Satan in the Bible is an image of devil. But in Paradise Lost, Satan challenges the authority of God and want to be free, he is a fighter for freedom. The poet portrayed Satan as a brave hero that went to get rid of god’s domination. In Paradise Lost, the Satan was the most successful image the author shaped.The allure of free will is where the attractiveness and power of Satan"s character lies. Stanley Fish in his essay, ‘The Harassed Reader in Paradise Lost, argues that Satan possesses a form of heroism which is easy to admire because it is visible and flamboyant and that, on that basis, Satan’s attractiveness is only initial. Milton was, undoubtedly, conscious that he was in danger of portraying Satan as too much of a heroic figure and made efforts to be little him through the use of unflattering imagery, and by highlighting his less complimentary characteristics.

Nonetheless, our emotions are still fired. Our first encounter with Satan and his rebel hosts occurs in Book I, when they are recovering from the shock of having been expelled from heaven by the Son after three days of fighting the angels of God. Despite the defeat he has suffered, Satan gains our admiration by displaying resilience in quickly coming to terms with the change in his circumstances, in remustering his forces and organizing the building of his palace, Pandemonium. At the same time he demonstrates his determination not to be defeated and shows true qualities of leadership, persuasively arguing that there is still hope for battle and victory. Satan is convincing in his first speech to Beelzebub, his chief partner in crime, as he declares: What though the field be lost? All is not lost; the unconquerable will, And study of revenge, immortal hate, And courage never to submit or yield: And what is else not to be overcome? That glory never shall his wrath or might Extort from me. Although Satan may be an epic machine, he is best portrayed as the tragic anti-hero of Paradise Lost or, at the very least, a main character who possesses the stature and attributes which enable him to achieve tragic status. In the Greek tradition, the essential components of tragedy are admiration, fear and pity for the ‘hero’， who has to display a tragic weakness or flaw in his character, which will lead to his downfall. It might be argued that the flaws in Satan’s character are such that we should feel no admiration, fear or pity for him, yet he can be seen to inspire these emotions. Satan’s tragic flaws are pointed out in Book I. They are envy, pride, and ambition towards self-glorification. Satan’s pride, in particular, is stressed throughout Paradise Lost.

The poet condemned God through Satan’s words. On the surface, God had given human free will; in fact, he had suppressed the true freedom.Obviously, the poet"s criticism and condemnation of God were out from the social reality of United Kingdom. 老人圣地亚哥是一位老渔民，老人与海就讲述了他在连续八十四天都没有捕到一条鱼的情况下，终于独自一人钓上了一条大马林鱼，但这条鱼庞大的像一座山丘，所以将老渔民圣地亚哥的小渔船整整拖了几天几夜叉筋疲力尽，被老人杀死绑在了小船的一头。老人返航的时候却遇到了鲨鱼，他应用的抵抗鲨鱼的攻击。可最后回到港湾的时候，大鱼只剩下鱼头、鱼尾和一条脊骨。

I am always shy and afraid of standing in front of a lot of people, so I

dont have many friends. In my heart, I desire to make a lot of friends and hang

《狗.猫.鼠》虽然表面上是写猫和鼠的，其实是借猫和鼠来讽刺当时的现代批评“正人君子”陈西滢等人。鲁迅先生从动物禽兽的角度看，嘲讽了一些人甚至不如禽兽。同时回忆了童年救养的一只隐鼠的经历和一些感受。

《阿长与《山海经》》中，主要写鲁迅先生儿时与长妈妈相处的故事。一方面写出了长妈妈的唠叨，对“我”的严格管教和长妈妈的睡觉姿势;另一方面有写了长妈妈的朴实;善良，并千方百计得到赠送给“我”渴慕已久的〈山海经》。表达了“我”对长妈妈显然有不满之情，但更多的是对长妈妈的感激之情。鲁迅先生字里行间饱含的深情，赞颂了长妈妈的善良，勤劳，同时也反映了下层劳动人民悲惨的命运。

