大家看，我们的左边就是长城了。长城全长一万三千多里，有人走完全程竟花了五百多天！从春秋战国时期的一段长城，到秦朝被连接起来，又经过三千多年的风雨，修筑，让我们看到了现在的明朝长城。

我们现在来到的就是长城中最著名的一段――八达岭长城。我们脚踩着的城墙顶有十米宽，全都是用条石和城砖筑成的。这些条石、城砖，一块就有两三千斤重。那时没有起重机、火车和汽车，就靠着劳动人民的手和脚，一步一步地扛上这崇山峻岭。城墙外沿有两米多高的垛子，垛子上有些方形的洞口是射箭口，边上的凹口是瞭望口，供射击和瞭望使用。古代人民的聪慧让人赞叹。千年以前的这里，战士们严阵以待，站在长城上。这时，远方烟尘四起，敌人趁着天刚蒙蒙亮，向这这冲来。战士们先在瞭望口瞭望，知道敌军的位置，再把箭搭到射口，向敌人发起猛烈的射击。如果抵挡不住，还会在峰火台上放狼烟，每隔三百多米就有一个，这样，使在千里之外的京城也能很快知道消息，搬来救兵。现在长城已经是中华民族的象征了！
