有时候父母总是不计代价的付出，孩子走远了，又觉得无限荒凉和凄然。其实每个人都知道，在我们的心里，没有人能取代父母的位置，他们对我们的付出，对我们的爱，我们其实全都牢牢的记在了心里。我们也愿意用最大的爱去回报，只是，请允许我用自己的方式。我愿意把我收入的很大一部分拿来让我的妈妈过上相对充裕的生活，去享受自己想要的精神或物质，这样我会得到一种莫大的快乐和满足;但我不愿意听她唠叨一分钟，我觉得这不是不爱，只是因为我们不是能在语言交流上取得愉悦的人。如果说她在说，我在听，我不违心的告诉你，那仅仅是出于礼貌和孝敬。

比如说，龙应台从政。我是有点很难理解一个母亲和儿子的书信谈论的都是国家大事，世界，国家，民族，公平，自由，正义，很像是政治家们在探讨议论人类的发展，时局的走向;这跟我看《傅雷家书》的感觉不太一样。我想对龙应台来说这可能是职业习惯思维定势，但对安德烈来说，他只是个人主义的自由惯了的年轻人，有几分热情，几分牵强，就很难说清了。

比如说，也有安德烈的原因。父母都是有成就的名人，而且长时间不在身边，从小过着优裕的生活，十几岁周游了半个世界。我们可以想象这样的孩子是独立、自由、无忧而任性的人。他会放纵自己沉迷于自己的喜好，比如说朋友、音乐、足球、啤酒，而不愿意拿一点点时间来敷衍任何人。

我不知道通过这样的方式，他们是否达到了最终的目的，消除了心灵上的隔离;还是只是一个母亲一次有些痴心有些偏执的努力，其实在我的心里，我觉得可能没有。

无法表达自己的人──不论是由于贫穷，或是由于不自由，或者单单因为自己心灵的封闭，而无法表达自己的人，我最同情。

谈两座城

总体来说，我喜欢香港胜于德国。香港是一个二十四小时有生命的城市，永远有事在发生。而且，在香港真的比较容易交朋友，香港人比德国人开朗。我在香港只住了两年，在德国十四年，但是我在香港的朋友远远多于德国。昨天刚好跟一个义大利人谈天，她在德国住了好几年了。她说，德国太静了，静得让人受不了。德国人又那么的自以为是的封闭，芝麻小事都看成天大的事。

中国人跟意大利人实在很像：他们比德国人吵闹喧哗，是因为他们比德国人开朗开放。

香港唯一让我不喜欢的，是它的社会非常分化。譬如说，我的朋友圈里，全部都是国际学校的人，也就是说，全是有钱人家的小孩，付得起吓人的昂贵学费。半年来你的交往圈子只限于港大的欧洲学生，几乎没有本地人，你说原因很可能是语言和文化差异造成隔阂，可是我自己的经验和观察是：有钱没钱，才是真正的划分线。

酒吧跟咖啡馆，在欧洲，其实就是小区文化。朋友跟街坊邻居习惯去那里聊天，跟老板及侍者也像老友。它是你的“家乡”跟“文化”概念里很重要的一环。香港却显得很“浅”——不知道这个词用得对不对。这里没有咖啡馆，只有蹩脚的连锁店星巴克和太平洋咖啡，要不然就是贵得要死其实根本不值得的大饭店。至于酒吧?酒吧在香港，多半只是给观光客喝个毙掉的地方。还没毙倒在地上的，就歪在那里瞪着过路的亚洲女人看。

谈城市文化

在欧洲，咖啡馆是“诗人的写作间”、“艺术家的起居室”、“智慧的学堂”。巴黎的“花神”(Café de Flore)咖啡馆是西蒙-波娃逗留的书房，Le Procope是莫里哀和他的剧团夜夜必到、百科全书派作家逗留的酒馆。塞纳河畔的Duex magots和Brasserie Lipp是超现实主义派和存在主义哲学家逗留的地方。施威夫特(Swift)在伦敦的威尔咖啡馆(Wills)逗留，那是个文学沙龙，几乎主宰了17世纪的英国文学。罗马的古希腊咖啡馆(Antico Greco Caffe)曾经是瓦格纳、拜伦、雪莱逗留之处。维也纳的中央咖啡馆(Zentral)曾经是弗洛伊德和托洛茨基逗留的地方。艺术家在苏黎世伏尔泰逗留过的酒馆开展了达达艺术，知识分子在布拉格的咖啡馆逗留而开启了1803年政治的启蒙。

文化来自逗留——“逗”，才有思想的刺激、灵感的挑逗、能量的爆发;“留”，才有沉淀、累积、酝酿、培养。我们能不能说，没有逗留空间，就没有逗留文化;没有逗留文化，就根本没有文化?

思想需要经验的累积，灵感需要感受的沉淀，最细致的体验需要最宁静透彻的观照。累积、沉淀、宁静观照，哪一样可以在忙碌中产生呢?我相信，奔忙，使作家无法写作，音乐家无法谱曲，画家无法作画，学者无法著述。奔忙，使思想家变成名嘴，使名嘴变成娱乐家，使娱乐家变成聒噪小丑。闲暇、逗留，确实是创造力的有机土壤，不可或缺。

但是香港人的经济成就建立在“勤奋”和“搏杀”精神上。“搏杀”精神就是分秒必争，效率至上，赚钱第一。安德烈，这是香港的现实。这样坚硬的土壤，要如何长出经济效率以外的东西呢

谈龙应台的18岁

亲爱的安德烈，十八岁离开了渔村，三十年之后我才忽然明白了一件事，明白了我和这个渔村的关系。

离开了渔村，走到世界的天涯海角，在往后的悠悠岁月里，我看见权力的更迭和黑白是非的颠倒，目睹帝国的瓦解、围墙的崩塌，更参与决定城邦的兴衰。当价值这东西被颠覆、被渗透、被构建、被解构、被谎言撑托得理直气壮、是非难分的地步时，我会想到渔村里的人：在后台把婴儿搂在怀里偷偷喂奶的歌仔戏花旦、把女儿卖到“菜店”的阿婆、那死在海上不见尸骨的渔民、老是多给一块糖的杂货店老板、骑车出去为孩子借学费而被火车撞死的乡下警察、每天黄昏到海滩上去看一眼大陆的老兵、笑得特别开畅却又哭得特别伤心的阿美族女人……这些人，以最原始最真实的面貌存在我心里，使我清醒，仿佛是锚，牢牢定住我的价值。

那“愚昧无知”的渔村，确实没有给我知识，但是给了我一种能力，悲悯同情的能力，使得我在日后面对权力的傲慢、欲望的嚣张和种种时代的虚假时，仍旧得以穿透，看见文明的核心关怀所在。你懂吗，安德烈?

同时，我看见自己的残缺。十八岁时所不知道的高速公路、下水道、环境保护、政府责任、政治自由等等，都不难补课。但是生活的艺术，这其中包括品味和态度，是无法补课的。音乐、美术，在我身上仍旧是一种知识范围，不是一种内在涵养。生活的美，在我身上是个要时时提醒自己去保持的东西，就像一串不能遗忘的钥匙，一盆必须每天浇水的植物，但是生活艺术，更应该是一种内化的气质吧?它应该像呼吸，像不自觉的举手投足。我强烈地感觉自己对生活艺术的笨拙;渔村的贫乏，造成我美的贫乏。