“戚而能谐，婉而多讽”，鲁迅先生这样评价“儒林外史”，指出了《儒林外史》在讽刺艺术上的高度成就。大多数人评价《儒林外史》，都说这是一部承载了厚重文化内涵的小说。在我看来，又有不同理解，它就像是个别有洞天的世界。

《儒林外史》给我印象最深的就是它所描述的人物以及那些“戚而能谐，婉而多讽”的语言。一段段的语言描写，神态描写将人物雕刻得栩栩如生，在吴敬梓的笔下让我看到了真儒生和假儒生，真情义和假道义，一个世界存在那么多那么多的不同。

还记得严监生这个人物，他快死去时说的话，做的事。他嘴里不停的咕嚷着，手上不停地比划着“2”的手势，怕是谁也想不到他竟是要掐掉那煤油灯里的其中一支灯芯。吴敬梓没有一句描写提到小气、鄙夷这些带有贬义的词汇，却处处体现出此人的极其爱财。可他终究也是为了自己家人的生活。虽吝啬到了极点，但探其根本，也是源于“爱”。另一人物—匡超人，记得他曾是个在深夜一边照顾卧病在床的父亲，一边捧书苦读的人。我曾多么希望在后续的故事里他能过上好的生活。可是他变了，变得不在拥有孝心，不知道义，心里满是权利富贵，多可悲呀!

严监生的一念是爱，虽吝啬但可敬。匡超人的一念是欲，欲望左右了他。由穷儒到富官，就在这一念之间。王冕，家境贫寒的善学者。因擅画荷花，得到衙门老爷的赏识，这时他本可应邀做个富官，但他没有，几次躲避，最终归隐。他的一念始终坚定，虽是穷儒，但是我心中最可敬的人。

士人是本书中的描述重点。吴敬梓通过描写当时读书人的遭遇表现出当时的社会风气，社会形态。出现数次最多的无非就是科举，八股文禁锢了文人的思想，八股取仕却是当时读书人出人头地的唯一途径。

范进，最具代表性的人物，参加科举可以说是他竭尽一生做的唯一一件事。他希望功成名就，希望得到财富和地位，但若不是遇到周进这位伯乐，怕是一生也碌碌无为，无权无势无财。一念穷儒，一念富官，但这一念，不是范进的，而是周进他心中的一念，命运掌握在他人手中，实在有些可悲。

读完《儒林外史》后，我常想，还好我没有出生在那个时代;现如今，我拥有自己的思想和可自控的人生，这是一件多幸运的事啊!

读《儒林外史》虽只是粗略的浏览，但我心中对书有了新的理解，也有更深的感悟。正因读过，而学会懂得。也因时代境遇的反差，所以珍惜。

《西游记》读来脍炙人口，说的是一个师徒四人西天取经的故事：在唐朝太宗贞观年间，孙悟空、猪八戒、沙僧三人连同坐骑白龙马保护唐僧西行取经，路途中共历经九九八十一难，一路降妖伏魔，最后取得了真经并带回东土播传与世人，他们也功成正果而成佛。

这个由天马行空般的想象和以现实作为背景搭建起来的“梦幻世界”，赋予了我对人生的又一个认识——

锲而不舍地朝目标奋进，才是成功的前提。

电视剧版的《西游记》中片尾曲有一句歌词：“容易干不成大业绩。”说得好，唐僧刚开始和两个和尚出发取经，途中路过虎穴，老虎把两个和尚和马都一并吞吃了，唐僧幸得一猎人相救，不过也吓掉了半条命。但唐僧重振雄心，在第二天的曙光中与猎人一家的送行下踏上征途。后得四个徒弟作伴，有时，八戒突然来一句：“散伙了罢!”但另外三人坚定不移，又一起向前挺进，奔向未知的变数。

时间一点一滴从他们的步伐间轻轻流逝过，弹指十几年如一瞬。不断的日月更替中，有悲欢离合，可是彼此坚定的意志支撑着身躯，不然这么多年乏味路途加上无数噩梦的挑战，谁能受得了?十几年的不懈奋进，最终换来了得到真经的那刻几乎要潸然泪下的欢喜。他们终于成功了，看到这里我也不禁笑了。是啊，多么艰苦，该需要多大的毅力?

