三九天是指从冬至算起的第三个“九天”，也就是冬至后的第19-27天。中国的农历用“九九”来计算时令，冬至为“一九天”的第一天，每九天为一“九”，第一个九天叫做“一九”，第二个九天叫“二九”，依此类推，过完“九九”八十一天，冬天便结束，进入春天，而一年中最冷的时期便是“三九天”。
