My mother has no idea that her ninetieth birthday is coming up. She has no notion of the time of day, the day of the week. the season of the year, the year of the century. No notion of the approaching millennium. And no idea any longer, who I am. Her forgetting of me happened just a few months ago, after I had been traveling for more than a month and hadnt been to see her. The icing is smeared on her hands and face. I dont want my friends to see her smeared with icing, so I wet a paper towel and wipe her. As I wipe my mothers face, I see that her skin is still beautiful I hold her chin in my hand and kiss her forehead. I tell her its her birthday, that shes ninety years old. The Origin of Halloween

While there are many versions of the origins and old customs of Halloween, some remain consistent by all accounts. Different cultures view Holloween somewhat differently but traditional Halloween practices remain the same.

Halloween culture can be traced back to the Druids, a Celtic culture in Ireland, Britain and Northern Europe. Roots lay in the feast of Samhain, which was annually on October 31st to honor the dead.

Samhain signifies "summers end" or November. Samhain was a harvest festival with huge sacred bonfires, marking the end of the Celtic year and beginning of a new one. Many of the practices involved in this celebration were fed on superstition.

The Celts believed the souls of the dead roamed the streets and villages at night. Since not all spirits were thought to be friendly, gifts and treats were left out to pacify the evil and ensure next years crops would be plentiful. This custom evolved into trick-or-treating.

一、学生能充分认识英语写作的重要性是写作能力提高的必要条件。

英语写作能力的提高需要持之以恒的长期训练。如果学生对写作重要性认识不够，他们就不能积极主动地去配合老师搞好写作训练，甚至产生逆反心理，产生对立情绪，英语写作就会半途而废，达不到预期目的。

在平时教学中，老师要经常性地有意识地对学生进行写作重要性的教育。学生一进入高中就要让他们了解初中和高中英语教学要求的异同。

二、指导写作应注意的几个问题：

1．教师要有明确合理的教学计划和教学程序，组织系统规范的有序训练。

2．帮助和要求学生养成积极主动地坚持英语写作的良好习惯。

3．坚持循序渐进的训练原则。写作要先易后难，先短后长，先学会运用简单句、并列句，后学会用复合句表达，先写正确句子逐步过渡到围绕一个人、一件事、一个观点去写有中心的文章，由不限定时间到限定时间，由限定时间长到限定时间短，由限定字数少到多……

4．分程度要求。对学生的要求不能一刀切，对学习好的要求要高，对学习差的要求要适当低一些。要避免有些学生轻而易举垂手可得，而有些学生又可望而不可及的情况发生。

5．注意讲评。要经常指出优点，以利模仿，指出缺点，警示避免。

6．鼓励优秀，耐心帮助差生。充分利用板报、专栏进行优秀作文展览，或者也可采用传阅方式进行。但不能放弃或岐视差生，要经常帮助他们树立信心，掌握写作方法和技巧。

Yesterday, my parents were not home. And I had to stay at home by myself for one day and one night. I was very happy at first, because there wouldnt be anyone criticizes my behavior. I can do whatever I want. But later I felt desperate. There was nobody cook for me, asked me to do things or criticized me. I felt empty and desperate as the house is only me. When the night fell, I was afraid. The computer games or the cartoons couldn’t attract my attention. I hate living alone.

从小，“红十字会”在我心中就是一个神圣而又神秘的组织，似乎可望而不可及，“……一个遍布全球的慈善救援组织……为推动‘红十字运动’……全世界组织最庞大，最有影响力的组织……”这就是我对红十字会零零散散的理解。上初中后，我有幸在入团年龄之前正式入团，才得以接触这个神秘的慈善组织。

3月9日下午自习课，初二全体团员在办公楼会议室集体集合开会，安排有关志愿募捐活动的相关事宜。

第二天上午，作为这个周末的第一批志愿者，我们准时来到集合地点——名汇铜锣湾广场。换上红十字会特制的服装，我们举起红十字的横幅，在活动宣传板前摄影留念后，开始进行为拯救中国广大*腺癌患者的募捐活动。

我们被分为三组，每两人一组。我生性比较怕生，而恰巧与我一组的同学更为内向。行动开始后，我们在广场内上上下下，几乎没有任何进展。但令我大为震惊的是，我们收到的第一笔捐款，竟然是一个带着两名小孩的外国妇女。这使我不禁想到前几位拒绝我们的群众，他们的理由，五花八门，甚至有两位女士，开玩笑一样地说：“自己都吃不饱了，还给别人捐款啊。”当时，我哑口无言，面对这两位冷漠的女士，对她们的不满意，不是因为她们爱心的缺失，则是因为她们为推辞捐款而胡乱编造的理由。她们的衣着时髦，发型新颖，却口口声声称自己没有吃饱饭的钱。与那位带孩子的外国妈妈相比，我们真的应该为自己所谓的爱心反思一下了。

因为不善表达，加上经验的不足，我们的进度缓慢，眼看着别组那已经快装满的捐款箱，我们无不愁容满面，不知如何是好。行动结束以后，我们也没有收到多少捐款，手中一大叠的宣传资料也没有发出去多少。看着别组同学可以称得上是硕果累累的捐款箱，我似乎有一种失落感。

下午吃完午餐，我们就可以打道回府了。可是想到上午的失败，我深思熟虑了一番，决定和另外一组同学组成一个三人小组，和下午到达的另一班同学一起行动。

这个下午，我才知道，这组同学的成功并不是因为她们抢占了人流较多的位置，真正原因则是因为她们很强的表达能力，无限的热心和宽容。她们事先了解了这次活动，遇见路人，首先就会滔滔不绝地与路人介绍这次活动，连带把自己的学校、身份也一并说出，让路人在短时间内最大限度地了解了这次活动。遇到没有零钱的群众，她们也会热心地与他介绍了解这次活动的其他途径，能让听众听得细致却又不觉厌烦。值得注意的是，她们不论遇到什么人，无论那人的态度如何，或是不理不睬，甚至恶意地表示质疑，她们的“谢谢”总是摆在嘴边，不曾忘记。一个多小时下来，我已经被她们所震惊，想到自己上午的业绩，实在是羞愧难当。

这中间，也不乏有质疑的声音存在。下午，我们就遇见了两位女士，其中一位态度还比较温和，在我们的提示下，去观看了宣传栏。另外一位，质疑的声音比较大，态度也比较强硬。她说，如果捐给你们，还不如直接找红十字会我自己捐去，我也不知道你们是什么人。不管那位女士是出于警戒的心理还是想推辞捐款，我想她说的现象也不是没有的。在这里，我只能呼吁社会上那些靠人们的爱心来获取利益的人们，赶紧回归正路，用自己的能力赚点良心钱，让更多真正需要帮助的人获益其中。

我们看不见我们帮助的人，就像他们也看不见我们一样。但是，我们却用自己的爱心筑成了一条可以看得到的连心红丝带，它连接这每个富有爱心人的心灵，让爱心得以永久延续。