在平时的生活里，不提似取经那般的伟事，就算是再也普通不过的学习，也需我们坚实的奋进脚步。

当我拿着鲁迅先生的书《朝花夕拾》开始认真读的时候，我发现了一种奇妙的感觉，像小桥一样清爽

和狼比起来，人的原始形态和狐狸尾巴全部原形毕露。如今打着口号植树造林，防止沙漠化，大多数说说而已，纸上谈兵。谁都知道大西北沙漠连篇得和内地一个省那么大，有多少人扎根边疆，决心改造边疆，吃苦受罪，献其一生?与煮熟的青蛙一样死于安乐。草原赖子洞数不胜数，又深又长，夏季繁殖可达到一成十，十成百，一个赖子一个洞，千个万个草原岂不是遭殃了，所以狼就奉腾格里之命，替天行道铲除赖子，控制动物增减，对草原可是尽职尽忠，功莫大焉。狼对周围的东西十分好奇，恶劣的环境中它们仍是成群结队，大难不死。物竞天择，适者生存。旱灾大白灾，加上狼的高悬赏金诱惑猎人去围剿，狼能不死就说明它对人还留了一手，通有本事着呢。

合上书，眼前又一次浮现种种画面，人类真的可以从狼身上学到很多东西！

以前只是听过这本书，没有读过，偶尔也就是读过一两片节选。其实读后，也就没有感觉到什么，只是很懵懂。

How are you? Im really glad that you are interested in traditional Chinese

festivals. There are many traditional festivals in China, such as Spring

Festival, Mid-Autumn Day and so on. Id like to introduce the Spring Festival to

you. Spring Festival is the most important traditional holiday in China. It

usually lasts for 15 days.

Days before the festival, people clean their houses. They think cleaning

sweeps any bad luck. They decorate their houses with paper cuts. On the eve of

the festival, family members get together and have big meals. Then they watch

the Spring Festival Gala on TV. At midnight, they set off fireworks to welcome

the New Year. During the festival, kids get lucky money from old people. People

visit their relatives and friends. They wish each a happy year and good luck.

grandparents.so i took the bus and got there at noon,they were happy to see

今年寒假，我读了一本书——《镜花缘》。

《镜花缘》是清朝的李汝珍一生中最伟大的作品，它甚至可以与《西游记》媲美。

《镜花缘》以一段天庭上的故事开头：冬日的一天，百花仙子与麻姑下棋，由于风雪太大，未及时赶回洞中，洞里的花仙们听从了人间帝王武则天的旨意，在冰雪中将百花齐放。她们殊不知，几百年前，百花仙子曾承诺，若听取了下界帝王的旨意，自甘堕落红尘。就这样，百花仙子被贬下了凡，投胎在中原唐秀才家做了女儿，取名唐小山。

这位唐秀才，名叫唐敖，因厌倦了功名富贵，便同林之洋、多九公一起在外游山玩水。令我印象最深的，是他们游黑齿国和女儿国。三人乘船来到黑齿国，看这里的人都异常的黑，不仅身上漆黑，牙齿也是漆黑的，只有眉毛和嘴唇是鲜红的。林之洋带着货物到街上去卖，唐敖和多九公则到街上游玩。走到一个女学塾，两人停下脚步，走进去想讨杯茶喝。

一个老态龙钟的儒生和两个大约十五岁，穿着紫色和红色衣服的小姑娘，热情地接待了两人。老人介绍，穿着紫衣服的姑娘叫庐红薇，穿着红色衣服的姑娘叫黎紫萱。老人请二人指点一下两位姑娘的功课，唐敖谦虚推辞，可九公却跃跃欲试，他想：两个黑不溜秋的小丫头，才读了几年书，提出的问题，哪有回答不出的道理？

