It is a celebrating day. I got in touch with Michael whom I have been losing contact for one year.

Life is enjoyable in moments such like this. Old friends meet again surprisingly, on a road of their own ways to their dreams. They look at the face of each other, and recognize the old pal. It is such moment that makes me feel grateful to life: whenever I set off for a new destination, I see I have friends in the same direction, with whom I wont feel alone any more.

would scare him. So we quickly hid. "Dong dong dong..." "Dad is here!" Grandma

stepped forward to open the door, when Dad walked past us. "Wow," we jumped out.

"Ah, scared me to death!" Dad was shaking. A dignified man was frightened by

When Dad walked into the room and found the gift, his eyes were wide open,

The Hero in My Heart

But my hero is around me, who gives me more love than others. She is my mother, the hero in my heart. My mother isnt great in the way of a famous singer or a movie star. People always complain about the society, because they think they are treated unfairly and so many things are unpredictable. It seems that if everything is under controlled will be the wonderful thing for them. However, after seeing the movie about the controlled life, I don’t think the wonderful world is a good choice.

When people’s consciousness is no longer belong to them, what will happen? Then things are predictable and they don’t feel anything They can’t feel the real happiness and sorrow, then life becomes meaningless.

Though people don’t have any annoyance in the wonderful world, they are the walking dead. I’d rather to live with happiness and sorrow, which make my life meaningful.

A Trip to Beijing

My American friend Tom and I went to Beijing by plane last summer.

On the first day，we visited the Palace Museum and Tiananmen Square. The next day，we climbed the Great Wall. We took lots of photos. Although we felt tired，it was a fantastic experience. The third day we relaxed. Then we had the Beijing roast duck for lunch. I think it is the most delicious food in the world. The trip to Beijing was short，but it was wonderful. Tom said that he would never forget it.

I understand your well-respected college offers a number of places to

overseas students every year, and I am writing to enquire about the application

procedure.

I am at present a student at Mary High School, Hong Kong, where I have been

studying for the past five years. I passed the Hong Kong Certificate of

Education Examination last year with distinctions in English and History, and

credits in Economics and English Literature. My advanced-level subjects are

History, Economics and English Literature. In addition to these subjects, "Use

of English" is also a compulsory subject because a pass in English is a minimum

requirement for admission to most faculties of the University of Hong Kong.

Apart from academic work, I have been actively involved in extra-curricular

activities. I am Chairman of the English Club and I have represented my school

in many inter-school contests.

On the advice of my friends, I have decided to further my studies in

Offering a helping hand

When we are in trouble in our lives, we may hope that we can get some helps from others.

My friend Allen was upset a few days ago, the CET 4 is coming, he was hard-working for studying English, but he didn’t passed the daily tests, he thought it was no use and he wanted to give it up, I thought he should continue it because he have prepared for a long time. I told him that and he should review knowledge like vocabulary, listening, reading, and he should to learn to control the time. In the last test, he passed it and he regained confidence.

I think that offering a helping hand is a kind of quality to show that you have a warm heart. First of all, it is normal to face troubles, we will get it over if we get some helps, nobody can defeat a person if he was determined to stand up to every failure. Also, it is our duty to offer a helping hand when people have difficult doing something. Next, it is very easy for us to help others, maybe it is just a small thing like picking the books, and they may appreciate your help. Your friends might learn the significance ofconfidence and optimism because of your helping hand.
