Summer comes , and the weather has become irritating. My big sister suggested going to Hainan for a good relax. I thought about it for a while and agreed. Hainan is really a good place, where palm trees are abundant.

Surrounded by a six meter deep moat and a ten meter high wall are 9,999 buildings. The wall has a gate on each side. The distance between these two gates is 960 meters, while the distance between the gates in the east and west walls is 750 meters. There are unique and delicately structured towers on each of the four corners of the curtain wall. These afford views over both the palace and the city outside. The Forbidden City is divided into two parts. The southern section, or the Outer Court was where the emperor exercised his supreme power over the nation. The northern section, or the Inner Court was where he lived with his royal family. Until 1924 when the last emperor of China was driven from the Inner Court, fourteen emperors of the Ming dynasty and ten emperors of the Qing dynasty had reigned here. Having been the imperial palace for some five centuries, it houses numerous rare treasures and curiosities. Listed by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage Site in 1987, the Palace Museum is now one of the most popular tourist attractions world wide.

Construction of the palace complex began in 1407, the 5th year of the Yongle reign of the third emperor of the Ming dynasty. It was completed fourteen years later in 1420. It was said that a million workers including one hundred thousand artisans were driven into the long-term hard labor. Stone needed was quarried from Fangshan, a suburb of Beijing. It was said a well was dug every fifty meters along the road in order to pour water onto the road in winter to slide huge stones on ice into the city. Huge amounts of timber and other materials were freighted from faraway provinces. Ancient Chinese people displayed their very considerable skills in building the Forbidden City. Take the grand red city wall for example. It has an 8.6 meters wide base reducing to 6.66 meters wide at the top. The angular shape of the wall totally frustrates attempts to climb it. The bricks were made from white lime and glutinous rice while the cement is made from glutinous rice and egg whites. These incredible materials make the wall extraordinarily strong.

Since yellow is the symbol of the royal family, it is the dominant color in the Forbidden City. Roofs are built with yellow glazed tiles; decorations in the palace are painted yellow; even the bricks on the ground are made yellow by a special process. However, there is one exception. Wenyuange, the royal library, has a black roof. The reason is that it was believed black represented water then and could extinguish fire.

Nowadays, the Forbidden City, or the Palace Museum is open to tourists from home and abroad. Splendid painted decoration on these royal architectural wonders, the grand and deluxe halls, with their surprisingly magnificent treasures will certainly satisfy "modern civilians".

丽江古城是世界文化遗产，有八百多年的历史了，城里居住的大部分是纳西族人，他们有自己的文字就是东巴文，是一种象形文字。还有东巴绘画、和东巴音乐，我看了以后觉得真是很古老的。城里的建筑都是四合院，家家门口都有小溪水流过，街道非常干净整齐，还有很多漂亮的小桥。四方街是古城的中心，有很多的游客在那里游玩购物，我差一点跟妈妈走散，吓死我了。那里还有一个好大好大的水车。我从来没有见过这么大的水车。

离丽江古城不远的地方又有一座古城，那就是束河古镇。束河古镇是茶马古道上的重镇，因此我们看到了很多的牦牛和马拉车。我还骑了骑马。在束河古城最使我难忘的是遇见了一位白胡子的老爷爷，他是一位著名的指画书画家（就是用手指蘸着墨汁作画写字），他还为胡锦涛爷爷做过画呢！因为我也喜欢书法，就走进他的画廊里欣赏浏览，不一会我们就聊熟了。临走时他非要送我一副字，我不好意思要，他说：这么漂亮的小姑娘又这么喜欢我的字，我免费送给你了。他问我写什么，因为我属马，就请他写了一副“马到成功”。后来他又为妈妈写了一副，我们都很感谢他。

到丽江一定要爬玉龙雪山。玉龙雪山有5000多米高，山顶终年积雪，丽江古城里家家门口流的水就是玉龙雪山的雪水。我们是坐索道上的山，山上好冷，幸好我们带着棉大衣没有被冻着。在山顶我们照了很多像，因为山高缺氧，我有点不适应，停留了一会儿，我们就下山了。

蓝月谷也是一个非常美丽的地方。主要是玉龙雪山流下来的雪水汇成了白水河，经过上万年的流淌积累形成的钙化池。那钙化池一层一层、一圈一圈的，像一瓣一瓣的花瓣，雪白雪白的美丽极了！真是大自然赐给我们人类的人间仙境。我要妈妈给我多照几张相片，真是不巧，妈妈的相机没电了，只好用手机照了几张。妈妈安慰我说：“不要生气，这也是给你留个念想，以后还会来的”。