可是，九公这回可是栽在了她们的手里。两位姑娘提的问题，都无法从书本上找到现成的答案，必须博学旁通，更要有独特的见解，才能回答的出。九公越发招架不住，急得老脸发红。最后还是林之洋及时赶到，才解了围。看到这里，我明白了人不可貌相，海水不可斗量的道理。

还有一次，三人来到女儿国。这里的女儿国可不是《西游记》里的女儿国，这里有男有女，但是，男人却要打扮成女人，女人要打扮成男人。走到街上，人人都把唐敖他们当成假扮男人的女人。唐敖和九公玩了一天，回到船上，发现林之洋尚未归来。便四处搜寻，可搜了好几天，还是杳无音讯。那么，林之洋到底去哪了呢？原来，林之洋到王宫里去卖东西，可是，国王看上了林之洋，把他封为了王妃，择日就要娶回宫中。在回宫之前，林之洋要缠好足。

宫女们簇拥着林之洋，给他换上了华丽的裙子，又给他沐浴，擦香粉，带上金银首饰。随后，又有人来给林之洋穿耳，也就是在耳朵上穿洞，好带耳环。又有宫女来给林之洋缠足，林之洋拒不服从，被国王下令打二十板子，把脚吊在房梁上。林之洋生不如死，每天被缠足，痛不欲生，脚上的肉全部坏死，化成脓血，只剩下骨头。最后在世子的帮助下才逃脱。读了《镜花缘》，我觉得它和《聊斋》不无相同之处。它们讲的都是一些千奇百怪的故事，读后，令人回味无穷。但是，我觉得，《镜花缘

Abstract: This film Shawshank Redemption describes a man called Andy Dufresne was sent to the prison for he murdered his wife but in fact he was innocent. Then he started fighting against with the wicked prison life. Though he suffered many unfair treatments and ordeals, he never gives up himself. Due to his intelligence and perseverance, he spend 20 years successfully escape from the prison as a redemption. He teaches me that never lose hope.

The story took place in 1940. A man who is a banker called Andy Dufresne, was sent into the Shawshank prison, for he murderer his wife and her lover in bed. However, he was innocent as he said. The new days in the prison were hard to live. It’s violent, heartless and cruel. Nevertheless, A month later, Andy began to make friends with other prisoners. And one of them called Red, who could get anything what he wanted. Andy bought a mallet from him and started his plan to escape. During this time, he did many things: expanding the library, caving stones, helping the corrupt warden to get money or bribe, etc. Then a young prisoner’s coming break his quiet life in jail. But the warden killed the young prisoner the only man that knew Andy was innocent. Then he knew the prison he could not stay any more. It took him 20 years to tunnel secretly and he successfully escaped from the prison. When he got free, Andy sent the evident which could prove the warden corruption, briber and murdering to the policy agency. Before that, Andy had told his best friend Red that his dream---Zihuatanejo, a warm place without memory. After escaping, Andy lived a free life in another identity and made the prison governor arrested. Several years later, Red was approved to leave. for the promise to Andy. Finally, in Zihuyatanejo, they met.

The cruel prison life terrified me and the friendship moved me. The story goes to a happy ending---redemption. This film impressed me a lot. A sentence was said in the film: ’Some birds aren"t meant to be caged, but most birds will choose to stand it.’

In this film, as we can see, the Shawshank Prison, which enjails lots of people. They have been in the prison form many years ,so they won’t go abroad. Because they won’t and also they can’t. They lived here for years without hope, and they lived just in the small prison, where nobody knows what is their dream and what’s their hope. As I remember, a old man Brooks was released after he had been in the jail for 50 years. But he found that the world became completely different from the world he imagined. For example, he seldom see cars before. He felt very strange and helpless to the outside world He can hardly adapt to the new developed world. He would rather stay in the prison. So unfortunately he chose to commit suicide.

