我喜欢钱老先生的写作风格，夹叙夹议，语言既讽刺又不失幽默。钱老最厉害的是他的比喻功底，人间百态，儿女情长都在他的笔下变得格外真实。慢慢品味书中的各色人物，确实是一大乐事。钱老先生对人物的塑造很成功，一个人本就是复杂的多样的矛盾体。

小说的背景发生在1937年及以后的若干年，小说的主人公方鸿渐游学归来。说是到海外深造，令人感叹的是他学的不是数学、物理、哲学、心理、经济、法律，而是中国文学，仿佛国文到海外之后会升值似的。方鸿渐的兴趣颇广，却没有一门有什么造诣。为了应付父亲和岳父，他出钱买了个假博士文凭。虽说现在文凭造假困难，但是学术造假确实屡见不鲜。可见，时代进步了，人的某些个劣根性依然没有摆脱。

此外，还有一点是方鸿渐的“学艺不精”，我觉得很适应当下的景。网络世界发达了，人们学习知识应该更加广泛、自由和灵活，却还是难出学术上的奇才。甘心坐冷板凳的人少了，急功近利的人在日渐增多。凡是一门学问，颇受欢迎的是标有某某速成课的字样，去点开一听，莫过于是应付考试的“锦囊妙计”，更劣质的也许是一些空泛的大道理，毫无实质性的东西。曾经红极一时的“成功学”就是的讽刺。最近火爆网络的14岁天才少女，其背后不过又是一个“成功学”陷阱。
