For almost two hundred years, the White House has stood as a symbol of the Presidency, the United States government, and the American people. Its history, and the history of the nations capital, began when President George Washington signed an Act of Congress in December of 1790 declaring that the federal government would reside in a district "not exceeding ten miles square...on the river Potomac." 啥？你问我有没有爱好？那还用说，可以说是五花八门、琳琅满目，嘻嘻，言重了吧。不过要说我最大的爱好嘛，还得数看书了。有这么一次，爸爸在看电视上的足球赛，我说想去奶奶家，爸爸点了点头，算是同意了。我走进厕所，本想方便一下就去的，没想到厕所里放着我最爱看的《儿童文学》，哇，多好的机会啊！真是天助我也。平时爸爸怕我眼睛近视严重，总是防着我，今天他看球赛我看书，正好两不误，于是我就直接坐在马桶上，津津有味地看了起来。去奶奶家的事早被抛到九霄云外了。也不知过了多久，听见爸爸在给奶奶打电话，好像还提到了我。后来又听到爸爸给妈妈和三姨她们一个个打电话，不知在说着什么，好像还有点急，紧接着听见爸爸下楼的声音。管那么多干啥，机不可失，时不再来，看书要紧。这可是个新的发现啊！以后看书就到这儿来，神不知鬼不觉的，没人打扰，多清静呀！