However, on the contrary, Andy said a converse sentence:’ Some birds aren"t meant to be caged, that"s all. Their feathers are just too bright’ He long for the freedom and strive for it! What I remember very clearly is someone said that These walls are kind of funny things like that. First, you hate them, then you get used to them. Enough time passed, get so you depend on them. That is institutionalizing. But Andy hadn’t been affected. He insisted on his faith of freedom. He dared to pursue his deserved freedom! That’s the first point I appreciate.

What’s more, another thing I think is friendship. Of course, Andy’s perseverance and endeavor is the main reason that he succeed in escaping. But it can’t be denying that friendship is also a important reason. Without the friends’ help in the prison, especially red’s, He can’t break the prison, too. Even in the jail which is the most evil place that Andy could make it a significance place. He had transformed a storage room smelling of turpentine into the best prison library in New England. Then the prisoners read the books and got knowledge from it. Andy also helped them to pass the high school equivalency. The glitters of him lighted others’ life. That helps him built many sincere friendships in the prison. He just too bright that didn’t belong to the prison .Then he escape and gained the freedom.

Furthermore, the patience, courage and b willpower are the keys to escape. 20 years, not a short ordeal time, but he endured. He made his plan day by day, week by week and year by year. He never gives up. he took nearly twenty years to dip a tunnel with a little rock hammer which Red said it would take a man 600 years to tunnel under the wall with one of these to fight for his free .And he did it finally. Please imagine, crossing the tunnel he dup, he still should crawled through five hundred yards of shit-smelling foulness. That is the length of five football fields.

Then is the last but not least, I think. He has the bright brain ,the never fading persistent, and the most important thing----hope. Just as Andy said to Red: Hope is a good thing, may be the best of things. In this film, Andy show us that how good thing the hope is. Yes , hope is a good thing. Whatever it is, it can’t lock the hope. We all have dream. We all have hope. We all have it and please never give up, like Andy.

This film, Shawshank Redemption, teaches me a lot. It deserves to be one of the most overwhelming films in the Hollywood.

My English Study

How time flies! My three-year middle school life will be over soon。 Looking back， I have many memories of my English study。

When I entered the middle school， I had so many difficulties with my English。 I was not able to understand the teacher in class， and I couldn’t master the words and phrases。 For a time I wanted to give it up。 Later， with the help of the teacher and my classmates， I listened to the teacher carefully in class， kept on reading English every day and spoke as much as possible。 Step by step I made great progress in English。

In a word， only when you develop interest in studying English can you learn it well。

at present, more and more people think that men and women should enjoy

equal rights. many countries even have passed laws to guarantee such an equality

between different sexes. accordingly, there are now no longer certain jobs or

certain places that are closed to women. the number of business women, female

doctors, scientists and leaders is considerably increasing.

there are three main reasons for the improvement of womens social

position. first, women themselves have been persistently struggling for

equality. second, men also realize that women are not born inferior to them.

women can do a great many things as well as or even better than men. third,

social development has produced a great demand for womens participation in

every field.

in spite of these changes the liberation of women has not been completely

realized. prejudice against women is deeply rooted still in some peoples mind,

especially in distant rural areas. so, mankind should take further painstaking

efforts to really realize equality.

i’m a tall and lively boy. i like playing basketball very much because it’s interesting. i like nba, too. there are many famous stars in it. such as alan, iveson, tim, donken, jordan, kobe, o’neal and so on. yao ming is in the nba, too. he’s chinese. he plays basketball well. he’s a center forward. he’s our pride. all the ball stars can jump, shoot and pour in the basket. so each game of the nba is wonderful. sometimes the players can perform miracles, i think.

this year’s champion is spur team. it’s one of the strongest contenders.

i like nba. i love basketball.
