爸爸一起装饰家里，妈妈则在烧好吃的东西。晚饭以后，我们一起看电视节目，我们多高兴呀!
