人有克制不住离家的欲望。这幢破旧不堪的老房自是囚不住一颗想要远走高飞的心。仗着年少，无所畏惧，逃离了那栋矮房。他们去哪儿？那并不重要，重要的是离开。他们回首再看了眼烟雨缭绕的江南，转头步入蒙蒙雾霭。留给江南的只是一番狂妄的誓言。

他们从城市的最低层做起，挥洒着年轻的汗水，顺着欲望的藤蔓，向上攀岩。当有一天，终于活成了最初所期盼的样子，却再也找不到真正的自己了。中年的他们，被岁月磨平了棱角。当初白手起家的艰辛历程成了茶余饭后的谈资，仅此，而已。他们有了无尽的欲望，想要登得更高，看得更远。再也不会因为有根烟抽就能满足。总是这样，人一旦有了贪念，步伐便不会轻易停下。

偶尔偶尔，当他们陷入错综复杂的迷局，他们才回想起黑白分明的江南；偶尔偶尔，当他们可以冷眼看待人情世故时，耳畔总会回想起摇船阿婆的软软悠长的乡音。

历经半生，归来容颜已改，乡音不再。年少时曾怨江南湿气太重，当年华如水流逝，一把老骨头，明明受不得寒，却愿被深深嵌入江南烟雨之中。不走了！他们开始有闲情照顾花花草草，就像他们那已走远的父亲一样。有时他们也会给小孙子讲讲故事，就像他们慈祥的外祖母一样。

他们以为自己功成身退，蓦然回首，却发现自己丢了最简单的幸福。便想：若是一开始选择的便是简单的生活，常伴亲人身侧，或许不会这么遗憾。

他二十岁的儿子朝他招了招手，头也不回地消失在那条湿漉漉的青石小巷……
