阳泉有着丰富的旅游资源，自然风光秀丽宜人，古迹名胜闻名遐迩。至今尚存有春秋末期赵简子 狮垴山 百团大战纪念碑古 母亲河--桃河城遗址，汉淮阴侯韩信驻军遗址，唐代平阳公主率军驻守娘子关的遗址等。在平定境内南部的东浮山，相传女娲在此筑灶炼石补天，使整个东浮山的石头呈褐红色，投入水中后浮而不沉，至今遗灶尚存，还有明代陆深《浮山遗灶记》的碑文。市北60公里的藏山，相传春秋时代晋国赵氏孤儿曾藏匿于此，有藏孤洞的传说，藏山之名即演绎于此。除此，阳泉还保存有北魏石窟，南北朝摩崖石刻，宋代重建的有唐代遗风的林里关帝庙正殿，金元以来的古建筑群体等不少古文化遗址。桃河之水1931年中国共产党领导的平定武装起义的遗址，以及1940年举世闻名的“百团大战”主战场——狮脑山遗址。此外还有许多古刹庙宇、 城市广场刻碑碣、古塔古墓等文物足迹。 具有医疗价值的梁家寨温泉、药林寺以及娘子关瀑布，北方罕见的大型钟乳岩溶洞奇观——莲花洞、五华洞等，令人流连忘返。

阳泉还是晋冀两省旅游区的连接点，从阳泉到太原晋祠、佛教圣地五台山、革命圣地西柏坡、左权八路军总部旧址和黄崖洞、井陉苍岩山、正定大佛寺和大观园，均很便利 盂县藏山阳泉文化悠久，古有“三晋文化数二定”(平定、定襄)之说，历史上曾有“文献名邦”之美称。
