公元前500年，齐国的齐景公想拉拢邻国鲁国和中原诸侯，把齐桓公当年的事业重新干一下，就写信给鲁定公，约他在齐鲁交界的夹谷地方开个会。那时候，诸侯开会，都得有个大臣当助手，称作“相礼”。鲁定公决定让鲁国的司寇孔子担任这件事。

孔子到齐国后，跟齐景公谈了他的政治主张。齐景公待他很客气，想把孔子留下来。但是相国晏婴认为孔子的主张不切实际，结果齐景公没用他。

但是齐国的大夫黎鉏认为孔子留在鲁国做官对齐国不利，劝齐景公给鲁定公送一班女乐去。齐景公挑选了八十名歌女送到鲁国去。鲁定公接受了这班女乐，天天吃喝玩乐，不管国家政事。孔子对这件事感到很失望。孔子的学生说：“鲁君不办正事，咱们走吧!”

打那以后，孔子离开鲁国，带着一批学生周游列国，他先后到过卫国、曹国、宋国、郑国、陈国、蔡国、楚国。在列国奔波了七八年，希望找个机会实行他的恢复周朝初年礼乐制度的政治主张。可是，那个时候，大国都忙于争霸的战争，小国都面临着被并吞的危险，整个社会正在发生变革。这些国家的国君没有一个采纳了孔子宣传的政治主张。

最后，孔子回到鲁国，把全部的精力放到了整理古代文化典籍和教育上。孔子在晚年还整理了几种重要的古代文化典籍，像《诗经》、《尚书》、等，并把鲁国史官所记的《春秋》加以删改，成为我国第一部编年体的历史著作。在认识论和教育方面，它注重“学”与“思”的结合，提出了“学而不思则罔，思而不学则殆”和“温故而知新”等主张。他首创私人讲学的风气，门下弟子有上千人。自汉代以后孔子的学说成为了两千年封建文化的正统，影响极大。

孔子的学习精神非常好。相传，在他晚年攻读《周易》的时候，曾翻来覆去地读，竟使编联《周易》的绳子断了好几次。根据孔子苦读《周易》的故事，后人引申出“韦编三绝”这句成语。形容勤奋读书。

Finally the fields produced a yield rich beyond expectations. And therefore it was decided that a day of thanksgiving to the Lord be fixed . Years later, President of the United States proclaimed the fourth Thursday of November as Thanksgiving Day every year. The celebration of Thanksgiving Day has been observed on that date until today.

The pattern of the Thanksgiving celebration has never changed through the years. The big family dinner is planned months ahead. On the dinner table, people will find apples, oranges, chestnuts, walnuts and grapes. There will be plum pudding, mince pie, other varieties of food and cranberry juice and squash. The best and most attractive among them are roast turkey and pumpkin pie. They have been the most traditional and favorite food on Thanksgiving Day throughout the years.

Everyone agrees the dinner must be built around roast turkey stuffed with a bread dressing to absorb the tasty juices as it roasts. But as cooking varies with families and with the regions where one lives, it is not easy to get a consensus on the precise kind of stuffing for the royal bird.

Thanksgiving today is, in every sense, a national annual holiday on which Americans of all faiths and backgrounds join in to express their thanks for the year s bounty and reverently ask for continued blessings.

人人都赞成感恩节大餐必需以烤火鸡为主菜。火鸡在烘烤时要以面包作填料以吸收从中流出来的美味汁液，但烹饪技艺常因家庭和地区的不同而各异，应用什幺填料也就很难求得一致。

今天的感恩节是一个不折不扣的国定假日。在这一天，具有各种信仰和各种背景的美国人，共同为他们一年来所受到的上苍的恩典表示感谢，虔诚地祈求上帝继续赐福。

Grandpa is a kind old man. He sends me to school, whether its windy or rainy. I didnt finish my homework. When grandpa has been in the gate I had finished my homework.

My father was a busy big boss. Once I didnt finish my homework. I told my grandpa that he had finished writing. When my father checked my homework with my brother that night, my father hit me for second days. My father apologized to me. I knew my father couldnt beat me.

My mother is a good person, he hurts me, every time my father hit me, but my mother, but she will help me find the wrong, let me know her fathers intentions.
