Planting Trees植树

It was fine on March 12, 201x. I got up early that day. All the students in our school went to the hill to plant trees.

We arrived at the hill at eight oclock. The teacher asked each of us to plant at least six trees. Then we started digging, planting and watering. We all worked so hard that we could finish our tasks ahead of time. Among us,Wang Lin, our monitor set a good example for us. Though he was ill, he worked harder. When he finished his task, he went on to help others without even a little rest. He was wet all over after work. "I must learn from him," I said to myself . During last summer vacation I paid a visit to my uncle’s. It was the first time I had seen the sea. Tow years ago my uncle a closed friend of my father transferred from Shanxi to Yantai a beautiful port city; and then my aunt joined him a couple months later. And a year later I became their guest and was going to stay with them for a week. I was fascinated by the vastness of the sea the clean and soft sand on the beach the seagulls flying in the sky and the beauty of the golden sunset clouds over the dark blue water. But I missed the sunrise each day for I couldn’t get up early enough.

On the fifth day the alarm clock woke me up when it was still dark outside I hurried to the beach and stood in the cool breeze there the sky was turning grey little by little the sea was calm and all was so quiet that I felt I was surrounded by mysteries then suddenly in the faraway horizon golden beans of light were shooting up into the sky. A moment later a corner of the sun appeared. The sun was rising very slowly and reluctantly as if it was unwilling to leave the sea. At last the entire sun lay on the horizon so big and so red it looked like a huge ripe orange or a tender half-boiled yolk. It hesitated and shivered a moment then said goodbye to the sea and rose into the air. The scene was very beautiful touching and magnificent which I’ll never forget.

While Hong Kong is a global centre of trade, perhaps the citys most famous export is its entertainment industry, particularly in the martial arts genre. Several top-notch Hollywood performers originate from Hong Kong cinema -- Bruce Lee, Chow Yun-Fat, Jackie Chan, Michelle Yeoh, Jet Li and Leslie Cheung, to name a few. I went skiing with my friends on Sunday. It was my very first time to try this super interesting sport. I really enjoyed skiing A LOT, and I think that I have potential!!! For the entire afternoon, I only fell down twice before our coach actually came and taught us the correct postures. 据说，在英语流行开来的时候，许多欧洲人纷纷开始学习。目的很明确：读英语小说原文。一方面，这是一种审美的需求，另一方面，这也是社会阶层的划分依据：从此，身边的人分为两种，即能读英语小说原著的，和不能用英语阅读小说的人。在这样的目的驱使下，可想而知学习效率会如何之高。

最近在学习英国文学史，下载了海量的英美小说和诗歌。可以这么说，不读小说，不知英文的精妙，不读诗歌，不知英文的优雅与靓丽。

当下国人学习英语的目标，个人认为，不是纯粹的审美层面的。或是为了高考、大学英语四六级之类的等级考试，或是为了留学考试。真正静下心来，读一首英文诗歌，或许你会爱上英文的。

可以说，我的英语学习是为“雪耻”，小学的时候英语考试睁眼瞎，题都读不懂。到了初中，凭借优秀的语文和数学成绩，进入了英语实验班——是的，有一些滑稽。于是，在老师的悉心、严格的教学下，在我的努力下，英语终于按部就班地提高起来。中考英语以146分位居年级第一，进入了理想的直升班。

现在回想起来，简单的动机，为我打下了坚实的英语基础。当时，最开心的事情，就是每周的英语考试，可以读到新鲜热辣的时文。

不过，与那些英语原版世界名著相比，英语说明文就显得黯然失色了。当然，那些来自于《时代》周刊的英文消息，是很值得玩味的。至今记得那篇略显晦涩的对乔伊斯《尤利西斯》的报道。

今天，又窝在家里听英国文学史，打开一本诗集，顿时沉醉其中。

如果，能够以审美的维度，重新审视英语学习，我想，大家对英语学习的兴致，大概会浓厚很多了。
