Nowadays, the world we live in is becoming more and more intolerable because of environmental destruction. Each day thousands of tons of gases come out of the exhausts of motor vehicles. First, people should be educated to recognize the importance of the problems, to use modern methods of birth control, to conserve our natural resources and recycle our products. Second, much more efforts should be made to put the policy of population into practice, because more people mean more pollution. Finally,laws concerning environmental protection should be put into effect and enforce strictly just as our government has been doing. 泉州是国务院首批公布的24座历史文化名称之一，是我国古代海上丝绸之路的起点。那古老而清幽的南音，典雅细致的梨园戏，形肖神似的提线木偶，妙趣横生的高甲戏等戏曲艺术，以及精美的石雕，竹编等民间工艺，都蕴涵着浓郁的闽南传统文化气息。

改革开放以来，泉州进入了经济发展的黄金期。中心市区的科技电讯产品，晋江石狮的鞋帽服装，南安的建材，惠安的石雕，安溪的茶叶，永春的芦柑，德化的瓷器，肖厝的石化产品驰名省内外，并已出口国外。

这一座祖国的魅力城市，正以她的生机与活力，向世人展示她的魅力。

然而，全世界都面临着一个重要的环保问题，同样也是影响泉州这座美丽的城市，在科技高速发展的今天，物质追求已成了人们力争的首要目标。为了能拥有所谓的“高质量”生活，许多无知的人在物质私欲面前做着一件件愚蠢的事——

乱砍滥伐，污水横流，废气熏天……人类几乎掠夺性的开发，严重破坏了生态平衡。干旱，洪水，沙尘暴等天灾地祸纷至沓来，越来越频繁地出现，一次次向我们敲响警钟。

要想使泉州这方美丽的土地永远地保存下去，环保是刻不容缓的问题，不管是谁，我们都有责任保护我们的城市环境，保护我们的家园。

我们可以号召大家行动起来，从我做起，从身边的小事做起，争当绿色小卫士，节约每一张纸；不捕，不吃国家保护动物；选择使用无磷洗衣粉；提起菜篮子走向市场……随手拧紧流水的水龙头；随手拾起道路上的废物丢入垃圾筒……这一举手之劳，便可换来生活自然的与谐，人与环境的融洽。

2008年全国农运会将在泉州举办，到时候一定会有许多来自世界各地的人士，作为东道主的我们，更应该以满腔的热忱，舒适的环境迎接远道而来的朋友们。让我们伸出双手，齐心协力，放眼未来，保护环境。
