We will never forget our freshman year at college. In general it is a time filled with anticipation, some anxiety, and wonderful discoveries.

College is much different than high school. You may decide to commute from your home to a local campus. Without doubt, the most dramatic freshman year is for those living away from home. What can we expect as we head off into the wonderful world of higher education?

The first thing I notice is the workload. It is heavier and more intense than I ever experienced before. The major challenges of college work are large volume of reading, short deadlines, and “endless” writing. A related effect that can be brought on by the workload is doubt, frustration, and loneliness if possible.

On some of those long, seemingly endless nights of studying and writing, it will be very natural for me to long for fine old days. Hang in there. These down periods will pass.

I have made a lot of new friends. I am sure college friendships will be among the most satisfying and long-term in my life. Its always exciting to discover how wonderfully diverse college relationships can be.

I am enjoying my newfound freedom. Stay up until dawn talking about my ideals and ambitions with my dorms regular bull session buddies. Sleep in until the afternoon on a light class day. Explore the local town or suburbs with one or two of my new friends.

I even start to think about my future. Going to college is as much about finding out who am I as it is about getting the degree.

I’m a 20 year-ol d boy, and the following is my story.

A month after I graduated from high school in August, 2013, I was coming home from swim_practice in the training centre of the city and was involved in a car accident. I was so seriously injured that I was in a coma for more than two months at Prince Georges Hospital.

I suffered a lot from the experience of dying eight times during my coma and I couldn’t open my mouth to talk or to communicate when I eventually came around. At that time, it seemed that walking was never going to happen again due to all the extreme injuries. Just like my body, my dreams were completely destroyed. But I was not going to let my injuries stop me from realizing my dreams．

After receiving a total of 15 operations and 36 blood transfusions, I had to make every great effort to learn to talk, eat, walk, shower, and live on my own again. When I was out of hospital,_I still had to go to outpatient therapy in Waldorf, Maryland. After I spent a few months in a wheelchair,_I took baby steps to walk on my own. It was a miracle that

I was able to walk again, but I still wanted to prove that I could not only walk, but also run.

When it came true, I wanted to get back into the pool again. After having a few lung tests, I was able to go in the pool a little bit each week. After a few months of swim training,_I began my freshman year at St. Mary’s College of Maryland and then became a proud member of the swim team.

我们都知道白色污染会影响土壤、空气和生物，其危害非常大。比如，填埋废弃塑料制品的土地，会因为塑料不易分解而使得土地板结，不能生长庄稼和树木，而焚烧这类垃圾又会释放出许多种化学有毒气体，尤其是二恶英，毒性极大。今年6月1日全国开始的限塑令使得人们普遍认识到塑料袋的危害，而且因需付费购买，所以在使用的数量上将大大减少，从长远的角度看，这对环境的保护是有利的。

另外一个关系到环境保护的问题是汽车尾气污染。这种污染随着汽车数量的增多而日趋严重。经分析，汽车尾气中含有的大量有害气体如铅、一氧化碳、氧化氮等对人体的危害非常大。还因为汽车尾气一般在1.5米的高度以内最浓，所以儿童受到的危害最大——即铅中毒。吸入过多的铅会导致头晕、头痛、失眠、记忆力减退等问题，而儿童铅中毒智商会降低。所以为保护环境有的城市推行“公交日”，号召人们少用私家车多乘公交车，其实如果不是太远的路程，倒是应该提倡安步以当车，因为步行对身体非常有好处。

保护环境方面还包括节约能源问题。“节约能源，每个人都能在举手投足间做到。”比如，刷牙时不要让水一直在流淌，公共场合及时关闭水龙头，都是节水方面的好习惯;再比如随手关灯，空调温度调到适宜(夏天不过低，冬天不过高)，则是节电的好习惯。一个人是否节约，不在于他是否在乎水电费用高低，而关键在于自身意识的提高，所以光靠提高价格是不能解决什么问题的。主要是让所有的人都明白一个道理：我们决不能透支环境资源，要给下一代留下点儿。

保护环境当从我做起，从身边小事做起。我们每天都要扔垃圾，既不应提倡随手乱扔也要注意各种生活垃圾的分类处理：比如电池应扔入专门的回收箱，塑料、纸张、易拉罐等能回收的要卖给收破烂的(他们不光赚了钱，还保护了环境，功不可没!)。

综上所述，保护环境人人有责。我们应担当起责任，努力为自己为他人创造更美好的环境!
